Can't click on element in ListView Android

I am trying to create a custom list. My list is contained in a Fragment that correctly implements onScrollListener and populates the list using an adapter. The problem is that I cannot click on each item and I cannot figure out why. Here there is the code of my layout fragment
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:background="#ffffff"
android:clickable="true">
<ListView
android:id="#+id/listNotification"
android:scrollbars="none"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:footerDividersEnabled="false"
android:headerDividersEnabled="false"
android:paddingStart="15dp"
android:paddingEnd="15dp"
android:clickable="true"
/>
</LinearLayout>
and here there is the code of my custom list
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="match_parent"

Remove android:clickable="true" from the ListView and it's parent in your XML layout, and also from the root of your list item layout.

ListView with BaseAdapter and LinearLayout?

I'm trying create a BaseAdapter to my ListView. The problem is when I do create a LinearLayout inside other LinearLayout the listener OnItemClickListener doesn't works. If I put the components outside of LinearLayout works fine.
How could I do this works ?
ListView
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
<ListView
android:id="#+id/lvEntregasPendente"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"

It seems your CheckBox is stealing the focus.
Try setting these properties on it:
android:focusable="false"
android:focusableInTouchMode="false"
android:clickable="false"

Gridview numbering

I have this gridview. is it possible to have numbers on the side of gridview like in excel 1,2,3 or a, b, c ,d
my code
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<GridView
android:id="#+id/gridview"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:numColumns="4"
android:stretchMode="columnWidth" />
</RelativeLayout>
something i want to achieve
You'll have to add numbering to each of the cells and only display it when it is the leftmost cell.
Cell layout
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="horizontal">
<TextView
android:id="#+id/row_number"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:gravity="center"/>
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content">
<!-- The rest of your layout -->
</LinearLayout>
</LinearLayout>
In your Adapter
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
View v = LayoutInflater.from(context).inflate(R.layout.grid_cell);
TextView rowNumber = (TextView) v.findViewById(R.id.row_number);
if (position % colNum == 0) { // colNum: number of columns
int row = position / colNum + 1; // get the row number
rowNumber.setText(String.valueOf(row));
rowNumber.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
} else {
rowNumber.setVisibility(View.GONE);
}
return v;
}
Note: For the sake of simplicity I am not using the ViewHolder pattern. But you should!
// try this way hope this will help you...

setadapter for android not working. empty adapter or listview?

im just trying to create a listview using a simple adapter. the setadapter is not working. this is my code. my setcontentview is before this block of code and this is in oncreate.
ArrayList<HashMap<String,String>> arraylist = new ArrayList<HashMap<String,String>>();
HashMap<String,String> map = new HashMap<String,String>();
map.put("CType", "Alarm");
map.put("RType", "Once");
map.put("hour", "1");
map.put("minute", "1");
map.put("second", "30");
arraylist.add(map);
String[] stringarray= new String[] {"CType", "RType", "hour","minute","second"};
int[] intarray = new int[] {R.id.clocktextviewalarmtimer,R.id.clocktextviewrepeatonce,
R.id.clocktextviewhours,R.id.clocktextviewminutes,R.id.clocktextviewseconds};
ListView clocklistview = (ListView)findViewById(R.id.clocklistview);
SimpleAdapter adapter = new SimpleAdapter(this,arraylist,R.layout.list_clock,stringarray,intarray);
clocklistview.setAdapter(adapter);
this is the xml that contains my listview
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Here's an example of a custom adapter. Try this ...

#Override
public int getCount() {

ListView is showing gapes in list items Android

i am trying to implement listView through setListAdapter and Efficient Adapter. I want that when list is show then the background should not be repeat. My code is repeating the whole layout of list.xml due to which my list item are showing with so much gap.
Right now my list is working like that:
But i want this type of view:
Here is my editText.xml in which i type the word and a list View is opened.
<EditText
android:id="#+id/start_edit"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="50dp"
android:layout_gravity="top|left"
android:ems="10"
android:hint="Type to search"
android:paddingLeft="50dp" >
<requestFocus />
</EditText>
this layout is for list.xml :
<RelativeLayout
android:id="#+id/RelativeLayout_list"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:background="#drawable/blue_cellbar" >
the list.xml file is repeating the layout in Effecient adapter:
here is my code:
listAdapter = new EfficientAdapter2(this);
setListAdapter(listAdapter);
public static class viewHolder2 {
TextView word;
TextView meaning;
ImageView image;
ImageView image_color;
RelativeLayout cell;
}
private class EfficientAdapter2 extends BaseAdapter implements Filterable,OnItemClickListener {
private Context context;
LayoutInflater inflater;
public EfficientAdapter2(Context context) {
this.context = context;
inflater = LayoutInflater.from(context);
}
public int getCount() {
// if(SearchWordString.isEmpty()==false)
// {
return SearchWordString.size();
/// }
//return 0;
}
public Object getItem(int position) {
return position;
}
public long getItemId(int position) {
return position;
}
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
viewHolder2 holder;
if (convertView == null) {
convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.list, null);

I hope you have not provide android:dividerHeight attribute in your layout file under <ListView/>
If so please remove it.
this problem occurs when you have set the adapter class xml, parent root
match_content instead of wrap_content.
set the root content height wrap_content
As i can see in adapter layout there is no parent root like relative, linearlayout, Framelayout and ConstraintLayout etc.
