Account manager integration - Android vs iOS - android

I am Android developer, but I need to answer to some questions regarding what is possible with other platforms and I wonder what iOS offers that is comparable to http://developer.android.com/reference/android/accounts/AccountManager.html. I found https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/Accounts/Reference/ACAccountClassRef/Reference/Reference.html but I can not understand the full range off possibilities.
Questions:
How Account Manager used in iOS??
In Android it is possible to share tokens for a service, does iOS have the same feature
Is there a centralized API or is this solved app-2-app?
Are there any security concepts available connected to this (restrict access to tokens to certain apps and so on)
Happy for short and quick responses!
// Jonas

There is not AccountManager type feature available in iOS. Yo need to add and implement Setting.bundle for your preferences as similar account manager will do in Android.

Centralized vs decentralized mobile application portals

Lately I've been reading this article about mobile app development. On page 25 / page 28 they talk about centralized and decentralized mobile application portals. Unfortunately, the article is very dated.
Let's say I want to categorize the main mobile platforms nowadays. Initially I would come up with something like this:
Google Android: centralized
Apple iOS: centralized
Windows Phone: centralized
BlackBerry OS: centralized
Firefox OS: decentralized
Amazon Fire OS: centralized
How would you complete this? I didn't find a way to validate these information. Google i.e. should be centralized because of the Google Play Store. However, there are alternative ways to download Android Apps like Aptoide. And then there is the Opera Mobile Store. You can download apps there for every platform. What does this mean for the categorization of mobile application portals?
Update: I'm still looking for some answers since I didn't figure out yet how to validate the information above. Any help is appreciated!
Update 2: After doing some further research, I was able to complete the list above. However, I'm still not sure if this really is correct. I added some bounty for those interested in reading the article and helping at my problem. Thanks.
Your list, so far, looks correct to me but Firefox OS has it´s own marketplace. So all of them have a way of working out and install your own stuff out of the store. Maybe Android is the most open of them all in that particular sense but they all try to keep the users hanging from their own named marketplace
As per the Article you mentioned :
Centralized portal
In this model, one portal is proposed as the main portal on which all
applications are published. This approach gives the main portal
provider a competitive advantage over others. Consumers can easily
find and download applications. It also facil- itates the job of
developers by offering a single point of sale. Centralized portals can
benefit from network effects by attract- ing more consumers and more
developers. Apple and Google propose a single point of sale with the
AppStore and the Android Market. However, these two platforms have
different approaches. On the one hand, Apple pushes a unique and
exclusive portal with a strict application review process. Google, on
the other hand, does not restrict the publication of appli- cations to
its portal. Moreover, there are no plans to review applications prior
to publication as it counts on consumers’ feed- back to exclude
inappropriate and low-quality applications.
Firefox OS: decentralized ?
No,because : There is a marketplace for Firefox As well where you can upload and download Apps.
Marketplace was started in 2013
Your Reference Article is outdated ! : 2010
Hence it did not included Firefox in centralized Portal !

Does AWS SDK for Android supports IAM new user creation?

I'm trying to create a new user in IAM using Amazon web-service SDK for Android.
But after searching a lot I couldn't find any sample codes or documentation clearly stating the above functionality. I saw this and also this.
The first link only works for Java SDK only.
So my question is does AWS SDK for Android support a way to create a new IAM user programatically?
I also faced the same problem.I mailed AWS technical support team for solution. They clearly stated that android sdk for aws does not supports the new user creation for IAM.
Actually I am not sure about IAM implementation for Android, as a Web Service you can use them in a deeper level anyway, but I don't think this is your needs.
I suggest you read IAM Limits, which shows some limitation on users number, which may be a problem for future growth.
In your scenario I would suggest this article which will require another layer to control user authentications with token control, it will solve user limitations, will give you a lot more security and control over your system.
After all, you can still using IAM for user's power level control, as another security layer.

integration of iCloud in Android device

I have checked out other links about icloud but all of them say that it is only for Iphones not for android developers but all the posts are of as old as of of near about july 2012
so can anyone please tell me is there any iCloud api or a procedure to implement icloud for android developers
I have also found some link where they have mentioned that iCloud is now renamed as Cloudme and there are apis in android market too
so if anyone can give a link or show a procedure to implement that code for android
it will be really helpful
thanks
No, Apple does not provide any iCloud APIs for Android, only for iOS devices and Macs. It's not an open system where third parties can create their own APIs. I don't know what "Cloudme" is, but it's not iCloud.

Active sync based Enterprise application on Android/IPhone platform

I am trying to create a Mobile Application which can give me access to Calendar, Schedules, Email and other features of a Exchange Account.
Can this be done using Active Sync? Can anyone please provide me some links of tutorials/examples sort on the same?
This is to be implemented on both Android and IPhone platform.
I have searched across, but i haven't gotten a clear answer.
Also i have a limitation that i cannot make changes to the exchange server configuration, since it will be a very high level business decision.
Let me know.
Thanks
In Android, Google has provided support for enterprise application through Device Policy management. Support for exchange email was introduced in early versions of Android (1.6) and support for calendar and event integration was added later in subsequent releases. Device Management application in Android 2.2

This is regarding google apps Device Management policy third party application which I got from android market in 2.2 .
I registered an account in Google Apps domain in order to use this account for enabling device management policies. I need to know the process in which remote wipe out feature can be achieved using this application in an enterprise manner. I need to login as an administrator in this application and need to wipe out the user secured data in his device on his request.
Is there a way in which I can achieve this using this 3rd party application?
I will be waiting for reply with the process in which this application can be used in Enterprise scenario.
Thanks in Advance.
If you are looking for device management in an enterprise scenario, you might want to take a look at Oracle Database Lite Mobile Server.
It provides enterprise device management features, including the ability to remotely wipe data on the client. However it does much more than that. It also includes a configurable two-way data sync engine and a management console for provisioning and monitoring devices. You can read more about it, and even try it out here:

Maybe overkill for what you’re trying to do, but if you also need to provision applications and sync data between your devices and a backend database, this could be an ideal solution for you.
Good luck, hope you find a solution that meets your needs.
