i am doing an android app that launches camera and capture an image, then crop and save the image. Then takes the image for some process.
i was trying with some suggestions and tutorials by searching on Google. but i am getting error after cropping. The image is being cropped and actual image remains in SD-Card also the cropped image saved as "image~2" in same location. but while we try to use the cropped image filenotfoundException is returned. Any one please help me.
"can i post my code?" - You should, actually, if you want some help here... Anyway considering the exception, you're searching for the image where it is not.
Or you can try this: https://github.com/edmodo/cropper

in my app I capture a photo using intent MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE and I save image into external storage that is private to my app. I also save the path to taken picture.
In next step I would like to crop 3 pictures from this photo but I cannot figure out how to do it. I found this article Crop an Image by passing the image file path in Android but the answer uses com.android.camera.action.CROP, which is often not supported. I would like to crop it like this
Bitmap bmp=BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.xyz);
resizedbitmap1=Bitmap.createBitmap(bmp, 0,0,yourwidth, yourheight);
but I need to crop picture according to user selection. Can anyone help me with this? I am pretty stuck here.
So I ended up using some third party library for cropping pictures. I recommend you to do the same. You will find plenty of them on github, choose according to your preferences.
I'm creating an image filter app in Android studio. first, the user selects an image from gallery or captures image using camera and it will be displayed in imageview. Then the user clicks edit button and that image is displayed in imageview of next activity where we can add filters... It works fine with low resolution images but when I select any high resolution image or click a high resolution image it is shown in first imageview but when I click edit button either the app crashes or the last image I had selected is displayed. So instead of passing bitmap I thought of passing image uri.I found the solution for image selected from gallery but I want the uri of captured image. I searched for the solution but couldn't find it. If anyone knows how to solve this problem please help me. THANKS
Could you post the code of what you have tried. A quick google search gave me this answer: How to get Image Path just captured from camera . hope it helps
I want to do image downloading as whatsapp does as blur images appear and when we click on image clear image gets downloaded.I want to do the same kind of work in my android App.Can anyone suggest how to achieve this?
You can use any image loading liabrary(Picasso,Glide or UIL)
Firstly load image of low quality say if you using Picasso
Picasso.with(this).load("....").resize(100,100).into(imageViews);
than on click load full image.
I want to show Thumbnails for images present on device in a GridView and I'm using getThumbnail method to get thumbnails. But for some reason when I set returned thumbnails to ImageViews in gridview, they are not clear(blurry). For example, if there's a text in an image then I'm not able to read that text in my app whereas I can read it in the native android gallery app. I hope this gives a idea of what my problem is. I think its probably because the imageview size is greater than image size.
I have tried to use methods like extractThumbnail in conjunction with BitmapFactory.Options inSampleSize but sometimes it generate OutOfMemoryException.
What should I do to resolve this issue so that the thumbnails are as clear as they appear in android native gallery application?
If I remember correctly, getThumbnail will return a scaled image. If you are then scaling that image back up to fit in your GridView, then that would account for the blurriness.
You can try scaling the images to the correct size yourself, then displaying it to the GridView.
You may also want to look at UIL. It is an awesome Open Source project that helps with Image Loading and can fix your memory issue.
I have a surface view, 3 buttons one each for capture, use(invisible) and retake(invisible). I am using the Camera to take a picture. On image capture, use and retake buttons become visible and capture goes invisible. How to save the image in SD card on clicking the use button. Can anyone help with any example code. ??
Inshort I dont want to skip retake and skip option after capturing a pic in android !!! No use of intents !! only using android camera
How to skip 'retake and use' option after captureing photo from camera
Here is a nice tutorial on taking picture in Android: http://www.vogella.com/tutorials/AndroidCamera/article.html
In the nutshell, after you call Camera.takePicture(), a onPictureTaken() callback is called with jpeg image in byte[]. You convert this image to bitmap (preferably scaled down) for display, and you can write this byte[] as is to a .jpg file if the user likes it.
