I'm developing an application which pulls weather data from a MySQL database by using PHP and JSON. It checks wether the user has an internet connection, if not then it will look for a file stored locally. If that file doesn't exists then it will display a message. To refresh the list, the user has to restart the application. I found this not really user-friendly so I decided to add a button which refreshes the data.
I have two classes, my ListActivity class (called WeerActivity.java in the code below) and a class which gathers all the data from the internet in a new thread (called InternetWeerThread.java). My onClickListener, for the refresh button, is set up in the ListActivity class. This tries to post a runnable to the other class, containing the refresh code. However when I do this. I get an exception because the code is still executed on the UI-Thread.

Step 1 : Use Retroft + RxJava for Asynchronous API calls
Step 2 : Use Gson to Serialize and Deserialize.
Step 3 : Use json to POJO to have a Model Class
Simplify the code.

For the first load, call your RecyclerOkHttpHandler AsyncTaskto get your first 5 items.
Now, for any further load, all you have to do is to check if the listView is scrolled to its bottom and you can refer to this link Find out if ListView is scrolled to the bottom? to know how to deal with it.
So, each time you detect that the user has scrolled the listview to the bottom, it's time to call the RecyclerOkHttpHandler AsynTask to get the 5 new images.
PS: You need to save the limit you have reached in each load, so that in the next load, you start loading from that limit.
Hope this helps :)

(On Android)
The problem is:
when this app launch, and i clicked button refresh, it's not showing table row that contains employee json data. but there's no error too on the logcat. Is it wrong with my url on class Task extends AsyncTask http://10.0.2.2/restayii/protected/controllers/EmployeeController.php ??
or should i replaced it with the same link just when i open it from mozilla http://localhost/restayii/index.php/employee/getemployee?id??
Edit:
I already change the url to http://localhost/restayii/index.php/employee/getemployee?id inside Task Class extends AsyncTask, but is still won't get employee json data from localhost.
please, Any help would be greatly apreciated. thanks
i already find an answer. my problem is in sub class Task extends asyntask and also in jsonParser sub class.
private class Task extends AsyncTask<JSONObject, Void, JSONObject>{
#Override
protected JSONObject doInBackground(JSONObject... params) {
try {
JSONParser json_parser = new JSONParser();
json_object = json_parser.getJson(url);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
return json_object;
}
#Override
protected void onPostExecute(JSONObject result){
LoadEmployee(result);
}
}
private class JSONParser {
.....
public JSONObject getJson(String url) {
try {
HttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet(url);
HttpResponse httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpget);
BufferedReader rd = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(httpResponse.getEntity().getContent()));
StringBuffer hasil = new StringBuffer();
String line = "";
while ((line = rd.readLine()) != null) {
hasil.append(line);
}
json = hasil.toString();
} catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
try {
jObj = new JSONObject(json);
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
return jObj;
}
}
now i can get all json data from my Yii web service. hope it will help someone.
I know that, you have to refresh android screen when you called an ajax data...
May be this will show you the way...
Now you use wrong URL in the AsyncTask. The right URL is something like http://localhost/restayii/index.php/employee/getemployee?id
I am facing an issue in Async task, can anyone please suggest me any solution.
I have downloaded this example from this link :
Source
My Current Structure is
Main Class extends MyTask and implements AsyncTaskCompleteListener interface.
AsyncTaskCompleteListener is an Interface contains the onTaskComplete Method .
MyTask extends Async Task and onPostExcute contains CallBackMethod which will return the result-set got from the doInBackground.
Http Class(Utils) contains the Http connection and returns the Result-set to AsyncTaskComleteListner from PostExecute.
I am trying to get my result-set Value in the main class from the interface method to perform my further operation.
I tried to get the value from static variables, static method but non of them worked, and also tried with creating a new class object to send and receive the result but every time it gives me NullPointerException . Because the statement written after the AsyncTask gets executes before getting the result.
I have also tried to get the Status of asyncTask from its method getStaus(), but it returns only Running and dose not notify when the task is completed or finished.
Here is the code sample:
Main Class Code :
package com.example.androidasynctask;
public class MainActivity extends Activity implements AsyncTaskCompleteListener {
public static String[] asyncResult;
String res[] = null;
#Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
}
public void btnclick(View view) {
/*MyTask asyncTask = new MyTask(this);
String [] asyncTaskResult = asyncTask.execute("fetchCategory.php","1%Id%1");*/
//AsyncTask<String, Void, String[]> asyncTaskRes = new MyTask(this).execute("fetchCategory.php","1%Id%1");
//new MyTask(this).execute("fetchCategory.php","1%Id%1");
MyTask asyncTask = (MyTask) new MyTask(this).execute("fetchCategory.php","1%Id%1");
if(asyncTask.getStatus().equals(AsyncTask.Status.FINISHED) || asyncTask.getStatus().equals(AsyncTask.Status.PENDING)) {

}

Thanks in advance.
Because the statement written after the AsyncTask gets executes before getting the result.
the reason is AsyncTask runs on separate thread,not on your Main(UI) thread.
MyTask extends Async Task and onPostExcute contains CallBackMethod which will return the result-set got from the doInBackground.
you will be getting result values on this method
#Override
public void onTaskComplete(String[] result) {
Log.v("IN ON TASK COMPLETE","VALUE = "+result[1]);
}
Comment following piece of code,
if(asyncTask.getStatus().equals(AsyncTask.Status.FINISHED) || asyncTask.getStatus().equals(AsyncTask.Status.PENDING)) {
asyncTask.execute();
}
else {
Log.v("In Else","Get Value");
}
Make change,
public static String[] asyncResult; to public String[] asyncResult = null;
Change following,
asyncResultSetValue = Utils.process_query(params[0],params[1]); to asyncResult = Utils.process_query(params[0],params[1]);
and return asyncResultSetValue; to return asyncResult ;
look at value by adding one more log,you will be getting result values on this method
#Override
public void onTaskComplete(String[] result) {
Log.v("IN ON TASK COMPLETE","VALUE = "+result[1]);
Log.v("IN ON TASK COMPLETE","VALUE = "+asyncResult[1]);
}
