Android custom row layout issue

Sorry in advance I need to include a few pictures to make my problem a little easier to understand. I am using a linear layout for my custom rows and it is giving me lots of trouble trying to get the rows to look how I want. Currently it looks like this
Please forgive the quick paint picture I am about to show but it is how I would like the layout to look.
I would like to add the name textbox above the dog picture, and a time stamp textbox above each of the 1 and 2. Whenever I try to add textboxes to display this it really messes with the layout. The textbox above the dog picture always wants to go to the right or left of the dog image and push the image to the middle of the page and the buttons get spread out further. I do not have much experience with this layout I typically do relative layout where I can drag and drop pieces. Any advise or help is greatly appreciated.

You need to wrap your imageview/textview combo in a LinearLayout. And you should set the imageButton using src, not background. Do it like this:

How to set textView as right as possible and set textView show only a part of text?

I have the xml code shown below. Everything is working as it should except the final textView( id locationTextView) which won't stay right. I want it to stay as right as possible, but I can't do that(it still appears straight after the linear Layout).Should I set a left margin?. And for the textView1 how can I make it to show only a certain part of the whole text, because I have texts of different lengths and they ruin the layout.

Try android:layout_weight="1" or some other value for your locationTextView. You can also try out android:weightSum="3" (or that is appropriate instead of 3) on your root LinearLayout. Assign proper weights to your different child views. You can get help here
For showing text in a presentable way, you could use android:ellipsize="marquee" or other options available.

Put a textview over Imageview in LinearLayout

I have stuck in some xml code and i hope you can help me out.
So here is what I need/what I have done by now.
I have 3 images of 650px width and I need them one below another while keeping aspect ratio.
I did that with the following code and it looks as it should. No problem here.

The problem is. I need to put three textviews in a left bottom corner of each image. Imagine it like image menu with text description on each image.
So, I can not use relative or frame layout because images won't play nicely with each other :) There is always a gap between or not aspect ration etc. I need weightsum.
Second, I can't hardcode the text on each image in photoshop because the app will be translated and text needs to change for each language.
I can have different images for each language but I am trying to avoid that.
Ah yea, one more last thing.
I tried to put entire linearlayout in relative layout and put the text between but the text appears beneath the image and I can't bring it upfront.
Any suggestions?

Take three FrameLayout inside your LinearLayout and inside FrameLayout keep the ImageView and TextView.
Or Else You can use RelativeLayout and give dependency to Views

You can use frame layout inside linear layout. create imageview inside the linear layout and create textview in another frame layout below it.

You can play with these parameters using Relative Layout Parameters android.com. The relative layout allows you to control the "relative" positioning between your elements.
You can lay your images out side by side, or in whatever fashion you wish.
Then you can adjust the text dynamically.

android layout pushing views from the screen

For building an application, we have several lists.
the problem exists with a list item, which is custom, but very simple nontheless.
The format is:
This represents one list item with 2 textviews and one image view
Note that title and date are actually right underneath eachother and the image is on the right side, with center vertical as attribute.The image should NOT be in between the two text views
I will give the XML first and then explain the exact problem.

Problem:
In some sense, this layout displays everything exactly as the ascii representation.
What does NOT function correctly is when the text is becoming long. In cases where the text is long, but not long enough to take 2 lines, it just makes the imageview tiny.
In other cases, it just pushes imageview completely off the screen..
What I need is, when the length of either the date or the other textview is too long, to break to a new line. And ofcourse it needs to be a solution portable to all sorts of screen sizes.
I'm not a UI artist, so, apologies if I'm abusing layouts in a sense that they should not be used.
Aside help, tips and hints are also welcome!

I think your best bet is one simple RelativeLayout:

Snap the ImageView to the right side of the parent, and let the TextViews take the rest of the width, but aligned to the left of the ImageView.

If you don't want your image shrinking then you need to give it a specific ratio of the real estate that its parent offers.
Specifically the LinearLayout that is its parent needs to have a weight_sum and then both the text and image need to have a layout_weight.
the weight should add up to the sum. The weight doesn't have to be a whole number and it's very important (and very counter intuitive) that the layout_width needs to be 0 (assuming that the two of them are sitting side by side)... so...
I'm removing all the extra stuff below that you need to add back in and just leaving the important parts....

This will split the LinearLayout in half and the left side will be text (which will wrap if it can) and the right side will be the image. You can adjust this by setting the sum to 3 and splitting up the sides to 2 and 1 in which case the text will be 2/3 of the screen and the image 1/3. Or leave the sum at 2 and have the left be 1.3 and the right .7 for a similar effect.

how to separate textviews in android?

It is a simple question but I don't know how to do it because I'm new in android.
I have two TextViews in a relative layout and when the first TextView getting bigger it writes on the other TextView which I want to avoid it. How can I do it ?

You need to give you TextViews ids. Since you're using a RelativeLayout you can use layout_toLeftOf and layout_toRightOf, but you only need to use one of them.

give some advice:
first you can set the left textview's max width using android:maxWidth="" to control the left size, but if the size bigger than the size the text will become like this:text...
or you need make the left and right area cleanly, for example:
