Preview Nexus 10 layout on Eclipse with ADT R21 - android

For some reason, after updating the ADT to R21, I cannot preview my layout on any type of size like I could before :
So, I declared a new Android Virtual Device by using the AVD manager and there, I can't found anything that could look like a Nexus 10 resolution :
Is anyone having the same trouble ? How can I preview a Nexus 10 layout with the cool "Preview All screens" feature ?
Thanks in advance.

You need to create a new 'Device Definition' for the Nexus 10 and populate it with the information regarding resolution, ram etc for that device. You can find the 'Device Definition' tab in the Android Virtual Device Manager. Once you create the new device definition, it will appear as an option in the 'Create New Android Device (AVD)' dialog box.
Good luck!
Note: I am running Mac OS X 10.8.2 and Eclipse ADT v21

Android Virtual Devices (AVD) resolution not correct after downloading Android 5.1.1 for SDK

The story is that I developed an Android program with Android 4.4.2. But some problems was found after installing the program to a device with Android 5.1.1. So I tried to download Android 5.1.1 for my SDK to debug the problem. Then the AVD I kept on using becomes like a mess no matter I changed to different configuration (see picture 1). My AVD configuration is as picture 2.
Hope someone could help... Thank you so much!

Got a temporary way to solve it and don't know if it is correct.
Set the skin to "no skin".
There is another problem happened now. The control bar of that window shows out of the screen. It makes the window cannot be moved. Anyway, I can continue my development job in this way...

Android new/edit AVD dialog missing "Hardware:" field options

I'm running Eclipse Juno 4.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit, with all Android SDK versions installed, android plug-in for Eclipse up to date also.
I've been reading some android tutorials online and I see that the AVD Manager (the Edit AVD screen only) looks a bit different comparing with my version:
On mine are missing the Hardware settings at the bottom of the screen.
In addition I don't have the options to change the screen resolution also.
Does anybody experience the same? Is it because of the OS (in my case Ubuntu), or the new version of ADT doesn't have these settings any more, or is it just a bug?
I would like to post images but for some reason the editor doesn't let me do it, it keeps displaying an error that I need at least 10 reputation.

AVDs created using the newer version of the AVD Manager use the Device Definition tab for the things you seek. There you can create new devices, and when you create an AVD, you choose the device you want from the Device drop-down.

That is because you are new to StackOverflow. Feel free to upload images elsewhere on the Web and link to them from your questions.

How to emulate Nexus 4?

Is it possible to create an AVD to emulate the Nexus 4?
I am using Eclipse and I'm pretty sure I have updated all of the SDK tools etc, along with the 4.2 SDK/system Image etc.
However, when I open the AVD manager to add a new AVD, there no longer seems to be the ability to enter a custom resolution/density etc. There is a droplist containing several devices, but no Nexus 4, and no generic version with a resolution of 768x1200.
Am I just missing something obvious?
Thanks in advance for any help!
After Update your ADT to version 21.
In Older Version each time you have to set Add Custom Screen if you want custom Device Configurations as (if you want Nexus 4).
In ADT21 version you can get this thing done by
open AVD Manager, u can define your custom screen in "Device Definition"
Alternative (Much Easier approach)
in Newest Version you Don't Need to Set Custom Device
Configurations from the above Suggestion as much easier way is available for it. you >Just Have to Make Emulator With your Device
Configurations and after you will see those Configurations with
Emulator Name Inside Graphical Layout of XML
like after Created my Emulator of Nexus7 Emulator with Android 4.2 with Name as "Nexus7_Android_4.2" i will get this Device Configuration in Graphical Layout of xml automatically.
Below is the Screen Shot of it.
Hope it will Help you.

Is Adding custom android skins to virtual device missing in ADT Eclipse(Juno)

I'm using the Eclipse IDE (Juno 4.2) and the latest Android/Google ADK.
The ability to load/use custom skins seems to have disappeared. When creating a device in the AVD (android virtual device manager), it was possible to specify a skin from drop-down {skins had to be loaded into the sdk/android-##/skins}. The directory(s) are still there but adding skins does not allow/permit selecting it in any part of the virtual device creation process.
I'm running Eclipse Juno 4.2 on both a windows and mac os.
developer.android.com docs still show UI that for selecting custom skins.
Is is possible to still use custom skins is there now a restriction on skins?
The only way I've found to do this is to manually edit the config.ini file for your AVD. Change the field "skin_name" to the name of the skin you want to use and change "skin_path" to the path to the skin, relative to the sdk directory.
So if your skin was part of an SDK add-on, an AVD config.ini that looks like this:
skin_name=1280x800
skin_path=1280x800
Would be changed to:
skin_name=MyDevice
skin_path=add-ons\addon_device_vendor_api\skins\MyDevice
Or in your example:
skin_path=platforms\android-##\skins\MySkin
The Docs don't appear to have been updated for revision 21 of the ADT yet, so maybe they'll have more information in the future. I'd really like to know if there's a way to do this from within the Device Manager, but this is the only way I've found to do it.

How can I create a AVD for tablet testing?

I can I create a AVD for android 4.0.3 so that I can test my app on emulator?
I have download android 4.0.3 SDK from Android SDK manager. But how can I create a AVD so that i will run as an tablet environment? The only one I found is SamSung Galaxy Tab, but that is for API 8. I am looking for something which works on 4.0.3
Thank you.
Check How to Test Your Application on Multiple Screens
in fallowing link:
http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html
its given there how can you test your app on tablet.
you just have to change your avd according to extra large.
remember one thing skin for tablet is available from 3.0 .
In 4.0 skin for tablet is not there.
for that try 3.0 to 3.2 versions( which were made for tablets specifically. \
Android avd sucks,
I suggest, use genymotion its fast. faster then your phone
If you are looking for a skinned version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, it is currently not available for any of the ICS API levels.
And using just the resolution to create Tablet emulator for ICS can be slightly tricky. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S II has a resolution of 720 * 1280 pixels.
To create an AVD for a tablet based on the ICS API, you should use the "WXGA800" from the drop down under the "Skin" option. I used this very option to create a tablet AVD and use it all the time.
Hope this helps.
in skin: where you select between built-in or resolution check in built-in drop down if WXGA720 or WXGA800 exists, if any of two are there then select one and create avd in the case of 4.0 it creates tab.
If you start eclipse.
Click in the menubar [Window -> AVD Manager]
Click 'New' to create a new emulator.
Here you can select which target/platform you want to run on it.
And select the resolution for the emulator.
FYI, you can create any size/resolutions of AVD. Just define the resolutions while creating AVD.
as far as i can see, there is no specific device emulator for 4.0.3. you can just create an avd from device manager with the api level 15 as the previous answer says. doesn't it work for you?
Most answers are 7 year old now and eclipse specific.
The current solution using Android Studio described here is:
open Android Studio
Go to Tools -> AVD Manager
Click + Create Virtual Device
