I Checked out two projects from SVN(Server) both are related to each other, and i imported both to existing eclipse workspace but while launching the project, it is crashing at the home screen itself plz anyone let me know how to overcome this issue....
Check whether it is a library project? If so then right click on project-> go to properties-> Android-> check weather the library project is added into your main project or not?
File->Import->General->Existing Projects into Workspace,
Next
Select root directory: /path/to/project
Projects->Select All
If one of those projects is dependent on another, or is it's library, you will need to connect them somehow.
You will do that by right clicking on your project and then go to propreties.
There, it it's a library, go to Android and Add that project as a library.
Or you could go to Java Build Path and add a project there and manage your order and export

I want to use this library https://github.com/koush/ion in my project. But I don't understand how can I install it.I am using Windows 8 and Eclipse. How can I install ?
Download that project and put it in workspace of eclipse and import it from work space to eclipse and make it as library project and add it to your project.
Steps to import:
Right Click on package explorer
Import
Existing Project into Workspace
And then browse to the location where the project downloaded
Import it
Steps to add it as library to your project:
Right-click on your project -> Properties
In Android->Library section click Add
Select recently added project -> OK
That's it!
Now you can use it
You must perform the following steps:
Download ion project code.
Import it in your workspace using eclipse.
Right click in your current project and select Properties. The project properties windows must be opened.
Select Android option.
Go to the bottom of this tab and you can view the Library section.
Add the library dependency using the Add button.
I hope that helps!
You are probably better off downloading the jars vs the source.
https://github.com/koush/ion#get-ion
Download those two and place them in the "libs" directory of your project. If that directory does not exist, create it. From with your Eclipse project preferences, you can add those jars as dependencies.
Am trying to add google-play-service library in my project using import(For Google map). After adding the path am getting red X next to this reference and the reference is not adding . Know how to resolve this ?
The red X means its a broken link path.
http://developer.android.com/google/play-services/setup.html
Copy the google-play services_lib library project to your workspace (folder where your android map project is). The library project can be found under the following path.
<android-sdk-folder>/extras/google/google_play_services/libproject/google-play-services_lib library project .
Import the library project to your eclipse
Click File > Import, select Android > Existing Android Code into Workspace, and browse the workspace import the library project. You can check if it is library project. Right click on the library project. Goto properties. Click Android on the left panel. You will see Is Library checked.
Right click on your android project. Goto properties. Choose Android on the left panel. Click on Add and browse the library project. Select the same. Click ok and apply
Eclipse does weird things when importing an existing project (google-play-services-lib), especially if you try to import and then allow the project to be automatically 'copied' to your workspace. I had the same issue and here is how I fixed it:
Close Eclipse
Erase all google-play-services projects from your workspace
Manually copy the google-play-services-lib folder (....sdk\extras\google\google_play_services\libproject\google-play-services_lib) into your workspace
Open Eclipse
Add a new project, choosing 'Existing Android Project', then navigate to your workspace and add the newly copied google-play-services-lib project
Finally, add the google-play-services-lib to your project as a library (just like you normally would)
Hope this helps! :)
Though it's over a year for this question but never the less thought of putting it down here. Might help some one facing a similar issue.
While doing a File -> Import one probably might have selected the folder,
C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20130729\sdk\extras\google\google_play_services\
instead of
C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20130729\sdk\extras\google\google_play_services\libproject\google-play-services_lib
Quite strange as Eclipse did not correctly copy the google-play-services_lib project in my workspace, but this caused a cross mark to appear in my Project Properties.
got a perfect solution for your question. this problem is due to improper referencing of library projects. You need follow these step.
create a new project
copy all the java files from src of your previous project in which you are getting error to the new project you have created just now.
Also copy layouts xml files.
now import play services you will not get this error.
I was also getting same problem.
I copied google library folder into work space and import now it's working fine.
Try to place the Google-play-service library with in your same working Directory by coping the files from Click File > Import, select Android > Existing Android Code into Work space, and browse the work space import the library project.
This is common issue Youur google-play-service-lib project and your android project should be inside the same folder For example
if your Android Appplication name is MyMap is in D:/workspace t hen your play service lib project should be in the same directory D:/workspace
Close Eclipse. Delete
.metadata
and
.recommaditions
folders from your workplace. Import your projects back.
You add Project in to your workspace.
Start Eclipse and import project one option is ther copy to workspace do it.
After that add google play services it also copy in to your work space
and add it your library hope so its working.
I am having problems getting start with the ActionBarSherlock. I downloaded the 4.1.0 version and followed the following tutorial for installing it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GJ6yY1lNNY
The Problem I am facing is whenever I make a new project and add the library project of ActionbarSherlock to it. I get the following error.
Description Resource Path Location Type
The container 'Android Dependencies' references non existing library 'C:\Work\JakeWharton-ActionBarSherlock-4.1.0-0-g9598f2b\JakeWharton-ActionBarSherlock-88fc341\library\bin\com_actionbarsherlock.jar' myapp Build path Build Path Problem
Please anybody help me with it.
I just had the same problem: A .jar file is requested, but non-existing. Also, it is okay that the file doesn't exist, because we want to use a Android-Library Project and not an included jar-library.
The steps described by Aqif Hamid are perfectly fine, if the missing import (.jar or library project) would be the root of the problem. But i figured out that the reason for this error is that you have to set both projects (AndroidBar Sherlock and your own Android project) to Java Compliance Level 1.6
To do so go into Project Properties => Java Compiler and set the level to 1.6
Of course, you have to install JDK 1.6 on your computer...
Hope this helps you too!
The only thing that it works for me was selecting at Properties at Java Compiler Tab Compilance Level --> 1.7 (It was 1.6).
After that Android Tools, Fix Project Properties
DO the followings:
just like you have bin, res folders. right click on your project and
add a folder named 'libs' (if libs folder is not already there).
Then copy paste your com_actionbarsherlock.jar file in this libs folder.
Right-click on your com_actionbarsherlock.jar file and click Add to Build Path.
Now clean and build your project. You should be good to go.
Edit:
To add project as a library do this:
Make sure you have your library project in your projects list and it
is open.
Right click on your project in which you want to add your library
project and select Porperties.
Click Android in properties windows, now scroll down, you will see
library section at the bottom. There press Add button.
Now a window will open in which you will see list of library
porjects. Select your required project and press Ok. Now that library
project must be there with a green tick mark.
Press Apply and Ok button.
You should be good to go now.
regards,
Aqif Hamid
I am of the understanding that you cannot include ActionBarSherlock into your project by adding a jar to your lib directory (or just including the jar at all). You will have to create an android project for ActionBarSherlock then link to it as a library:
Create ActionBarSherlock project in Eclipse
Right-click your project and go to Properties
Select Android in the left pane
Then in the right pane, towards the bottom you can Add... the ActionBarSherlock project you created in step 1.
If you are curious why the jar approach doesn't work, I give you Jake's reply in this thread
(although that's a month and a half old at this point).
1 - create a libs folder (parallel to manifest) and put the jar in that
Your Project -> right click -> Properties -> Java Build Path -> Libraries -> Add Jar ->
yourjar.jar
This video might be useful in case you are having some issues.
http://mobile.tutsplus.com/tutorials/android/jar-for-android/
Clean your actionbarsherlock project. It will generate the .jar file for you when it re-builds.
Using the Android Tools option to Add compatible libraries fixed the problem for me.
I want to make some ActionBar for my application using this library: https://github.com/johannilsson/android-actionbar but I don't know how to import it in my android project. There is no jar file. How can I do?
Flo
First, make sure you're using the latest version of the Android SDK, things have improved dramatically within the last few months.
Install the android-actionbar source code, either downloading it and unpacking it, or (preferably) using git to clone the repository on your system.
(I strongly recommend using the mimic-native-api branch as it is the most up to date.)
Import the android-actionbar project into Eclipse. Note that the library's .project file is located in android-actionbar/actionbar. There is a small sample project in android-actionbar/actionbarexample as well.
The project's library setting should already be set, but you can confirm this by right-clicking on the android-actionbar project in Eclipse, choosing Properties, and confirming that "Is Library" is enabled in the Android settings category.
In Eclipse, right-click on the project that you want to use the action bar library in, and choose Properties. Select the "Android" category in the list on the left. In the "Library" settings on the right, click the "Add..." button and select the android-actionbar library project.
Tip: I've found Eclipse can get a bit squirrely when you edit library code, if you run into errors that don't want to go away, use Project > Clean... to remove the R.java files, etc. ...then refresh your package explorer and rebuild.
You'll want to look at http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/projects/projects-eclipse.html#SettingUpLibraryProject and http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/projects/projects-eclipse.html#ReferencingLibraryProject. The first link explains how to create a Library project: you probably just need to take the github zip file, expand it and then add it to Eclipse. You can then import it into your own project in Eclipse.
Just copy the source into your project folder and add each file as a new class
I have zip file of Android-wheel but dont know how to use it into my project. What possible things can i do, Please suggest me.
You need to unzip the zip file to some directory, and in your android project under build-path choose add external jar, and choose the jar in the unzipped directory.
Update:
I checked Android-Wheel out and you will have to import the project from the google-code svn Android Wheel. In eclipse if you go to create a new project there should be a import from svn option. Once you do and the project is imported you can set it up as a library project and then use it in your app. To do that right click on your project, choose the android tab, and choose add under the libraries section.
I just made this tutorial, hope this helps those who use android wheel for the first time.
http://tolkianaa.blogspot.mx/2012/03/do-not-try-to-reinvent-wheel.html
*Download project with Svn
*Import the project into Eclipse
* Once you import the project in the Eclipse, Right click on the project -> Properties -> Choose android tab and check the IsLibrary option
* Now Right click on your project -> Properties -> Choose android tab -> In the Library section add the imported project.
