I want my Android app to be able to show something like menu button would, but the menu would pop out from an imageview.

When an item is selected in the spinner, the corresponding text is displayed in the textview. Upon pressing the button, the textview appears in full screen mode.
Now I want to return to the previous view (by pressing back button or by single tab on screen), i.e., the view before the button was clicked. How can I achieve this? Thanks in advance for the patience and the help.
Simplest would be to have the spinner and the non-fullscreen TextView on one activity and open a second activity with the fullscreen mode on button click.
I have a GridView and am using a BaseAdapter to populate the values for each grid item. I am programmatically adding the buttons in each grid item using this adapter. The problem is, I have a total of SEVEN buttons. After each button click, the button is disabled so can only be clicked once.
So when the second button is clicked, the 7th button stops working. And if the 7th button is clicked, the first button stops working. The buttons are working fine and function properly apart from this.
EDIT: It seems like scrolling through the gridview (since the elements inside the gridview are large is causing the problem.)

I hope I make my problem clear.
I'd avoid use clickable views inside of GridView, instead of, I'd use RecyclerView. Because GridView implements onItemClick, it can conflict with ImageView clickable.
Anyway try add android:focusable="true" in <ImageView />
In my main activity java code file, I'm adding a new view with this method:

But now, in the same xml resource file that this view uses, I have a button that is supposed to remove this view. This button is also in the same DisplayNewView java code file.
It looks like this:

But when I click on the button, nothing happens. I also don't see any errors in the debugger console in Android Studio.
From my web searches, it looks like I'm trying to remove the view in the right way.

Clicking on delete button should delete the button view. If you wish to delete all views you can use vg.removeAllViews(); and as others have mentioned why create new intent for dynamically manipulating views?

So I have an activity that displays the xml spinner and text view.
When the text view is clicked I want to add another instance of the same xml spinner and text view, so that a person can add as many tasks as they like.
I dont want a multi-select listView as I am going to have to associate each chosen item/task with other individual methods

You could just write a method that would call the spinner and this method would get called in the spinner.setOnItemSelectedListener();
