Please give me the code where i need to change....????
Use your LocationManager to set the refresh rate of your location:
LocationManager.requestLocationUpdates(
LocationManager.NETWORK_PROVIDER,
MIN_TIME_BW_UPDATES,
MIN_DISTANCE_CHANGE_FOR_UPDATES, this);
Then, inside your onLocationChanged(Location l) method, post the Toast message:
#Override
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Long: " + location.getLongitude() + ", Lat: " + location.getLatitude(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
This will fire a Toast message everytime the location of the user changes.

I am trying to create a primitive "Get current location app" in android studio.
Once I press the button on the main page I want the current latitude and longitude to show up in a toast. For some reason it keeps showing up as 0.0 for both of them.
I have been going through the debugger and I have found out that the Network provider is not available. I do not know if this is due to using the emulator on android studio or not.
If someone can tell me what the problem is/how to fix it that would be amazing.
This is my MainActivity
import android.app.Activity;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;

// show location button click event
btnShowLocation.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View arg0) {
// create class object
gps = new GPSTracker(MainActivity.this);
// check if GPS enabled
if(gps.canGetLocation()){
double latitude = gps.getLatitude();
double longitude = gps.getLongitude();
// \n is for new line

I use this code in MainActivity to get location
//object in mainactivity
GPSTracker x=new GPSTracker(MainActivity.this);
Toast.makeText(MainActivity.this, "Latitude -> "+x.getLocation(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
but it gives me null
here`s my mainactivity
package com.example.b;
import android.location.Location;
import android.location.LocationManager;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.content.Context;
import android.view.Menu;
import android.widget.Toast;
public class MainActivity extends Activity {
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
GPSTracker x=new GPSTracker(MainActivity.this);
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Latitude : " + x.getLocation(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
#Override
public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
// Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present.
getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.main, menu);
return true;
}
}
Try this, the listener passes the location object to onLocationChanged() callback, Change your onLocationChanged() callback to this and see if you get the Toast or not:
#Override
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
this.location=location;
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Latitude : " + location.getLatitude(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
I tested your code on my Galaxy S3. It worked.
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_MOCK_LOCATION" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" />
GPSTracker x=new GPSTracker(MainActivity.this);
Log.i("location", "Latitude : " + x.getLocation());

I have created an activity which gives user location and this information is send to server using web service.Till this, project runs successfully. But I want to run this activity as a service, so i have created Service and copied the activity code and paste it into service code. But it doesnt work?? I have research regarding this but cant figure it out.

There are too many errors in your code!
1)You use a service GPSTracker which is not declared in manifest file
2)start the service
3)You have to register location listeneners
4)You have to use onLocationChanged to get new locations
5) Use onStatusChanged and onLocationChanged to get the gps status
