I released my first android app yesterday, and got the direct link to the app working after 6 hours. But Its been > 24 hours now, and it still doesnt show up in the search on playstore.
I have been searching in the playstore both from my android device, as well as from desktop browser. The app simply isnt there.
Is this common? Is there something I can do to check the status/find out whats happening?
Thanks a lot
EDIT: the direct link is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidinput
EDIT: The issue was indeed that the name "Droid Input" was too general. Changed it to Moused . Hopefully it makes it a tad better once the update is pushed to prod. Thanks for all your help!
Sometimes newly published apps take time until they appear in search results. The app needs to be indexed in the Play Store before it starts appearing in search results. Also, make sure the app name has enough unique keywords so that it's easier to spot while searching.
All my apps were searchable minutes after the direct link started working. Can you post the name of your app.
Check those in Developer console
published area
minimal Android os
make sure it's published in developer console
If it's all right, don't worry, just wait to published
If your app have any problem google will send email to you
First of all,
you must check if you have no other updates,
second check if the website is not under going several changes if so than you might have to wait a couple of days
check your device for any out of the normal activity
if this is not resolved make sure to contact the company and explain them your issue,
regularly it shouldn't be happening to only you so there might be others with the same issue as you, it is unlikely that it could be your device but there is always that possibility that it might.

Five days ago, my app was published by Google. With direct link everything works fine, but if I search the app with the exact title, the app is not shown in the results, not even if I scroll all the way down. It's not an app compatibility issue with my devices, it cannot be found as well on anonymous browser sessions.
Few month ago, I developed a similar app, which can be found nicely. I double checked everything, they are almost the same. I have no idea why my new app is not shown in results and there is no Google contact I could ask this.
Works fine if you search for "Bitcoin Node Observer" at this
link
Not listed in result search for "Bitcoin Address Observer"at this
link
Any help appreciated. Thank you!
Did you try searching it by it's app package name?
I have checked the given links and both of those lead to different apps from the same publisher
Seems like you have published the app recently, it generally takes 4-8 days for the app to be indexed.
Try using better SEO for the app to be listed better.
Refer this link for more about app indexing.
It's listed now... 8 days later.
While working on a feature for my app with AppLinks for Android. I have realized that it actually works without using the assetlinks.json file.
At first, I thought that this was because my app was an app for debug purpose, which wasn't signed and published through the store and that for testing purposed, Google decided to give us some space to work.
The day I released my app arrived, I put my app through Beta, installed my app from the store and tapped on a https://example.com and I was very surprised to see that I got asked which app I wanted to open this URL even though I had not make the assetlinks.json available from https://example.com/.well-known/assetlink.json.
Is there an explanation to that ?
Maybe the check is totally asynchronous and if at some point Google makes the check and find out you don't have this file, they shut it down until you fix it and ou have to wait until the next time they check you out ?
By the way, i have implemented the same functionality with iOS and in a very Apple-ish way, you really can't get around putting you apple-app-site-association file to the right spot and make it available from the right endpoint.
Thanks for the explanation :)
Guillaume.
Is there an explanation to that ?
What you describe has been the behavior since API Level 1 in 2008.
I was very surprised to see that I got asked which app I wanted to open this URL
This is called a "chooser". The point behind assetlinks.json is to avoid the chooser and drive straight to your app.
Don't know if it's ok to ask this question here, but I didn't know where to ask it...
I have made an app with an ad from AdMob. It works just fine, showing up in the app and everything. The problem is when I want to link my app in the AdMob interface, my app is not showing when I search the market.
But I know that it's actually on the market because I can find it when searching on play.google.com.
This is what I want to do. It says Link your app!
Anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?
Thanks!
It is this part that I have a problem with:
At the red arrow, where it says "Find your app in the search..." My app is not showing in the search result, but I know that it is on the market!
You need to wait a little bit more after publishing your app because AdMob indexes Play store and iTunes about every 48h.
My app took 2+ days to show up in Admob. Wait, it will show up.
If your app name is a bit too common (like mine was "memes") - I would recommend to search by developer name. Admob will try to list all apps of that developer.
Instead of APP name if you provide Developer name ,then it will show of list all APPs by the developer. Then select your required APP [which was not listed when searched].
Enjoy !!!!
I've been able to resolve it today by pasting the full AppStore URL to that search field.
If your App is published and available in the US region, this should probably work. Note that it may take up to 24 hours for the app to be visible on AppStore after releasing.
Make sure you publish the app for release. If your app is still in Beta it will not show up.
If you face issue linking your app and it takes more than 2 weeks you can contact google adMob team on google groups
Group name : Google Mobile Ads SDK Developers
Make sure you post your app details on the above group. My app was pending for 55 days and once I raised they have added my app in 24 hours.
I have to contacted the Google Mobile Ads SDK Developers group and they quickly fixed the issue for me. Now everything works!
Tip: If you didn't find your app by the name, try the following options:
the app's AppStore URL, for example: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-discover-new-music/id324684580
the app's store ID, for example: id324684580
the publisher name, for example: Spotify Ltd.
I had the same issue. I tried searching using the App Name, it did not show. I also tried entering the full App store url and it did not work either. So to resolve it, I did this:
Went to App Store Connect -> General -> App Information -> View on App Store
Copied only the last 2 part of the URL https://apps.apple.com/us/app/COPIED_THE_REST_FROM_HERE.
Went to AdMob and pasted the section of the URL that looks something like this: spotify-discover-new-music/id324684580.
After that it worked. If the App was just released, please wait atleast 24 hours so the App listing in the store is updated.
I just posted my first app to the Android market about half an hour ago (pretty stoked, really, but that's neither here nor there :p). The issue I'm running into is that I can't find it on the playstore. I've searched on my computer with all devices selected, as well as on my phone and tablet - which I used to test the app before publishing.
I've tried going directly to the link with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ptrprograms.asteroidbelt
I can also supply my manifest file if that's necessary. Thank you!
It takes a while to get propagated through their system. Wait a few hours, it'll show up.
When did you post your app? Take in consideration that there are many apps that may have a similar name so you have to scroll many pages down and it takes a lot of time to make the app available. Try to search the app using you account name in no more than 3 days. Maybe tomorrow... My friends had the same problem and they just waited.
I have some Android market feedback for my app Hire*A*Droid where users complain that they are unable to uninstall the application. Here's two I have so far (about 10 days apart):
janelle: I uninstalled this app, but its still showing that its
installed under my downloads. What can i do ?
valerie: It's frozen I can't open or delete it.
anyone can help n tell me how..thanks
The app has nothing really special or tricky about it and I never experienced anything of the sort so I'm really lost at what this may be, how real it is and how to reproduce and deal with it? Any ideas, suggestions? If you have any questions that you think may help with this problem I'll be happy to provide more details
P.S. Worth nothing to mention - both complaints cost me a single star rating and no additional info was provided
P.P.S. After comment from PHP Jedi I noticed similar comments for other apps while browsing Android Market. I think this is quite common and it looks like Market bug. I will try to open a bug on Android Market support site

I purchased a DROID a week back and was having the same problem. To uninstall an application from the DROID do the following.
Uninstalling an application from Android OS v2.1
Go to settings.
Go to Applications
Go to Manage applications.
Touch the application you wish to uninstall.
Touch uninstall.
Enjoy the fact that the application is gone.
The confusion I'm guessing your commenter's are having is when you hold your finger on an application you can drag it to a trash bin. This makes you think you are deleting the application when really you are removing it from your favorite applications list. Its very misleading.
from what i understand (i don't work on Market myself), the "Downloads" list inside Market can be out of date for up to a day, until it next gets an update from the server. the app isn't actually installed anymore, and Settings > Applications > Manage Applications will show that it is indeed gone.
i reported this as a Market bug internally last year. i've just added a link to this page from that bug, and i'll try to get someone to look at it.
(it may even already be fixed in newer versions. it would be interesting to know the most recent version you've seen it in.)
I could not say why the users complain, but I could say that your application work without problem on my HTC Magic, I don't get error when I tried to uninstall it.
Best Regards
