Android. Font size too large to fit in cache - android

I want to adjust app font size to device size. I have values, values-hdpi, values-ldpi.. folders and added there dimens.xml file and set dimens like this <dimen name="task_check_box_font">16sp</dimen>.
But then I get
font size to large to fit in cache error.
How to solve it? Thanks

android detect device width

is there a way to detect device width so that we can add views programmatically based on device screen width. For example, single or dual pane.
Right now, the way for adpative UI is using layout XML for different device size. This is not flexible enough in our case.

The preferred way for us is: layout.xml defines the root empty container only, and add views programmatically based on device size that is detected at runtime.

Get screen resolution of device

I used following method to get the screen size:
public static Point getScreenSize(Context context)

int h = wm.getDefaultDisplay().getHeight();

On my samsung galaxy s6, this method returns 1080x1920... Although my device has a resolution of 1440x2560.
Why? Is there a better method to get the screen resolution that works on newer phones reliable as well?

I need this method in a service! I don't have a view/activity for help, only the application context! And I need the REAL pixels
The best way to get your screen resolution is from DisplayMetrics :
DisplayMetrics displayMetrics = new DisplayMetrics();

If you are targeting for API >= 17, try with the getRealSize method of the Display class:

Note that this code uses deprecated APIs.

Getting screen size and use in drawbit map

This is not my activity! this is separate class file
i am using Surface view extended to my class file . i wanted to display a small bit map to my canvas my bit map is very small than my phone screen so i used a createscaledbitmap to fit it in my phone screen with this code here
Bitmap o2 = Bitmap.createScaledBitmap( hud, 800, 490, false);
it worked great in my phone but when i tested in a bigger phone i have my bitmap pasted only 3/4 of the screen .. so i want to make my bitmap to fix the phone screen size

is there a function to get the phone display size and use in my code ?

Is it safe to use .getWidth on Display even though its deprecated

So i have a small problem, i'm writing a function which need to send screen width to server. I got it all to work, and i use:
Display display = getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay();
int width = display.getWidth();
to get width. However .getWidht() function is deprecated and it says u need to use:
Point size = new Point();
display.getSize(size);
But that function is only avaible for api level 13 or more, and my minimum sdk is 8. So what can i do? Is it safe if i stay with getWidth? Why adding new function and not make them backward compatible?

Android: Get the screen resolution / pixels as integer values

this is a really simple question on which I've found no answer :/
How can I quickly access the screen resolution (width, height) as integer values?
I've tried this one, but it always shows zero on my emulator:
DisplayMetrics dm = new DisplayMetrics();
int width = dm.widthPixels / 2;
In my case I want to dynamically create a table with tableRows, each containing two cols. This cols all shall fill half of the screen in width.
Can someone give me a hint?

However, the results will be specific to the activity context. If you want the whole device screen resolution:
DisplayMetrics displayMetrics = new DisplayMetrics();
WindowManager wm = (WindowManager) getApplicationContext().getSystemService(Context.WINDOW_SERVICE); // the results will be higher than using the activity context object or the getWindowManager() shortcut
wm.getDefaultDisplay().getMetrics(displayMetrics);

No muss, no fuss, just 2 class variables
The easiest way will be to implement onSizeChanged. You are probably getting a value of 0 because the view hasn't initialized yet. You can't call the above code in the View constructor for example.
