I am trying to create notifications correctly, but as I can not perform an action when you click on the notification. I hope you can help me or give some clue.
It is recommended to use Notification.Builder and NotificationCompat.Builder from the support library for building notifications.
Also why do use reuse the Intent which was caught by your BroadcastReceiver? It should refer to the actual activity which you want to launch by click.
For example:

If you doesn't really want to launch some activity, you may start a Service or send a broadcast message instead. See PendingIntent.

I just started working with notifications and now I'm trying to remove the notification and launch the app once the notification has been tapped in the notificationcenter.
I tried to work with the following code:

But I'm able to swipe it to left or right to remove it but that's not what I want..
To get the same effect using Notification.Builder or NotificationCompat.Builder call setAutoCancel(true) on the Builder instance.
Use the flag Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL

This answer is too much late but specially i write following solution because notification constructor become deprecated so use notification using builder , like following :
**.setAutoCancel(true)** is used to remove notification on click

Calling this method with title and message you get perfect notification.
You can directly add .setAutoCancel(true) this line into your code in order to remove notification on click.
This must be added in your builder variable.

For my it was that
.setPriority(Notification.PRIORITY_HIGH);
that was causing the notification to not clear after click... make sure you use:
.setPriority(Notification.PRIORITY_DEFAULT);
And .setAutoCancel(true) should work.
I need to call some methods after clicking the notification. My notification has a pendingIntent that opens a browser. But I also have to do some other things AFTER user clicks it. Oh, and I must admit that I get my notifications from GCM(push).

However the notification does not get hidden/dismissed although I know I am hitting the code ( using log statements).
Why is that?
I found the answer. I "think" that due to the 2 pending intents having the same con and req code, they are ending up modifying their intent values. I fixed it by using 2 different request codes to ensure unique Pending Intents . Therefore , I got the same notifId
Check your id if it's zero.
Check the notification is not binded with other Service by startForeground().

At present, I can open ui.CallerMain.class UI if I remove the comment.
BTW, in system Missed Calls UI, missed calls are listed in there.

Set a Pending Intent to the notification which will trigger the Call History.
First create an intent with Call Log

Update: The code commented out in your snippet will work if you create the Intent as mentioned above in this answer. But please be aware that the method by which you are creating notification has been deprecated. Use NotificationCompat class from the support library in future.

A notification is never dismissed when an action button is pressed. It just sends you associated intent. If you want it to dismiss, you need to call NoficationManager.cancel(int id) to cancel it yourself. You will normally do it in the same method, which handles action button intent.
Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL flag you tried to use is only applied to notification body and not to action buttons.
use cancel() in the activity that started by your action to dismiss the notification
try this
