How do I right justify a TextView in a Linear Layout?

I am trying to get the TextView, "tv_amount" to stay on the right side of the screen. I have tried using android:gravity="right" but that hasn't been working for me. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am expecting the transaction or "tv_amount" to stay be right justified so that end of the number is staying towards the right side of the screen.
I tried using :
android:layout_weight="0"
android:layout_gravity="end"
android:gravity="right"
but these don't seem to work obviously. I am a beginner when it comes to android development and can't seem to find any answers that have helped anywhere else. They all say to use android:gravity or some other alternative. Maybe there is something in my code that doesn't allow that.

I am dumb. The issue wasn't with the code in my individual recycler view layout code. It was with my activity_main.xml. I set the recycler_view width to "wrap_content" when it should have been "match_parent." Rookie mistake.

Buttons not getting displayed

I have the following code defined in my xml file, but I don't see the buttons getting displayed. I have read way too many posts, and pretty much tried all possible combinations, but no luck :( I'd really appreciate if someone could help me here.

I would like to see my App Name on top (Text view - #string/hello_world), right beneath it, a big box that allows me to EditText(#string/ad_desc), and beneath that, all my buttons. The button should be at the bottom, next to each other aligned in this manner - http://www.mkyong.com/android/android-linearlayout-example/ (Linear layout - Horizontal example), except I want my buttons to be at the bottom, and not at the top. Instead I see something else (Image attached)
Please feel free to ask me if you'd like me to attach anything else. I am new to Android programming, and this is totally beyond me on why it isn't working.

If you want to align your Buttons at the bottom then you are better off with a RelativeLayout as the root. Try changing it to the following and notice the properties

You may have to add some margin to the TextView and EditText for appropriate spacing but this should give you your TextView with the EditText below it and your Buttons in a horizontal LinearLayout aligned at the bottom of the screen.

The easiest thing is to create a new relative layout, and place the item that you need from the palette.

Adding ScrollView to RelativeLayout changes position of wigdets

The following is the XML of my layout. It explicitly states that the title, time and description TextViews should be under the image of the alarm. However, as the screen shot shows, the TextViews have moved into the ImageView. Why does this happen and how can I fix this? The problem only started happening when I added the scrollview.

hmm... not sure why it's doing it, looks like you have the right code, without busting out eclipse. but i've also had some weird bugs with relativelayout that i didn't understand and didn't have time to debug.
i do know of an alternative way you can accomplish what you're looking for -
have a scrollview that encases a linearlayout instead of a relative layout. Do these things:
For the linearlayout, you can set orientation = vertical so that it's still a top down order.
For the part where you need two textviews where one is aligned to the right and the other is aligned to the right, you need another inner linearlayout with its orientation=horizontal. then have one element align parent left, and the other align parent right. add a weightSum=1 attribute to this linearlayout and have each of the two textviews layout_width=0.5 so that each is half the width of the screen
Apply a weightSum=1 attribute to your outer most linearlayout, and see each element inside so that it's layout_weight sum adds up to 1. layout_weight will allow an element to take up that much % of real estate on the screen. like if you set your imageView to have android:layout_weight=0.8 then it'll take up 80% of the screen... since mathematically, (layout_weight/weightSum) = (.08/1) = 80%
try to use that mechanism instead, and if should work :) if it's confusing i can give code

I have a scrollview ( mainly for landscape purposes, as I don't have a different xml file, I'm using android:configChanges="orientation")

Everything works fine, both in portrait and loandscape mode except for the ImgView (info_button) at the very end.
I used a Relative Layout because I thought I'd be able to position it on bottom right hand corner (a bit of margin would be desirable bottom and right) of the screen...

Instead of:
android:layout_gravity="bottom|right"
Try:
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
Edit: Reading your question again, I believe the problem is the ScrollView. I'm not sure why you are using this type of layout. You could get rid of it in favor of the relative layout and that should solve your problem. I'm not sure why you feel this activity needs to support landscape. If so, I would boil the ScrollView down to a single view object and try to troubleshoot that.

I have understood that u want to place that image at bottom - right location. If so, then give:

Why are some of my views not aligned correctly at the bottom of my relative layout?

I have problems getting some of my views aligned in a relative layout that I use inside a row of my listview.

Shouldnt align_parent_bottom put the view at the bottom of the cell in the list?

Try adding android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" as well; sometimes Views aren't displayed properly if it can't anchor the view with at least 2 points. Also, is this RelativeLayout used within a ListView? If so, you might find you have some difficulty getting it to look right. There was another question where someone was having a problem where the RelativeLayout looked right on its own, but not once it was included as part of a ListView. We didn't manage to figure out what went wrong so he had to use nested LinearLayouts instead.
