I am currently modifying an android app that I need to add a listview to an existing fragment. As I am new to android, I am just imitating the code from the apps. I created a new arrayadapter, a new class of data and made some modifies to the existing fragment class. The problem is I cannot see my list in the app. Below are my codes.
Adapter
public class RecordArrayAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<CheckInRecord.CheckInRec> {
private int resourceId;
private Context context;
private List<CheckInRecord.CheckInRec> checkInRec;
public RecordArrayAdapter(Context context, int resourceId, List<CheckInRecord.CheckInRec> checkInRec)
{
super(context, resourceId, checkInRec);
this.resourceId = resourceId;
this.context = context;
this.checkInRec = checkInRec;
}
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent)
{
if (convertView == null){
LayoutInflater inflater = ((Activity)context).getLayoutInflater();
convertView = inflater.inflate(resourceId, parent, false);
}
TextView textViewName = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.tv_name);
TextView textViewCheckInDate = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.tv_checkindate);
TextView textViewPoints = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.tv_points);
ImageView imageViewIcon = (ImageView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.iv_icon);
CheckInRecord.CheckInRec checkInrec = checkInRec.get(position);
textViewName.setText(checkInrec.providerName);
textViewCheckInDate.setText(checkInrec.checkInDate);
textViewPoints.setText(checkInrec.providerPoints);
ImageLoader.getInstance().displayImage(checkInrec.providerIcon, imageViewIcon, Utility.displayImageOptions);
return convertView;
}
public int getIsPrize(int position) {return (this.checkInRec.get(position).isPrize);}
}
Data type
public class CheckInRecord {
public int userPoints;
public String userName;
public String gender;
public String birthDate;
public String location;
public String userIcon;
public List<CheckInRec> checkInRecList = new ArrayList<CheckInRec>();
public void addCheckInRec(String providerName, String providerLocation, String providerIcon,
String checkInDate, int providerPoints, int isPrize){
CheckInRec checkInRec = new CheckInRec();
checkInRec.providerName = providerName;
checkInRec.providerLocation = providerLocation;
checkInRec.providerIcon = providerIcon;
checkInRec.checkInDate = checkInDate;
checkInRec.providerPoints = providerPoints;
checkInRec.isPrize = isPrize;
checkInRecList.add(checkInRec);
}
public List<String> recImages(){
List<String> resultList = new ArrayList<String>();
if (this.checkInRecList == null){
return resultList;
}
for (CheckInRec rec : this.checkInRecList){
resultList.add(rec.providerIcon);
}
return resultList;
}
public class CheckInRec{
public String providerName;
public String providerLocation;
public String providerIcon;
public String checkInDate;
public int providerPoints;
public int isPrize;
}
}
Fragment
public class MeFragment extends Fragment implements ApiRequestDelegate {
private TextView textViewName;
private TextView textViewPoints;
private ProgressDialog progressDialog;
private RecordArrayAdapter recordArrayAdapter;
private List<CheckInRecord.CheckInRec> checkInRec = new ArrayList<CheckInRecord.CheckInRec>();
public MeFragment() {
}
#Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
AppDataManager.getInstance().setAllowCheckIn(true);
progressDialog = ProgressDialog.show(getActivity(), "", "");
ApiManager.getInstance().checkInHistories(AppDataManager.getInstance().getUserToken(), AppDataManager.getInstance().getUserPhone(),
Utility.getPictureSize(), this);
}
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container,
Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_me, container, false);
textViewName = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.tv_name);
textViewPoints = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.tv_points);
ListView listViewCheckInRec = (ListView) view.findViewById(R.id.lv_histories);
recordArrayAdapter = new RecordArrayAdapter(this.getActivity().getApplicationContext(), R.layout.row_record, checkInRec);
listViewCheckInRec.setAdapter(recordArrayAdapter);
return view;
}
#Override
public void setMenuVisibility(boolean menuVisible) {
super.setMenuVisibility(menuVisible);
if (menuVisible) {
refreshName();
}
}
public void refreshName() {
progressDialog = ProgressDialog.show(getActivity(), "", "");
AppDataManager dataManager = AppDataManager.getInstance();
ApiManager.getInstance().checkInHistories(dataManager.getUserToken(), dataManager.getUserPhone(), Utility.getPictureSize(), this);
}
#Override
public void apiCompleted(ApiResult apiResult, HttpRequest httpRequest) {
if (progressDialog!=null){
progressDialog.dismiss();
}
if (!apiResult.success){
ApiManager.handleMessageForReason(apiResult.failReason, getActivity());
return;
}
CheckInRecord checkInRecord = (CheckInRecord) apiResult.valueObject;
if (checkInRecord != null){
textViewName.setText(checkInRecord.userName);
textViewPoints.setText(String.format("积分%d分", checkInRecord.userPoints));
// this.checkInRec.clear();
// this.checkInRec.addAll(checkInRecord.checkInRecList);
//
// recordArrayAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged();
}
}
}
The problem is I cannot see my list in the app.
That is because checkInRec does now have any elements inside of it.
I can really tell that it is empty because you commented this out:
// this.checkInRec.clear(); //clear the old data from the list
// this.checkInRec.addAll(checkInRecord.checkInRecList); //add all the data inside the checkInRecord.checkInRecList
//
// recordArrayAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged(); //refreshing the ListView to display the new data
now what are those doing is that clearing the old list array and adding the new set of data from checkInRecord.checkInRecList and refreshing the ListView so those new data are implemented/shown in your ListView.

I need to display name, phoneNumber and accountNumber in EditText in the class ConsumerdescAndEdit, so how do pass these values when OnItemClickListener is executed?
ShowAll.java:
I have the ListView that inflated from CustomAdapter.
Intent intent = new Intent(ShowAll.this,ConsumerDescAndEdit.class);
startActivity(intent);
CustomAdapter.java:
public class CustomAdapter extends BaseAdapter {
Context mContext;
TextView nameView;
TextView phoneNumberView;
TextView accountView;
String name;
String phoneNumber;
String accountNumber;
ArrayList<Consumer> objects;
public CustomAdapter(Context context, int resource, ArrayList<Consumer> objects){
this.objects = objects;
this.mContext = context;
}
public CustomAdapter(){
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return objects.size();
}
#Override
public Object getItem(int position) {
return objects.get(position);
}
#Override
public long getItemId(int position) {
return 0;
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
Consumer consumer = (Consumer) getItem(position);
// Values to be displayed.
name = consumer.getName();
phoneNumber = consumer.getPhoneNumber();
accountNumber = consumer.getAccountNumber();
LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(mContext); // generate an inflater using context.
convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.details_layout,null); // inflate details_layout and store it in convertView.
nameView = convertView.findViewById(R.id.nameView);
phoneNumberView = convertView.findViewById(R.id.phoneNumberView);
accountView = convertView.findViewById(R.id.accountView);
nameView.setText(name);
phoneNumberView.setText(phoneNumber);
accountView.setText(accountNumber);
return convertView;
}
}
ConsumerDescAndEdit.java (where do I need to use variables):
public class ConsumerDescAndEdit extends AppCompatActivity {
Button updateButton;
EditText nameEditTextVar;
EditText phoneEditTextVar;
EditText accountEditTextVar;
// Variables to store user inputted data.
String nameEdit;
String phoneEdit;
String accountEdit;
DatabaseHelper dbHelper;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_consumer_desc_and_edit);
dbHelper = new DatabaseHelper(this);
updateButton = findViewById(R.id.updateButton);
nameEditTextVar = findViewById(R.id.nameEditScreen);
phoneEditTextVar = findViewById(R.id.phoneNumberEditScreen);
accountEditTextVar = findViewById(R.id.accountNumberEditScreen);
String s_intent = getIntent().getStringExtra("EXTRA_SESSION_ID");
nameEditTextVar.setText(s_intent);
updateButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
nameEdit = nameEditTextVar.getText().toString();
phoneEdit = phoneEditTextVar.getText().toString();
accountEdit = accountEditTextVar.getText().toString();
if (nameEdit.isEmpty() || phoneEdit.isEmpty() || accountEdit.isEmpty()) {
Toast.makeText(ConsumerDescAndEdit.this, "Data Insufficient", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
} else {
boolean b = dbHelper.updateData(nameEdit, phoneEdit, accountEdit);
if (b)
Toast.makeText(ConsumerDescAndEdit.this, "Data updated", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
else
Toast.makeText(ConsumerDescAndEdit.this, "Could not update data", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
}
});
}
}
When you create the Intent for the edit Activity, add the data from the selected item as "extras" to the Intent, like this:
Intent intent = new Intent(ShowAll.this,ConsumerDescAndEdit.class);
intent.putExtra("name", name);
intent.putExtra("phone", phone);
intent.putExtra("account", account);
startActivity(intent);
In the edit Activity, extract the data from the Intent like this:
String name = intent.getStringExtra("name");
String phone = intent.getStringExtra("phone");
String account = intent.getStringExtra("account");
Try below code
public class CustomAdapter extends BaseAdapter {
Context mContext;
TextView nameView;
TextView phoneNumberView;
TextView accountView;
String name;
String phoneNumber;
String accountNumber;
ArrayList<Consumer> objects;
private ItemClickListener itemClickListener;
public interface ItemClickListener {
void onItemClick(Consumer consumer);
}
public CustomAdapter(Context context, int resource, ArrayList<Consumer> objects, ItemClickListener itemClickListener) {
this.objects = objects;
this.mContext = context;
this.itemClickListener = itemClickListener;
}
public CustomAdapter() {
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return objects.size();
}
#Override
public Object getItem(int position) {
return objects.get(position);
}
#Override
public long getItemId(int position) {
return 0;
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
final Consumer consumer = (Consumer) getItem(position);
// Values to be displayed.
name = consumer.getName();
phoneNumber = consumer.getPhoneNumber();
accountNumber = consumer.getAccountNumber();
LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(mContext); // generate an inflater using context.
convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.details_layout, null); // inflate details_layout and store it in convertView.
nameView = convertView.findViewById(R.id.nameView);
phoneNumberView = convertView.findViewById(R.id.phoneNumberView);
accountView = convertView.findViewById(R.id.accountView);
nameView.setText(name);
phoneNumberView.setText(phoneNumber);
accountView.setText(accountNumber);
convertView.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
if (itemClickListener != null) {
itemClickListener.onItemClick(consumer);
}
}
});
return convertView;
}
}
In Activity do following
public class ConsumerActivity extends AppCompatActivity implements CustomAdapter.ItemClickListener {
CustomAdapter adapter;
ArrayList<Consumer> objects;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_consumer);
adapter = new CustomAdapter(this, objects, this);
}
#Override
public void onItemClick(Consumer consumer) {
Intent intent = new Intent(this, CustomerEdit.class);
intent.putExtra("Consumer", consumer);
startActivity(intent);
}
}
public class MediaAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<SocialMedia> {
private Context context;
private int resource;
public MediaAdapter(Context context, int resource, ArrayList<SocialMedia> objects){
super(context,resource,objects);
this.resource = resource;
this.context = context;
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
if(convertView == null){
LayoutInflater inflater = ((Activity)context).getLayoutInflater();
convertView = inflater.inflate(resource, parent, false);
}
TextView txtVMediaName = convertView.findViewById(R.id.txtV_Media_Name);
TextView txtVUserName = convertView.findViewById(txtV_User_Name);
CheckBox test = R.id.chk_Display_Info;
txtVUserName.setVisibility(test.isChecked()?1:0);
SocialMedia socMedia = getItem(position);
txtVMediaName.setText(socMedia.getName());
txtVUserName.setText(socMedia.getUserId());
return (convertView);
}
}
The Above is my ArrayAdapter, and Below is my MainActivity
public class MainActivity extends Activity {
private CheckBox chkDisInfo;
private ListView lstVSocMedDis;
private class onClickDisplayInfo implements CompoundButton.OnCheckedChangeListener{
#Override
public void onCheckedChanged(CompoundButton compoundButton, boolean b) {
DetermineDisplay(b);
}
}
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
chkDisInfo = findViewById(R.id.chk_Display_Info);
chkDisInfo.setChecked(true);
lstVSocMedDis = findViewById(R.id.lstv_DisplaySoc);
loadData();
chkDisInfo.setOnCheckedChangeListener(new onClickDisplayInfo());
}
private void loadData() {
ArrayList<SocialMedia> calledSocMedia = SocialMedia.getMedia();
MediaAdapter adapterM = new MediaAdapter(this, R.layout.list_media_info, calledSocMedia);
lstVSocMedDis.setAdapter(adapterM);
}
private void DetermineDisplay(boolean b) {
}
Here is now my SocialMedia Class, which is called 4 times
public class SocialMedia {
//Field Variables
private String name;
private String userId;
private int numContacts;
//Constructor 3 PARAM - Name(String) - UserID(String) - Number of Contact(int)
public SocialMedia(String name, String userId, int numContacts){
this.name = name;
this.userId = userId;
this.numContacts = numContacts;
}
//Setter/Getters
//Getter(String) - Void - Name
public String getName(){
return this.name;
}
//Setter(Void) - String - Name
public void setName(String newName){
this.name = newName;
}
//Getter(String) - Void - UserID
public String getUserId(){
return this.userId;
}
//Setter(Void) - String - Name
public void setUserId(String newUserId){
this.userId = newUserId;
}
//Getter(int) - Void - NumContacts
public int getNumContacts(){
return this.numContacts;
}
//Setter(Void) - int - NumContacts
public void setNumContacts(int newNumContacts){
this.numContacts = newNumContacts;
}
//Return Type -
#Override
public String toString(){
return String.format("%s, %s, %d", this.name,this.userId,this.getNumContacts());
}
public static ArrayList<SocialMedia> getMedia() {
ArrayList<SocialMedia> socMedia = new ArrayList<>();
socMedia.add(new SocialMedia("LinkedIn","Batman",100));
socMedia.add(new SocialMedia("Facebook","Not Bruce Wayne", 100));
socMedia.add(new SocialMedia("Twitter","Batz_Rulez", 100));
socMedia.add(new SocialMedia("Instagram","Gotham_Nights", 100));
return socMedia;
}
}
Within DetermineDisplay I want to access txtVUserName and set the visibility to INVISIBLE and collapse its size. So that when the user selects the checkbox, all my listview items I only display the SocialMedia Type. I wish to do this dynamically and access all the values in one call rather than a for loop, but if my thinking is incorrect and a for loop iterating through the ListView items and accessing each value is the preferred method. This is just a small feature, but it is required.
Try this:
Your MainActivity Code:
public class MainActivity extends Activity {
public CheckBox chkDisInfo;
private ListView lstVSocMedDis;
MediaAdapter adapterM
private class onClickDisplayInfo implements CompoundButton.OnCheckedChangeListener{
#Override
public void onCheckedChanged(CompoundButton compoundButton, boolean b) {
DetermineDisplay(b);
}
}
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
chkDisInfo = findViewById(R.id.chk_Display_Info);
chkDisInfo.setChecked(true);
lstVSocMedDis = findViewById(R.id.lstv_DisplaySoc);
loadData();
chkDisInfo.setOnCheckedChangeListener(new onClickDisplayInfo());
}
private void loadData() {
ArrayList<SocialMedia> calledSocMedia = SocialMedia.getMedia();
adapterM = new MediaAdapter(this, R.layout.list_media_info, calledSocMedia);
lstVSocMedDis.setAdapter(adapterM);
}
private void DetermineDisplay(boolean b) {
adapterM.notifyDataSetChanged();
}
Your adapter class code:
public class MediaAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<SocialMedia> {
private Context context;
private int resource;
public MediaAdapter(Context context, int resource, ArrayList<SocialMedia> objects){
super(context,resource,objects);
this.resource = resource;
this.context = context;
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
if(convertView == null){
LayoutInflater inflater = ((Activity)context).getLayoutInflater();
convertView = inflater.inflate(resource, parent, false);
}
TextView txtVMediaName = convertView.findViewById(R.id.txtV_Media_Name);
TextView txtVUserName = convertView.findViewById(txtV_User_Name);
//CheckBox test = R.id.chk_Display_Info;
if(((MainActivity)context).chkDisInfo.isChecked()){
txtVUserName.setVisibility(View.GONE);
}
else{
txtVUserName.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
}
SocialMedia socMedia = getItem(position);
txtVMediaName.setText(socMedia.getName());
txtVUserName.setText(socMedia.getUserId());
return (convertView);
}
}
Am trying to update my listview on every selection of the spinner. but its not working. Instead of getting new data, listview is repeating the same values.
I am unable to find out what is my mistake.
here is my avtivity code:
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
if (android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT > 9) {
StrictMode.ThreadPolicy policy = new StrictMode.ThreadPolicy.Builder().permitAll().build();
StrictMode.setThreadPolicy(policy);
}
setContentView(R.layout.activity_performance_details);
PerfList = new ArrayList<PerformanceListItem>();
months = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.load_month);
listview_performance = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.performance_details_list);
sadapter = new PerformanceAdapter(PerformanceDetails.this, PerfList);
months.setOnItemSelectedListener(this);
#Override
public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) {
Spinner a=(Spinner)parent;
if(a.getId() == R.id.load_month) {
monthid =1+(int)months.getSelectedItemPosition();
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),""+monthid,Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
new setAsyncTask_performance().execute();
}
}
after selecting spinner data it is sent to server and from server its relevant data is fetched and sent back to the list view. now when i first time select the spinner it show the data accordingly. But on second selection it will include the previous data without updating the listview
Adapter Code:
public class PerformanceAdapter extends BaseAdapter {
private Activity activity;
private LayoutInflater inflater;
private Context context;
private List<PerformanceListItem> performanceList;
public PerformanceAdapter(Activity activity, List<PerformanceListItem> PList) {
this.activity = activity;
this.performanceList = PList;
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return performanceList.size();
}
#Override
public Object getItem(int position) {
return performanceList.get(position);
}
#Override
public long getItemId(int position) {
return position;
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
if (inflater == null) {
inflater = (LayoutInflater) activity.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
}
if (convertView == null) {
convertView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.performance_itemlist, null);
}
Animation slideUp = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(activity, R.anim.slide_up);
TextView staffName = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.perf_staffName);
TextView staffDesignation = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.perf_Design);
TextView staffPerformance = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.perf_performance);
PerformanceListItem plist = performanceList.get(position);
staffName.setText(plist.getpStaffName());
staffDesignation.setText(plist.getpDesignation());
staffPerformance.setText(plist.getpPerformance());
slideUp.setDuration(500);
convertView.startAnimation(slideUp);
slideUp = null;
return convertView;
}
}
and this is my performance list to get and set data
PerformanceListItems code:
public class PerformanceListItem {
private String pSid;
private String pStaffName;
private String pDesignation;
private String pPerformance;
private String pList;
public PerformanceListItem(){
}
public PerformanceListItem(String pList){
this.pList = pList;
}
public String getpSid(){
return pSid;
}
public void setpSid(String pSid){
this.pSid = pSid;
}
public String getpStaffName(){
return pStaffName;
}
public void setpStaffName(String pStaffName){
this.pStaffName = pStaffName;
}
public String getpDesignation(){
return pDesignation;
}
public void setpDesignation(String pDesignation){
this.pDesignation = pDesignation;
}
public String getpPerformance(){
return pPerformance;
}
public void setpPerformance(String pPerformance){
this.pPerformance = pPerformance;
}
}
After debugging the entire code i found that my JSONObject is not updating with new value
any help would be appreciable.
Update the data of your adapter when you execute this
new setAsyncTask_performance().execute();
If you want to show only the new data just remove all your listview items then update the data and set the adapter again.
dont set adapter in oncreate. Set your adapter in Asynctask Post execute. and set your array inside doinbackground along with getting data task.
May be this question many times.
i am getting some data from server and showing in listview . every thing working fine but i am getting problem to show image in list view.
Here is my example code

i can show book name and book detail in listview finely but image is not showing ..
i am getting value for book_image is http:\/\/X.X.X.X\/admin\/book_images\/232513pic9.png how to show in listview from that path..
I think you will need to implement your own adapter and use some library to display the image from URL.
My recommendation is Picasso
This is an example to implement your own adapter
BookListAdapter.java
public class BookListAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<BookModel> {
private ArrayList<BookModel> bookModels;
private Context context;
public BookListAdapter(Context context, int resource, ArrayList<BookModel> bookModels) {
super(context, resource, bookModels);
this.bookModels = bookModels;
this.context = context;
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
View rowView = convertView;
ViewHolder viewHolder;
if (rowView == null) {
LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) context
.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
rowView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.book_child_list, parent, false);
ViewHolder viewHolder = new ViewHolder();
viewHolder.bookIcon = (ImageView) rowView
.findViewById(R.id.bookIcon);
viewHolder.bookName = (TextView) rowView
.findViewById(R.id.bookName);
viewHolder.bookDetail = (TextView) rowView
.findViewById(R.id.bookDetail);
rowView.setTag(viewHolder);
} else {
viewHolder = (ViewHolder) rowView.getTag();
}
final BookModel bookModel = bookModels.get(position);
Picasso.with(context).load(bookModel.getBookImageUrl()).into(viewHolder.bookIcon);
viewHolder.bookName.setText(bookModel.getBookName());
viewHolder.bookDetail.setText(bookModel.getBookDetail());
return rowView;
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return bookModels.size();
}
static class ViewHolder {
public ImageView bookIcon;
public TextView bookName;
public TextView bookDetail;
}
}
BookModel.java
public class BookModel {
private String bookName;
private String bookDetail;
private String bookImageUrl;
public BookModel() {
bookName = "";
bookDetail = "";
bookImageUrl = "";
}
public String getBookName() {
return bookName;
}
public void setBookName(String bookName) {
this.bookName = bookName;
}
public String getBookDetail() {
return bookDetail;
}
public void setBookDetail(String bookDetail) {
this.bookDetail = bookDetail;
}
public String getBookImageUrl() {
return bookImageUrl;
}
public void setBookImageUrl(String bookImageUrl) {
this.icons = bookImageUrl;
}
}
Where BookModel class is a class where you can wrap your data (book name, book detail, book image) and pass it as a list to the adapter.
for example :
protected Boolean doInBackground(final String... args) {
url = url + "?custom_iid=" + cus_id;
Log.d("Passing Url", url);
CustomListAdapter jParser = new CustomListAdapter();
JSONArray json = jParser.getJSONFromUrl(url);
ArrayList<BookModel> bookModelList = new ArrayList<BookModel>();
if (json != null) {
for (int i = 0; i < json.length(); i++) {
try {
BookModel bookModel = new BookModel();
JSONObject c = json.getJSONObject(i);
String b_image = c.getString("b_image");
String b_name = c.getString("b_name");
String b_detail = c.getString("b_publisher");
Log.d("detail", "" + b_image);
bookModel.setBookName(b_name);
bookModel.setBookDetail(b_detail);
bookModel.setBookImageUrl(b_image);
bookModelList.add(bookModel);
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
}
if(bookModelList.size()>0) {
BookListAdapter bookListAdapter = new BookListAdapter(MainActivity.this, R.id.yourlistview, bookModelList );
}
return null;
}
I hope my answer can help you!
lv.setAdapter(adapter);
use AQuery lib.
and just write this code in your custom adapter:
AQuery aQuery = new AQuery(context);
aQuery.id(your image id).image(your url,true,true);
I am trying to Create a Array Adapter to set content from an Array of text to the adapter but i am not able to set the adapter from the Activity. Am not sure what i should pass for the resource as Int
PlacesListAdapter.java
public class PlacesListAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<Place> {
public Context context;
private List<Place> places;
public PlacesListAdapter(Context context, int textViewResourceId) {
super(context, textViewResourceId);
}
public PlacesListAdapter(Context context, int resource, List<Place> places) {
super(context, resource, places);
this.context = context;
this.places = places;
// imageLoader = new ImageLoader(context.getApplicationContext());
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
ViewHolder holder;
View view = convertView;
Place p = places.get(position);
if (convertView == null) {
LayoutInflater viewInflater;
viewInflater = LayoutInflater.from(getContext());
view = viewInflater.inflate(R.layout.item_place, null);
holder = new ViewHolder();
holder.placeTitle = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.place_title);
holder.placeDistance = (TextView) view
.findViewById(R.id.place_distance);
view.setTag(holder);
} else {
holder = (ViewHolder) convertView.getTag();
}
holder.placeTitle.setText(p.getPlaceTitle());
holder.placeDistance.setText("200");
holder.placeCategoryIcon.setImageResource(R.drawable.marker);
return view;
}
static class ViewHolder {
TextView placeId;
TextView placeTitle;
TextView placeDistance;
ImageView placeCategoryIcon;
}
}
Place.java
public class Place {
String placeId = "", placeTitle = "", placeDistance = "",
placeCategoryIcon = "";
public Place(String placeId, String placeTitle, String placeDistance,
String placeCategoryIcon) {
this.placeId = placeId;
this.placeTitle = placeTitle;
this.placeDistance = placeDistance;
this.placeCategoryIcon = placeCategoryIcon;
}
public String getPlaceId() {
return placeId;
}
public void setPlaceId(String placeId) {
this.placeId = placeId;
}
public String getPlaceTitle() {
return placeTitle;
}
public void setPlaceTitle(String placeTitle) {
this.placeTitle = placeTitle;
}
public String getPlaceDistance() {
return placeDistance;
}
public void setPlaceDistance(String placeDistance) {
this.placeDistance = placeDistance;
}
public String getPlaceCategoryIcon() {
return placeCategoryIcon;
}
public void setPlaceCategoryIcon(String placeCategoryIcon) {
this.placeCategoryIcon = placeCategoryIcon;
}
}
Now in MainActiivty i am trying to set the adapter so that it populates the list from the Array
public class MainActivity extends SherlockFragmentActivity implements
SearchView.OnQueryTextListener {
private final String[] places = new String[] { "Mysore", "Bangalore", "Mangalore",
"Wayanad", "Bandipur National Park", "Chickmaglur",
"Bandipura", "Coorg", "Kodaikanal", "Hampi",
"Ghati Subramanya", "Mekedatu", "Muththathhi", "Shivasamudram",
"Talakadu", "Savana Durga" };
public SearchView mSearchView;
private TextView mStatusView;
private Menu mainMenu = null;
PlacesListAdapter adapter;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
Log.i("Nomad", "onCreate");
ListView listView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.place_list);
adapter = new PlacesListAdapter(this, resource, places);
}
}
I am not sure what to set for resources in adapter = new PlacesListAdapter(this, resource, places);
Initialize the resource variable:
// it doesn't matter what values you assing to the resource variable because you build
// the row layout yourself in the getView method of the adapter
int resource = android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1;
adapter = new PlacesListAdapter(this, resource, places);
Edit:
List<Place> thePlaces = new ArrayList<Place>();
for (int i = 0; i < places.length; i++) {
Place pl = new Place("NO_ID", places[i], "NO_DISTANCE", "NO_CATEGORYICON");
thePlaces.add(pl);
}
int resource = android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1;
adapter = new PlacesListAdapter(this, resource, thePlaces);
pass row layout id instead of default android layout if your are creating custom adapter by extending ArrayAdapter:
adapter = new PlacesListAdapter(this,R.layout.item_place, places);
instead of
adapter = new PlacesListAdapter(this, resource, places);
