Autocomplete textview with oval shape corners - android

I want to create the shape of autocomplete textview shown in the figure and text should come in center of it.
Currently I am trying to implement it as

Its better to use 9 patch image as a background of your TextView.
With using 9 patch image you can set proper resolution for different resolution device.And it will give you better result .

You write a seperate xml layout(shape.xml) having code:

note that your "expected screen" has some small shadow under inner color area, you won't achieve this with common drawable, even with layer-list

You need to create a Shape drawable for all of your buttons. For eg the center button can use below drawable as background.

For the other two you need rounded edges only on left and right.For that you may follow This post on SO.
*Note: change the colors according to your needs and you will also require a selector to be applied on each button to highlight the selection.
The left and right borders can also be removed using shape drawable.For more details please see This post

Set width to "0dp" and weight to "1" for all your buttons and wrap them inside a horizontal LinearLayout

Why don't you use one linear layout with blue border as parent of 3 textViews with background. No need to make it complicated.

Edittext change border color with shape.xml

I make a shape.xml file under res -> drawable folder.

Why using selector as the root tag? selector is used for applying multiple alternate drawables for different states of the view, so in this case, there is no need for selector.
Try the following code.
