I have implemented datepicker dialog in my app successfully, have doubt in disabling the dates, check it out my code
To get the year which is 13 year above the current year

Now i need to show the date upto the date which is 13 years before the current date,
i have used dialog.getDatePicker().setMaxDate(finaldate);
line to filter the dates but no luck.`have tried with google but dint get the proper solution. help me to get the solution.

To calculate a date 13 years ago from today:
Calendar then = Calendar.getInstance();
then.add(Calendar.YEAR, -13);
To apply it as the max date in date picker:
...getDatePicker().setMaxDate(then.getTimeInMillis());

To start with, I'd suggest using LocalDate instead of DateTime for the computations. Ideally, don't use java.util.Date at all, and take your input as LocalDate to start with (e.g. by parsing text straight to that, or wherever your data comes from.) Set the day of month to 1 in both dates, and then take the difference in months:

Using Joda-time library here, I was able to get the desired result.
Try the below code it would give the desired the difference in months.
DateTime date1 = new DateTime().withDate(2012, 10, 19);
DateTime today = new DateTime().withDate(2015, 10, 19);
// calculate month difference
int diffMonths = Months.monthsBetween(date1.withDayOfMonth(1), today.withDayOfMonth(1)).getMonths();

In my application i am displaying a calendar of days in a horizontal scrollable listview like below :
The dates are proper and the current date is also selected, the issue i am facing is the week day that is displayed.It is not proper. The code written to displayed this kind of calendar is as follows:

There is an error in weekdays that is being displayed. What am i missing here? Not able to figure out the issue.

int month = Calendar.MONTH;
These are flags belonging to calendar to get and set values, and do not indicate the current year and month. You would need to get the year and month from the current device time and do:
int year = currentYear;
int month = currentMonth;
Calling Calendar.getInstance() gets the calendar for the current day:
Calendar now = Calendar.getInstance();
You can then use the flags like so:
int month = now.get(Calendar.MONTH);
int year = now.get(Calendar.YEAR);
On one of my app I'm using datepicker class to retrieve data form archive.
I need to set **Max and Min **. On DatePicker.Dialog,
i was able to set **Max to the current time ** however, i counted do for **Min **. if someone to help me i really appreciate it. thanks in advance!
I am looking set setMaxDate = to current year
and setMinDate = two years back from current year(current year -2)
NB: I triad to look if this question was already answered. But, i couldn't get one. all that i see is minData = current timedialog.getDatePicker().setMinDate(new Date().getTime()); which I am not looking for that. i want to set it to different year than the current.

Get the date after subtracting 2 years :

specific date is "2013-11-12".
I want to extract day, month and year from above date. Please let me know how can I extract?
You can use split().
Example :
String mydate="2013-11-12"; //year-month-day
String myyear=mydate.split("-")[0]; //0th index = 2013
String mymonth=mydate.split("-")[1]; //1st index = 11
String myday=mydate.split("-")[2]; //2nd index = 12
you can use substring method to extract the particular characters from the above string like:
String year=date.substring(0,4); //this will return 2013
String month=date.substring(5,7); //this will return 11
String day=date.substring(8,10); //this will return 12
You can also use Calendar
Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance();
calendar.setTime(new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd", Locale.ENGLISH).parse("2013-11-12"));
int day = calendar.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH);
int month = calendar.get(Calendar.MONTH);

You can do it using SimpleDateFormat and Calendar Class.

Now you can use this cal Object to do whatever you want. Not just the date, month or year. you cam use it to perform various operations, such as add month, add year etc...
Create date object from your date string first, like...
String yourDateString = "2013-11-12";
SimpleDateFormat parser = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd");
Date yourDate = parser.parse(yourDateString);
Now create Calender instance to get further information about date...
Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance();
calendar.setTime(yourDate);
int months = calendar.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH);
int seconds = calendar.get(Calendar.SECOND);

The past few days I've been searching for ways to get a 'readable' date out of my calendarview from android 4.0. I can't manage to find a solution or example that suits my problem. I did get it in miliseconds but not in a date format.
My problem is: I have a calendarview and I want the selected date by the user, shown in logcat in a dateformat yy-mm-dd.
I was used to the datepicker from android 2.2 and I'm not familiar with calendarview and can't find much about it either. Does anyone know a solution for this?
Okay so here is how to do this. When you fire your calendarview activity or a calendarview inside your activity it sets the date to the current date(meaning today). To get this current date just use the Calendar object provided by the java api to get this date example below:
