After reinstalling my Android Studio I have big issues because all my projects have problem with Gradle file.
There are .jpeg-s attached
Gradle File
Messages Gradle Sync
[Some conflicts in installation area][3]
I would suggest fresh new install of everything and keep in mind where exactly will you install it (my suggestion would be to keep it simple like C:\Android\ for studio and C:\Android\SDK for SDK
Also you can click on Edit next to the SDK location and see what if your SDK report any issues or you can select another SDK location and update missing tools from there.
Or if you would like to tackle current issue on another way, use search and find SDK folder and move it your android folder (don't forget to avoid black space in file path), and again through SDK location don't forget to put new path to the Studio.
After you set up your environment ans run your build gradle again there shouldn't be any more issues like this, or at least when you install missing platforms and tools it will fix thing as it should.
Also have the same dependency version for libraries when you finish setting up environment.
Finally done. I resolved uninstalling Android Studio. The real problem was SDK. When you uninstalling AS SDK is still on computer, and I deleted all these files from SDK folder. The best option if you install AS and SDK directly on C:. After that AS working without any problems. Thanks #Miroslav for all your help and patience.
I'm on windows7 x64, installed today's latest stable release of android sdk studio (through android studio bundle, since it's shipped together now apparently). I have properly configured the environment variables as you'll see above.
This is what I get when issuing the following command
$ cordova build android
ANDROID_HOME=G:\installs\Android\sdk
JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_121
Error: Could not find gradle wrapper within Android SDK. Might need to update your Android SDK.
Looked here: G:\installs\Android\sdk\tools\templates\gradle\wrapper
And indeed, the "templates" directory doesn't even exist in my sdk install.
I've already tried the suggestions (setting the right path, uninstall/reinstall) of this question here but nothing applies to my case, and I find that manually copying and pasting packages is not really a solution, since there's a package manager in place.
If anybody has an answer as of today's android install, would be very much appreciated.
If still not working then copy all file from gradle\wrapper from Android Studio installation folder
C:\Program Files\Android\Android
Studio\plugins\android\lib\templates\gradle\wrapper
and paste it in your Android SDK gradle\wrapper then run same command.
E:\android-sdk\tools\templates\gradle\wrapper
This is a known issue; see CB-12544. For now you'll need to downgrade.
I downloaded Android SDK r25 manually and placed templates folder inside Android/sdk/tools. This solved the issue for me.
You can get it from https://dl.google.com/android/repository/tools_r25.2.3-macosx.zip
For Windows:
https://developer.android.com/studio/index.html
Go to the section :"Get just the command line tools"
There is a link 'sdk-tools-darwin-3859397.zip' for Mac, Unfortunately that didn't have the templates folder with Gradle Wrapper. So for Mac users, i will suggest not to go for this zip.
After installing the Android studio and launching it I am getting this error.
I cannot specify the path to the SDK. I have tried giving the path as :C:\Development\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\" but the path is invalid
Try this:
close this box then
Tools -> Android -> SDK Manager
I encountered this problem when installing Android Studio 3.0.
There was in fact no folder named C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk after I installed Android Studio. I tried installing the Android command line tools at this location, but android studio did not accept this. (Turns out, the command line tools are not the SDK.)
Managed to fix it by doing a complete uninstall of Android Studio, deleting the C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Android folder, deleting any Android Studio settings folders (in my case C:\Users\Your Name\.AndroidStudio2.3 and C:\Users\Your Name\.AndroidStudio2.3). After reinstalling and opening Android Studio, it gave me a dialog to download the SDK.
I can think of 2 possible explanations why this worked for me:
Originally, Android Studio was opening a project straight away, which didn't trigger the "download your sdk" dialog. (This no longer occurred since I deleted my Android Studio settings.)
There was some kind of setting that made Android Studio think I already had the SDK downloaded.
Try this - C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk
Replace Your Name with the name of your PC.
This problem is usual after you update, or reinstall the Android Studio.. Follow these steps-
* Close all the opened project which is opened by default after you started the Android Studio.. and again open the Android Studio, it will direct you towards re-downloading of SDK components from the net (So be sure to have net connectivity at this point)..
* If above step doesn't work, then restart the PC and open Android Studio again..
Hope it will help..
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk
Hope this will work.
I was also stuck with this...i tried everything mentioned above, but could not get through.
Then I was about to uninstall and reinstall the IDE as mentioned above.
When I was about to uninstall, to my surprise, I found Android SDK Tools in control Panel -> Programs and Features, which was the thing I was looking for!
Android SDK Tools in Control Panel -> Programs and features
I didn't know how to find the path of that, because even after searching in my computer, I didn't get it. So, I went on further and clicked on uninstall.
There, I found the path of Android SDK Tools "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\". I did not uninstall anything.
I linked this path in the dialogue box, the error was gone!
Whoever encounters the same error, should look for the "Android SDK Tools" in the programs and features in control panel, and then go for uninstalling the same.
There you will find the path of the tools folder.
Copy and paste that path, and you shall get through.
When installing Android Studio on my Mac I accidentally cancelled the dialog box that would normally have installed the SDK. To fix this I deleted Android Studio from /Applications, and deleted the following folders:
% cd $HOME
% rm -rf Preferences/AndroidStudio3.4
% rm -rf Logs/AndroidStudio3.4
% rm -rf Caches/AndroidStudio3.4
% rm -rf Application\ Support/AndroidStudio3.4
(Adjust the version number for your version.) I then reinstalled Android Studio and let it guide me through the SDK installation process.
In case anyone get to experience the same weird situation as me:
I had installed Android Studio, had projects saved, but for some reason I had to do reinstall Windows (and during that I deleted my "Android-folder" in ".../local". When you do that, you will encounter the exact same pop up.
No worries, close it and even though it says that it is needed, it's not. You just don't have access to the prior projects. When saving the new one, then everything will be OK.
The problem was solved by downloading the SDK again, in my case I had deleted the SDK folder that was in C:\Users\george\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk, because I deleted it then I had to download the SDK
I just reinstalled Android Studio (everything) C:/user/yourName/.androidStudio.4 and C:/user/yourName/.androidStudio.4.
You dont have to delete your projects folder!
In my case, going to the Settings menu in Android Studio, there I could download the SDK (none were installed) through the "edit" button
I got this error when moving a project from one computer to antother, even though it wasn't an Android project and didn't need an Android SDK.
The solution for me was to open the file local.properties and remove the line that says sdk.dir. Hope this can help someone.
All you need to do is close the project opened in android studio. This error occurs when you reinstall Android Studio. The previous project that you have been working on will be opened by default. Select that folder from file explorer and move into different location and then again launch Android Studio. The SDK installation will begin thereafter.
The Reason that why Android Studio can't install/find SDK automatically:
As I tried many times for reinstalling Android Studio, but each time I faced with this SDK popup. I figured out that after installing, Android Studio seeks for project folder automatically (usually located in C:\Users\Username\AppData\AndroidStudioProject) to syn previous settings, gradle, SDK path, Android Studio Settings etc. When I deleted this folder (if you need your previous projects copy it somewhere for latter replacement) the usual installation has been started after clicking on install.
I just encountered this issue when updating my Android Studio after a couple of years of not using it, and the solution ended up very easy:
I exited the window with the SDK prompt and closed the old project it was trying to open. Once the project was closed, the IDE was able to prompt me with the download window, and there SDK download worked!
So, I've been trying to build a project in LibGDX for about 10 hours now. In case you'r unfamiliar, LibGDX is one of those platforms where you specify a project directory at the start, along with any required SDKs and then when you're ready to start coding it will generate a project for you.
Anyway, I've been having a problem where every time I try to build it fails with the single error message:
Execution failed for task :core:compileJava.
Could not find tools.jar
I'm guessing "tools.jar" is a package within the Android SDK, as this is the only repository needed to build, it doesn't ask for a JRE or even the Java SDK. just the Android SDK.
I have been looking in the SDK manager, I have installed all of the packages labelled "Android-SDK Tools", "Android-SDK Platform Tools" and "Android SDK Build Tools" but there is nothing else that includes "tools.jar", I am looking for some light shed on this topic as it is a very grey area. I would like to know where this .jar file comes from and what exactly it includes. Can it be installed from the Android SDK?
There have been similar questions like this before which only fit narrow situations, If someone could provide a holistic description of the tools.jar package it would benefit a great deal for me and everyone else that needs it in their 3rd-party android IDEs.
For the record, it's building with Gradle and my current SDK is well-equipped enough to build full-fledged apps in Android Studio.
Please don't answer this question with a question unless I have left out some information that is dire to finding an adequate solution
Try copying tools.jar from %JAVA_HOME\lib to Android Studio\lib
For me, copying tools.jar to Android lib folder alone didn't solve my problem.
But I also had to create a System Variable 'JAVA_HOME' in Windows Environment Variables with path to the latest JDK folder.
Restarted Android Studio, and this solved by problem.
My Android Studio Version: 4.2.1
The "tools.jar" is provided by Oracle JDK which is required by android studio for compilation - I have faced this issue after updating android studio to latest version in my PC.
To Resolve the issue follow below steps:
In Android studio File -> Project Structure -> SDKs (Under Platform Settings)
A) Add JDK path by pressing '+' symbol in middle pane if suppose JDK/JDK home path is not present in the middle pane already (Middle pane also contains the Downloaded Android SDK's)
B) Java sdk will be usually present/installed in the path
64 bit => "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.X.Y_ABC" (In my PC it is 1.8.0_202) or
32 bit => "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.X.Y_ABC"
If suppose you don't have JDK installed in your PC, please download and install from Oracle Java website
https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase/javase-jdk8-downloads.html
Set JDK and JRE Path(Download both from webpage mentioned in step 2) in system environment variable
A) Press windows key type "Edit the system environment variables" and open the application
B) Go to Advanced -> Environment Variables
Under system variables add JAVA_HOME and JRE_HOME as below
Set Windows system environment variable
Add jdk lib path on the Path environment variable under user variables (this step is required only if the error not resolves with the previous steps)
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.X.Y_ABC\lib
In my case, I have five jdk and some have tools.jar and other not, my solution is copy paste this tools.jar in all lib of jdk.
Nothing worked for me. So I Copied tools.jar and pasted it in C:\Users\UMAR_\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platforms\android-30 which is the path to the library for the Android API 30 Platform. I pasted tools.jar in every folder and it start working.
I didn't have tools.jar initially but followed this link and downloaded https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/javase/javase-jdk8-downloads.html
Also added to a environment variable.. but what worked was in the first para, I still don't know if adding to variable was necessary or not.
I had installed OpenJDK7 in my machine for Java programming. Then I removed it and installed Oracle 1.7Jdk. But the problem is Android Studio isn't taking the new JDK. It gives the following error:
Cannot run program "/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-i386/bin/java" (in directory "/home/pranay/.AndroidStudioPreview/system/compile-server"): error=2, No such file or directory
How can I run Android Studio?
Android-Studio may stores the location of Java in $HOME/.AndroidStudioPreview/config/options/jdk.table.xml
Delete this file and restart Android-Studio, it should now prompt you for your new Java location.
Cheers
Seems that Android Studio can't find your JDK, probably your system installed it on a different location (and not in "/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-i386/bin/java").
I had another problem with Java and Android Studio, but I think the soulution could also work for you. IntelliJ needs a fixed installation of the JDK in one of these locations (found it here):
/usr/java
/opt/java
/usr/lib/jvm
My JDK was in another folder, so I moved it to /usr/java and now it works fine :)
The location is now:
~/.AndroidStudio/config/options
not
~/.AndroidStudioPreview/config/options
since AS has been officially released.
