What happens to auto-update in Google Play if an old APK version is made active?
Scenario:
My current (and published) version is 5.11
The previous version is 5.10
If I deactivate 5.11 and activate the older 5.10 version, what will happen to users that have auto update activated and currently have 5.11? Will they auto downgrade?
No, they will keep their current version. The only way for them to get 5.10 is to uninstall and then re-install from the store. If you released a bad update, you can re-compile and re-release the old version with a higher version number (5.12).

Due to some reason, I do not wish to publish the already reviewed, App on Play Store. (Let's call this the buggy version - v1.0.3(5))
I have a new version uploaded with bugs fixed and version updated - v1.0.4(6)
I have Managed Publishing turned on.
What will be the behaviour after I click on publish changes. (When both versions are ready to publish).
Note: I do not want any user to use the buggy version - v1.0.3(5)
After the review of newer version 1.0.4(6), the older version does not show up in ready to publish changes.
A few weeks ago, I've changed an App from internal testing to open testing on Google play. Lets call it build 20. Since then a few updates have been published and now the current version is build 27.
Yesterday I've noticed that if you download the app from Google Play, you'll get build 20 installed. The question now is: How can you ensure that Google Play delivers the most recent version when installing the app? Is there a way to force it?
A workaround to get the latest version is to visit the "My apps and games" section at the play store app, where the just freshly installed app shows up under available updates. Pushing the "update" button installs the app's latest version (build 27). However, it would be nice if the Play store would deliver the most recent version during initial installation. Do you have any ideas how to make this happen?
When you change from the Internal or Open testing stage to the Production stage, make sure that Staged roll-out is 100%
Of course, it takes several hours to distribute all new users or existing users
I have an Android App on playstore. Now I have made so many changes to this app and want to update my app. I know simple update is easy but the thing I want is that to publish the new version in beta by keeping the old version remains same. In simple word, I want to publish a new build with beta version that it don't effect the older version?
Note: Old version is not in beta.
Releasing app update to beta channel (open testing) doesn't remove the production release. The beta update will become available as an update to testers only, everyone else will have access to the production release.

I have implemented google In-app updates in my android project. There are two ways of implementing the in-app update.
1. Immediate and 2 Flexible.
I am using Flexible mode to update the app.
Now There is 1.0.7 version of my app exist in google play store which is updated one.I have retained version 1.0.3 in my app for testing purpose. Mean while There are five versions like 1.0.3, 1.0.4, 1.0.5, 1.0.6 and last 1.0.7 (which is latest version).
When I create signed apk and then it show alert to update the app in flexible mode, when I go for the update, after updating I restart the app and then it shows version 1.0.5 not the latest version which is on playstore (1.0.7).
Can anyone please tell me why it's not updating latest version(1.0.7).
Thanks in advance.
I want to update code without going to play store and doing manually update.
So what should i do? Anyone have a idea about it
Have you increased the version code and version number in the App level gradle file. When you increase the version google play store automatically checks the installed version on your device and the version uploaded on the Google Play store. If uploaded version is greater than installed version it automatically updates the App.
