I am updating my android studio but show me bellow error :
My android studio is 2.3.1
I had the same problem but starting the Android Studio in Administrator Mode has helped me to continue with the update.
The reason is that the SDK manager would write the location of the temp file where it downloads the installer. For example in OP's case its mentioned as below:
in a line form the log or error message
Due to some reason that file might not be available any more and Android studio instead of asking for a re-download would give this error.
The solution to fix this is to find the file .installData from where SDK manager is getting this info and delete it. This will force SDK manager to re download that component only and you don't need to download the complete SDK again
The content of the file looks something like this
#Tue May 16 18:41:10 GST 2017
class=com.android.repository.impl.installer.BasicInstaller
path=C\:\\Users\\user\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\PackageOperation03
The content and path of the file would be different for different components
I got the same issue on Linux.
It was a permission issue on the SDK installation folder.
In Tools -> Android -> SDK manager there is the SDK installation folder at the top of the window.
Just do a chmod 777 -R on this folder, problem solved.
I had the same problem and i tried to uninstall/install the android studio but that didn't work out for me.
I had recently installed a fresh copy of windows. I'm using windows 10 64bit.
My problem turned out to be permission for the folder that contained the android studio/sdk.
To solve it, I removed old user permissions for user of old windows and added full control for my new user(not sure but i think modify permission would be enough).
To do so, I right click on the folder then selected the security tab.
Then click on Edit
Then click Add in the new screen
my user is named hany so i wrote hany then clicked on Check Names and it choose the right one.Click Ok
the user appears as Users (DESKTOP-8FKNNEM\Users) and then i check the Full control Then Ok
If the user had already existed in the Security tab then it should have permissions that would enable writing
I had this problem before and I tried to uninstall android studio and tried everything but I found the solution..
the solution is :
Download SDK from beginning , and change the SDK path to the new one, then it all will work .. good luck
delete
sdk-root\sources\android-##\.installer\.installData
and
sdk-root\platforms\android-##\.installer\.installData
My solution: (not as complicated as it looks)
Close project and exit Android Studio.
Run Android Studio as Administrator. (Right click on Android's icon will do.)
Android automatically loads a previous project, at exactly where I have left it supposedly.
However, it isn't where I have left it. It is at an earlier project where things (sdk settings/locations) have NOT gone wrong.
Next thing, I open the project I want to work on. A dialogue box appears saying that the Project SDK and Android SDK are pointing to different local folders. Two buttons allow me to choose which SDK location I want to use.
Either one should work!!!
Reflection:
It happens when we switch to a different user but tried to work on the same project.
We should remember to run Android Studio as Administrator unless we have an absolute clear mind about how SDK works.
Make sure you don't have an emulator running when you perform the sdk update. That was my problem that was giving this error.
Check the logs - Menu -> help -> show log in files.
In file explorer sort files by modified time.
Go to end at latest updated file you will find some error written there
In my case, it was "No space left on device".
ide.log location
Help -> Show Log in Explorer
Right click android studio and click run as administrator.. it will work.
It happens some times, you have to re-download it from the beginning with all the files because it seems that the download failed at some point, and then retry
Once I also stuck on that when tried to install emulator via AndroidSDK manager.
The solution is simple.
Right click on your Android sdk home and select sort by time.
And see last modified files.
In my case there were two text files. First file in root folder - ".knownPackages" with text something like: "ÈäUuMá–m ™ŒÝ¼´" and another one in".installdata"with endless text "nullnullnull....". But i forgot its location right now. You can search that in windows explorer.
Then I replaced them to a folder not related to Android home. Sdk re-generated them both after emulator installation. And it started work as it was before
Download Intel XAMP by clicking on this link https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/intel-hardware-accelerated-execution-manager-end-user-license-agreement
After downloading extract this file and install intelhaxm-android.exe file
Problem Solved....
The easiest way I used to fix this issue is to run Android Studio as administrator (Note! My android studio installed on C:/ partition, so this issue caused by permissions)
enter image description here
I found a file ".installData" on the system drive of Windows on advice #dmsherazi. I in this file simply deleted a line in which the path is specified. Then I restarted the Studio and the update fell into place.
solution: install and reinstall Android Studio SDK
or deleting the \instantapps folder in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\extras\google\instantapps could be the right solution
Go to "android-sdk" folder. Then go to "ndk-bundle", find and delete ".installData". Come back to Android Studio and goto "Help" and "Check for Updates...". I hope this will work for most of the systems. This problem solved on Android Studio 3.3.2 version.
Make sure that you have the correct access rights to the folder where the sdk is located
If this issue is with Ubuntu please try to start android studio as an administrator privilege by using the command
sudo sh studio.sh
It will resolve this issue.
If you are going for a console command it would be:
chmod -R 777 /www/store. The -R (or --recursive) options make it recursive.
Or if you want to make all the files in the current directory have all permissions type:
chmod -R 777 ./
If you need more info about chmod command see: File permission
First of all you have to show hidden files. then go to this location...
"C:\Users\pc\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\emulator.installer"
there you will find a file by name ".installData". just delete it.
Come back to Android Studio and goto "Help" and "Check for Updates...". I hope this will work for most of the systems.
Thank me later😎
I had the same problem and I tried to delete sdk-root\.temp directory and it worked for me.
I restarted Android in Administrator mode and it worked for me
Check your internet connection/Change another internet connection and try again.
Android Studio is not starting.when I click to open it gives me below error.Any suggestion for error.
I have already set the environment variable[ANDROID_HOME,JAVA_HOME,JDK_HOME].
If idea.properties file is run inside notepad, make sure the file have file name of "idea" only instead of "idea.properties". It is a "idea" file with extension of ".properties".
In my case, it happened because the idea.properties file in the bin directory was missing. I simply restored it with a backup version I had and Android Studio worked again. I was running on Windows 64 bit with Android Studio version 2.2.1.
I think the file went missing in the first place because I modified the file and when Android Studio was updating itself to the latest version, it detected the modified file and something went wrong with the update process and deleted the file.
I solved the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling JDK.
First check idea.properties file in the bin directory if it's missing restore it with a backup.
if this didn't work then
you can uninstall and reinstall JDK
I hope any one of this work for you.
If i am wrong please correct me.
In my case, I edited the file with Notepad and it saved the file as idea.properties.txt instead of idea.properties. Renaming solved the issue.
As the Windows hide extension by default, it would be good to go to View menu of File Explorer and enable "File name extensions"
In case it may be helpful to anyone landing on this page, I wanted to report that I fixed this by restarting my PC.
I first kept having trouble building an app, then I closed Android Studio. I got this error repeatedly when I tried to start AS again.
After updating the newest Android studio,I cannot load project anymore. And the error message:
Cannot load project:
com.intellij.ide.plugins.PluginManager$StartupAbortedException: Fatal
error initializing 'com.intellij.debugger.DebuggerManager'
I have tried to download it again, and reboot my system,it is not available. please help me.Thanks!
Recently I faced same issue where I was getting slightly different error related to XDebugger failure. It was because my project was in debug mode when I shutdown my laptop and intellij was not closed properly. It tends to try and find stored compiled classes again from cache when you start next time and when it could not find it from cache it just do not allow you to load full project.
Just Invalidate and restart option worked form.
File-> Invalidate Caches/Restart
It seems like there is something missing.Try to import your project new.
Or you press File->Invalidate Caches/Restart
Or restarting your laptop *works often (but you did as I know)
Or clear your cache and try to restart -> exit Android Studio-> Remove all the files in the cache directory(home_dir/.AndroidStudio/system/cache)->Then restart //but to prevent more erros :d safe them
Had some trouble with this one for a few weeks myself but in the end it turned out that the issue was actually with my Java_Home environment variable. It was pointing to JRE1.8.etc when it needed to be pointing to JDK1.8.0_101.
I probably just clicked on the wrong dl link or something, because when I downloaded jdk1.8 it replaced the jre file. Then just update the environment variable by right clicking My Computer within the file explorer (for windows) then going to properties->advanced system settings->environment variables. Then just edit your JAVA_HOME environment variable with the path of to where you installed the jdk (you can browse to it with file explorer then right click on the file path bar to copy the address and use CTRL+V to paste it). Hope this helps.
I just updated from android studio 0.9 to 1.0 and now when i try to run my app everything goes well up to the point where it asks "choose device", then i select my note 4 and then issues error "Local path doesn't exist."
I am using 64bit windows
Also clicked on "Sync Project with Gradle files". The problem is still there!
App:
Waiting for device.
Target device: samsung-sm_...
Uploading file
local path: C:\MyApp\app\build\intermediates\classes\debug\app.apk
remote path: /data/local/tmp/com.example.MyApp
Local path doesn't exist.
Error Log:
11:32:40 AM Gradle build finished in 5 sec
11:32:43 AM Unexpected Error
Local path doesn't exist.
Local path doesn't exist.
The project may need to be synced with Gradle files.
Sync Project with Gradle files
Looks like an issue with APK_PATH, which for some reason can't be found..
You may try following the solutions from here or here.
Also, you may try updating your Gradle plugin to the latest version and rebuilding the project.
Did you import the file from an Unix system? The path slashes are different in each one. Try correcting the paths to match your current system.
I had got the same error.
And I cleaned and rebuild the project and
Project -> Clean Project/ Build Project
Synced the project using Gradle
Click on "Sync Project with Gradle files" in Event Log
And you should be good. Worked for me.
Check the Run/Debug Configurations you have.
Click on the icon that has the Android robot written app then click on Android Configuration. When you click on "app", you will see to the right, at the bottom there is "Before launch..." Make sure in the input box below that it says "Gradle-aware Make". If it doesn't, click on whatever it says and click the pencil icon just above it (it is for editing). In the dialog box that pops up, remove whatever command is there (sometimes it is to unistallAll before reinstalling the new updated apk) and click "Okay". When you come back, you will see the input box now has "Gradle-aware Make" which means when you build your app, it will just install it on top of what is there.
I had this issue because I was unistalling everything before installing the new apk but I once cut the process in the middle of this process after it unistalled but not reinstalled. This meant the next time I ran the app, it wanted to unistall but could not find the apk as it has been deleted before. Changed back the configuration like above and it worked.
I've just recently started getting an error any time I interact with the Android SDK and AVD Manager in Eclipse Helios
I've tried reinstalling the Eclipse plugin and the Android SDK but to no avail.
If I go to the "Installed packages" page and click refresh (or install or remove a package) I get a popup box saying that
'Android SDK Content Loader' has encountered a problem.

Has anyone else encountered this recently?
It doesn't seem to be affecting actual Android development but its just kinda annoying.
The issue is in the your-avd-name.ini that is located at ...\<user-profile>\.android on your Windows machine (if you're Windows user). When any error occurs during the avd.ini parser, the Google ADT plugin tries to access a map that is null. The workaround is to delete the offending .ini file and recreate your avd(s).
This information was posted here: http://community.developer.motorola.com/t5/MOTODEV-Studio-for-Android/Android-SDK-Content-Loader-has-encountered-a-problem/td-p/6565
I solved the problem by deleting the .android directory in my user profile.
Solution:
Step 1. Find the folder named: > .android
This folder can be located in your Windows user directory, for example in Windows 7/8:
C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME.android
Step 2. Delete this folder .android
Step 3. Restart Eclipse and it is OK now
I solved the problem by deleting the .metadata folder from workspace
Go to C:/Users/<profile-name>/.avd and delete the .ini file of the AVD..Restart Eclipse..
otherwise if you don't know what file to delete or the above solution did not work for you, delete the entire created AVD folder..and restart eclipse..
The issue is in the your-avd-name.ini (config files) that is located at .android (search it)on your Windows machine (if you’re Windows user). When any error occurs during the avd.ini parser, the Google ADT plugin tries to access a map that is null. The workaround is to delete the offending .ini file and recreate your avd(s).
Try to delete .android folder from
C:\Users\Your User Name\.android
and open your eclipse and follow this Structure to configure your SDK for either installing new SDK or from installed one
I believe the trouble was with your ADT tools. If you had run eclipse plugin updates (which would update ADT), problem would have solved.
I get this parseSdkContent failed problem sometimes when I select improper values for a virtual device, if that improper value results in a blue screen of death upon AVD launch: After the crash when the computer restarts the "parseSdkContent failed" error will come when starting Eclipse.
This will give you all sorts of errors that does NOT at all give you any clue to the problem, from all the errors you may be tempted to reinstall Eclipse or even Java, but dont do that, it could be much simpler.
The solution for me is pretty simple: delete your .avd folder and the .ini file in ..Users\.android folder.
Backing up your AVD is therefore a good idea since it becomes corrupted if it crashes with Besod during launch.
Ok I've no idea exactly what I did but I used the standalone AVD manager (/tools/android from the command line) and un-installed most apart from the "Android SDK Tools, revision 2".
And then reinstalled the parts I wanted and the error seems to have gone away..
Confused!
For some reasons my sdk/addons and sdk/platforms directories got corrupted and unreadable (computer crash), this caused my "'Android SDK Content Loader' has encountered a problem." error.
Had to delete/rename the entire sdk folder, download and install the sdk+packages again. In user/.android everything was fine.
For me, the source of the NullPointerException problem was a host-side Junit test project that references (and tests) code from an Android project. It didn't have a project.properties file. It's not an Android project, but for some reason the newer versions of the SDK somehow expects the file there. To fix the problem, I just copied a project.properties file from an Android project to the host unit test project.
First start the emulator from command line
emulator -avd yourDeviceName
after doing above step in my case eclipse started fine.
UPDATE:
There is no perfect solution to this problem other than starting all over again. The issue is still open.
My solution was simply to go to help->look for updates-> and install all android related updates. Once done, I restarted Eclipse, it told me I need to start the SDK Manager to update some stuff, I clicked the "Open SDK Manager" button it shows me, updated the dev tools, platform tools, added some latest APIs and viola, all is fine :)
just try to delete the avd folder inside the .android folder, which may also have ur sdk folder in the path. Just delete the avd folder and try to configure ur path of the sdk in the eclipse > preference > android. then try to configure ur new avd in the eclipse by clicking the avd manager and then adding a new avd with a new name and click the start.
Ur new avd device will launch.
Cheers
Prakash
I have deleted the .android for windows user.
if adb running stop it by adb kill-server and then delete the folder.
this worked for me I am using adt-bundle-windows-x86 on window 7.
the issue is with AVD. AVD are saved under .android folder so after new installation of adt-bundle-windows-x86 we need to delete this folder also.
I'm on Windows 7; I got this error on first startup of ADT-provided Eclipse. My particular variant referenced an inability to write to a location on my C: drive. I solved it using the .metadata trick from above; then I chose "Run as Administrator" and everything worked fine after that.
i have solved the problem by deleting the newly created AVD(Android Virtual Device) in "C:\Users\EAST.android\avd" where \EAST is my user name, in avd folder you will find two folders for each device e.g. myDevice.avd and myDevice.ini delete both the files and run you eclipse again
Solved this by deleting metadata and .Android
in workspace
Add following lines to .bashrc file.
export PATH=${PATH}:~/android-sdk-linux/tools
export PATH=${PATH}:~/android-sdk-linux/platform-tools
replace "~/android-sdk-linux" with path where you have saved the sdk folder.
This is a workaround (not exactly the solution). In Window > Preferences > Android > Lint Error Checking, uncheck "When saving files check for errors".
I am sure this might work for you .
Had a similar problem. From one day to another I wasn't able to start my (so far) well working App. "SDK Content Loader" and "NullPointerException" Errors would pop up.
Read the Answers here but didn't want to delete my .android or .metadata.
I tried to clean my Project and - tadaa - it worked.
So, before you start deleting your plugins and stuff. Try a clean or restart and clean.
Maybe this will already fix your issue. ;)
