Integrate Android Paypal for my application, however their are few question thats bugging me regarding the sdk.
For their latest paypal sdk https://github.com/paypal/PayPal-Android-SDK:
A1) Is there a way to set a orderId or something similar so my server know what my customer buy?
A2) If my app is not operate in US, am I able to use the full feature (paypal and credit card payment)?
A3) How do I disable the card reader and only allow user to key in their card number or is it possible at all?
For their paypal MPL sdk https://github.com/paypal/sdk-packages/tree/gh-pages/MPL
B1) Currently getting "Please make sure all field have been entered" error message and error id 10004 on sand box while running the sample code. Any idea how to fix it or is it their server issue?
B2) Should I still use MPL when they trying to phase it out?
I'll try to answer all of these:
A1. The underlying REST API does not support this feature, though it is expected to be added soon.
A2. You can accept payments in any location and in any supported currency. Restrictions are only where the merchant account (e.g. your account) is opened, since each country's laws are slightly different. This list gives more detail.
A3. You cannot disable the card.io scanner. The idea is that it is easier to use, so can you help me understand the rationale for this request?
B. Please don't use the MPL. It's not maintained and has an inferior UI.

I am trying to integrate the Lyft Ride Request API into my Android app - specifically the Lyft Button. When I attempt to add my app in their developer's console, I see the following after adding the app:
On April 15th, Lyft made changes to its developer platform. As a
result, this application no longer has access to the API platform. You
can read more about the changes here. If you think this change is made
in error, please reach out to your Lyft representative.
The link that is provided does not contain any relevant information nor is there anyone or anything to consult on their website for assistance.
Is the Lyft Button no longer available. If it is, what are the app requirements?
So I decided to ignore the No Access message and I went ahead and integrated the Lyft Button API into my application and all seemed to work.
Lyft Button API integration for android is at this URL:
Lyft Button API
One point of confusion was the requirement for a client token and client id. You do not have to supply a token or an id. You can use "..." as shown in the API instructions for both values.
I was able to confirm that the button is successful in grabbing start and destination locations and launching the Lyft app which then shows the route and vehicles in the area with ride prices.
There is no sandboxing option for testing, so be careful. It looks like any rides you order and confirm will be charged to your credit card.
My company is working on a project where we mainly need two-three things from facebook get back the list of friends who are using our application, send any kind of invitation to other friends and maybe post on user wall.
What are our possibilities since I see that version 2.0 is very limited compared to 1.0 I just want to confirm this with someone who has recently did more research on this.
How I see Graph API( /me/friends) only returns the list of friends who are using the application and gave permission for user_friends. And pretty much no way of getting full firend list of a user.
Second sending notifcations or any kind of message to new users or is there possibility to share it on IOS/Android. After some research how I see chat, messaging is depricated only https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/reference/send-dialog is available and
invitable_friends only available for games.
Is there anything that we might be missing could anyone give us some advice what is possible since there are a lot of suggestions on the internet on this but not all are up to date.
You are correct Friends list will only return app using friends . And invitable_friends is only for gaming app. I was hoping that something would change in Graph API 2.1 but they have become more strict .
Rest API which was depricated is now stopped. Here are changes in Graph API verision 2.1 as compared to version 2.0
This is the way facebook wants it, so appereantly there is no way to get friends list or to send invites to Non App using friends
You can see the future migrations and Platform version details indicating Facebook is in no mood to make any changes regarding this in near future
I'm no expert but I created an android app that accepts a payment for a download then gives the customer that download once payment is confirmed. I used the PayPal SDK for Android, their example app is here https://github.com/paypal/PayPal-Android-SDK which I am basing my code on.
My little app works well, I'm very pleased with it. I have one BIG issue, should a customer want a refund I go into PayPal to issue it, if they paid via PayPal login it's easy, scroll down, look for their name or email and click refund. If they paid by direct card payment it's very different. If you go into papa and look you can spot the card payments quite clearly, they have no name or email attached to them, in fact there is no personal detail to associate the payment to them at all.
How on earth is that acceptable? I can't locate a customers payment in PayPal to even know if they really are a customer. Surely it should at leafs be able to give you a name?
Am I missing something in the SDK? Is there perhaps a field I'm not populating that puts detail into the Paypal transaction?
Any help and / or code snippets would be very much appreciated.
At this time, your app should correlate the payment ID returned by the SDK with your customer/sale and communicate this back to your server. This way, you can use the payment ID to get the associated transaction ID to refund.
I am having an android app for an e-shop. So far the user after he chooses an item, he gets a reservation number and then he can call the shop and using this number he can verify the order and he pays it there. What I want is to update my app and make the user be able to order and pay from the app- either with paypal or a cedit card? What should I use? Are there any references, any sample code, any books maybe on that? And how can I make it secure or test it? Is it possible in android or not?
You can try http://OpenPayments.Mobi. They offer a set of very advanced FREE services to incorporate In-App Purchases from any platform including Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, etc. They currently offer PayPal and Google checkout payments.
I also suggest you see this link https://www.x.com/developers/paypal/products/mobile-payment-libraries
I have a few questions regarding android market(Google play). How can I list my published application by accessing from my google account? What I have done so far is using my application package name as a query string to search my application and display all information which I used android market api to do it. Is there another better way to display all my published or installed applications by accessing from my google accounts?
My second question is about detecting number of downloading and installations of my published application. I have found only google analytics so far(for free) which I need to embedded some codes to monitoring my application. Is it possible for me to access those information from android market publish page . I have found that publish page contains information that I need.
Edited: For second question, I would like to obtain statistical information without adding any new code to my application. Is it possible to provide only google account to grant the permission to get those information?
My application is published. If I am using google analytics to monitoring my application do I need to start my counting from zero?
Sorry for my English and my little knowledge about this.
Thanks in advance..
Edited: .. I have found an application, called "analytics" that is what exactly I want to do. But I still cannot figure it out how it works..
The only place you will find this kind of information is on your Developer page. That said, if I were wanting to do what you are, I would put up an app on App Engine that either parsed my Dev page on request, or on a schedule. I mention App Engine as personal preference here, you could obviously use anywhere you can host scripts on.
You can then do what you like with the data you have collected, and your app can request this from your site. Assuming you have no qualms with publicising these numbers, you wouldn't need to scare users by authenticating, and would just need a plain html request.
Edit:
In your language of choice, you would need to request your developer page (the one that lists apps and their install count) and would also need to authenticate as yourself to get it. It's for this reason I would use your own hosting if you can. I can't be more specific than this, as I don't know what language you're most likely to be using. It should be trivial to find out how to do an html request and step through the page in whatever language it is though. App Engine pages are written in Java or Python and deployed to the server, while other obvious options are PHP or Perl. On my own server I would most likely use Perl as it's ideal for ripping up html with regexps.
