I accidentally disabled the 'Inject Language/Reference' of the android:title in Preference. After that, now I won't able to go to the reference of the string.
<Preference
android:title="#string/refreshing" <-- disabled
android:key="refreshing" <-- enabled
/>
I'm using Android Studio, any ideas to enable it again?
Had the same problem. In Android Studio select the text and then press Mac + SHIFT + A. Then type un-inject Language/Reference. Hope that helps.

When I write something on the android studio, the line goes on over the right screen. How do I turn on word soft wrap in android studio?
If you are on mac and want to soft wrap just the current active Editor, here is how to do it: -
On the menu bar
View -> Active Editor -> Soft-Wrap
Please goto "File->Settings->Editor->General" tab and check "Use soft wraps in editor". it will solve your problem.
Updates: As #ThePartyTurtle mentioned on the comment some versions of Android Studio specifically from v3.5.3 This option is available via
Android Studio->Preferences...->Editor->General
You go to Android Studio > Preferences > Editor > General > Soft Wraps
then you have to indicate what type of documents you want the soft wrap to be applied on. Be sure to separate each type with a semicolon.
example: *.md; *.txt; *.rst; *.adoc; *.dart; *.plist;
Image that complements the explanation of the menus
If u want to use soft wrap by default go through the following steps
step-1 : Click on view ( in Navigation bar )
step-2 : Choose Active Editor
step-3 : Click on Soft wrap
that's it ...
File>Settings>Editor>General
Android Studio Arctic Fox Solution
From the menu:
File > Settings > General
Tick the Soft-wrap these files checkbox.
File > Settings > General
Tick the "Soft-wrap these files:" checkbox, and write *.*
Apply > OK
Here's my 2 cents:
A quick way to toggle word-wraps:
Ctrl + Shit + A : (opens a search window with "Actions" tab enabled.)
Type Soft wrap
Press enter on the first search-result: View | Active Editor Soft-wrap
Cheers 🍻
If you are on mac: Android Studio -> Preferences -> Editor -> General -> Soft-wrap these files
If you are on Windows : Settings > Editor > General > Soft-wrap these files
To enable Soft-wrap, write the following code in the box in front of the checkbox
*.* to wrap all the files in the editor
*.<extension_of_file> to wrap files with specific extension an separated by semicolon
In Android Studio, my cursor is white rectangle. I'm cannot write anything. And changed my keyboard button actions.
h-->left arrow j-->down arrow k--> up arrow l-->right arrow
How can I fix problem or can I reset Android Studio settings?
Just got the same problem as yours. And this is the solution:
Go to File > Settings > Editor > General > Appearance, then uncheck the Use block caret
Try fn + ins. That worked for me.
Go to settings and plugins and just disable the IdeaVim plugin it works in 2020.itx also occurs due to this extension.
In windows, win+insert worked for me.
Presse Fn+0. It will work instantly.
go to plugins and disable IdeaVim then restart android studio it will be ok ...
Press Fn + Del on your keyboard together.
Explanation: Its because Delete key on keyboard has Insert function. So pressing Del along with Fn key will enable Insert mode within your editor from Overwrite mode as in your case.
It's ins in the latest version of Android Studio.
In windows if you press INSERT key cursor mode will get change, use WINDOWS + INSERT to get back into normal mode
For mac users just right click and deselect "Column selection mode" or press Shift + Command + 8
Just restart Android Studio and voilà !
None of the other solutions worked for me (Windows 7, maybe with an inactive Lock Num key).
i am facing problem in android studio. In eclipse when i want to use class like Intent, then i write intent starting with lower case it give me suggestion box indicating class name Intent, but in android studio if i type intent starting with lower case it does not Provide Suggestion class name Intent. Thanks in advance.
In my case Ctrl + Space was overloaded by mac shortcuts. And even in the case, I disabled them, they conflict with Android Studio.
So, I gave them another keys and it solved the problem.
Go to the System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Input Sources and use new keys for them.
The problem is that Android Studio has different key binding than Eclipse, but you can set the key binding to be the same as in eclipse in android studio settings. Also by default ctrl + space is case sensitive in Android studio, you need to turn that off too.
Move to File -> Settings -> Keymap and change keymaps settings to eclipse so that you can use the short cut keys like in eclipse.
You can set 'Case sensitive completion' to 'None' in IDE Settings > Editor > Code Completion.
That should do it :)
File --> Settings --> Editor --> General --> Code Completion --> Case sensitive completion --> None
eclipse has display tool(window -> show view) in debug, I want to call variable or method name like eclipse so where is the display tool in android studio ??
please help, thanks
I think what you're looking for is the 'Evaluate Expression' window, which pops up with a ALT+F8 combo. Here is some more info.
Yes "Evaluate Expression" in Android studio is like the "Display view" in eclipse. In case you're not sure of the shortcut, Go to Run > Evaluate Expression.
Hope that helps
I have updated my Android Studio to the newest version, but now when I call the auto-completion/suggestions with CTRL+SPACE the suggestion box opens but the documentation window opens as well.
Has anyone experienced this and know how to disable the opening of the documentation window?
I'm using Android Studio 0.8.1 on OSX and have been experiencing the same irritating behavior.
The answer by #daniel-gabriel was not was I was looking for.
A better solution seems to be to go to Preferences > IDE Settings section > Editor > Code Completion (in AS 1.2.2 located in Preferences->Editor->General) and unticking the option Autopopup documentation in (ms):
Ctrl-Q toggles between doc window states (when using the default keymap).
Possible states are:
-Hidden
-Shown to the side of the auto-complete list
-Docked as one of the tabs
If you have a different keymap, you can search for this action in Settings -> Keymap. The action is called "Quick Doc".
For ubuntu 14.04 :
File > Settings > Editor > General > Code Completion
And unticking Autopopup Documentation will hide it.
For Windwos && Linux (ubuntu) :
File > Settings > Editor > General > Code Completion
For Mac :
Android Studio > Preferences > Editor > General > Code Completion
1. unChecked : AutoPopup documentation (in CodeCompletion)
2. unChecked : AutoPopup (in Parameter Info)
On Mac OSX, to restore the Documentation window to an auto-hide popup, toggle the popup window toolbar to checked state, from the popup windows gear icon, and then click "Restore Popup" icon in the documentation window toolbar.
I prefer the quicker solutions...
Press Ctrl + Space and let the "Documentation" window pop-up.
1) Click on the Settings icon and uncheck all the options except "Docked Mode".
2) Now push documentation window to the right, so as to make it invisible.
With this even though with press of "Ctrl + Space", internally command will pass
to open the Documentation Window but it will not be visible and interfere with the
workspace.
I hope that helps. Happy Coding...
