Save captured image in specific folder on sd card - android

I'm working with camera in android and I'm new to android camera. I've followed the tutorial from here
Whenever I'll add External storage permission in android manifest, camera saves it in default directory without asking me and I want to save it in my own folder created in sd card. I'd searched a lot but couldn't find any useful link. Please help, any help will be much appreciated. Thank you :)

You can add this code in onActivityResult. This will store your image in a folder named "YourFolderName"

You can tell the camera where you would like the photo to be stored via EXTRA_OUTPUT, as is shown in the documentation's training module on ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE.
There is no requirement for all cameras to store images where you ask it to, though. If the file that you ask for does not exist after the image is taken, you will need to fall back to your existing application logic.

You can assign a path to write the image data to specific location like this:
String fileName = "/mnt/sdcard/foldername";
FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(fileName);
fos.write(data);

Android: write photo files on SD Card that are viewable in the gallery

I'm trying to found a way (compatible with android kitkat and next) to write photos on the SD Card and make them visible to the gallery app.
If I use Environment.getExternalStoragePublicDirectory , samsung devices return a path in internal memory (/storage/emulated/0/ ... )
If I use Context.getExternalFilesDirs , there are two results : the first one on internal storage, and the second one on SD Card. Ok, I can write inside and the photo is on the SDCard. But I can't see it in the Galery app :'(
I have tried to write directly on /storage/externalSdCard/DCIM/ but of course I can't since I'm running kitkat.

First, when you are done writing to the file, call flush(), then getFD().sync(), then close(), all on your FileOutputStream.
Then, use MediaScannerConnection and its scanFile() method to get the newly-written file indexed by the MediaStore.

Android Wear: how to store image data into watch

I'm looking for how to store image data into my app on Android Wear.
What I want to do are followings:
Take a photo and send it to my watch. (via DataMap)
My watch displays the photo.
When my app on Android Wear restarts, the app displays the photo taken before.
For now, the photo is cleared after restart the app. I want to store the photo.
Are there any ways to save the photo into the watch.

I believe you are having problems because openFileInput() is for internal storage, not external storage. In fact there is no reason for using Environment.getExternalStorage(). I don't believe the watches have external storage anyway.
Try something like openFileOutput("test.jpg", Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE); (fyi MODE_WORLD_READABLE is deprecated).
Then use openFileInput("test.jpg") to get it back.
The reason you are getting an error is openFileOutput() cannot have subdirectories.

Save Images and copy all images in sd card

I have 10 images and want to save all this images in android application memory . so whenever any use install this apps , he have already this all images .
i have hard coded many times and not get good response .
is there any way . so i will done it.

Store all your images in the assets folder of your APK. Once it gets installed, scan the internal memory to see if desired images are there. If not, copy them there. In this way, even when users clear data of your application, you can copy them back. Another good thing is the user will not know anything about it as well, so it a good user-experience. Only thing would be your APK size would increase, so manage accordingly.

You can keep the files in your asset or res folder , here I have kept the file in res/drawable/ and copy them on sdcard when I require. In below code first we check if file doesn't exist the we create a bitmap from the drawable and write the file out to sdcard.

android give name to bitmap and save it

I have a bitmap that I want to save to the sd card. I have 2 problems with that:
Set a name to the saved file
Save the file
I looked around Stack Overflow and couldn't find anything that worked, for both problems (mostly for the saving part, the set name part just got me all confused)
Is there a simple straight forward solution to this?

can't save file in android file system

I'm trying to capture a photo with the camera and save it (to be previewed later) and it seems to work with the emulator but when I use it on my GalaxyS - it doesn't save the file (I use RootExplorer to check) and there's no preview.
What am I doing wrong?

i think i found the problem.
instead of outStream = openFileOutput(filename, Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE); i should use outStream = getApplicationContext().openFileOutput(filename, Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE);
but now i'm facing a new one - the file seems to be corrupted cause when i open it with the Android's viewer it's just black and its size is always 18474 bytes.
any ideas?
Where are you storing the image? Have you tried using an absolute path? Do you have the read/write external permission in the manifest?
I used something like this in my program to store an image in a directory the same as my package name.
File path = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(), context.getPackageName() );
File imagePath = new File(path,"capture_image.jpg");
EDIT:
If its your first time using the sd card for your given package name you will need to create the directory before trying to write to it.
