Android - Aligning views to the ends of a layout - android

Sorry if my question sounds simple but I'm working on a simple layout for my list item and my intention align to textviews one on each end of the layout. My attempts are as below but the texviews are right next to each other. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Firstly, you need to remove the two properties of alignRight and toRightOf from the second linear layout:

Which will result in the second textview on right side.
And I would advise that you don't take two linear layout as both of them contain just a single textview:

The solution provided by Hariharan is excellent. Another option might be more useful if you need the textViews' width to actually be wrap_content (for instance if they have a background styling, etc.) You can achieve a more accurate behavior using a space:

Align checkbox right most side in a listview

I want to allign the checkboxes in a list view to right most part of the screen.

But When i run this i get the output as checkboxes right next to the textview
Found mistake.. its in mainactivity.. i have put the the width of listview as wrap content instead of fill parent

Use RelativeLayout for ChechBox Section and Add android:layout_alignParentRight="true" .Try this way ,Let me inform .
Okay,You can set 2 Textview and ChechBox on same row using layout weight (Linear Layout). And set gravity,layout gravity right for ChechBox.

Android layouts I can't position three items correctly in the same line

so I have a problem position three items in the same line for my android app. At first let me show you a screenshot of what I have:
My problem here is that I'd like the two image button to be to the far left and far right of the line and for the Large Text to stay in Center.
I have tried Relative Layout without success, I also tried android:gravity for each item but it doesn't work either.

You have given android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" to the below text.so it will set itself to the bottom of the layout.Either remove this and give marginTop to the this text or give marginTop to the above text.Here is only problem,look at it.

Add two textviews end to end in android xml

I want to add a textview right at the end of another textview, ie not in next line, but where previous textview ends, in xml file. Just like:

This is because you have provided android:ellipsize="none" as none and giving a very long text to textView.
just provide android:ellipsize="end" and you will be able to see second textView.

Use a RelativeLayout and have your "aaaa..." text view align to the left of the "bbb" textview. You can either remove maxLines or set it to some other value if you want multiple lines.

it's simple use one textView and inside your cod use append method and add some space before your second text :)

android:gravity="right|center_vertical"
aligns your TextView to the right. How about center_horizontal?
And your LinearLayouts have the same ID, if there is not more code, then I would delete one of them.

I found none of the answers work exactly as the OP intended, but the RelativeLayout solution was the closest one. Except that the TextView wasn't centered. But, with layout_centerInParent=true, works like a charm:

I think,gravity means the position of things inside the component(for textview,it means the text you have given)in component where layout_gravity means position of component itself in the whole layout.So...

The solution for this is-
android:gravity="center_vertical"
Normally you'll also have to take care of its parent's position too to make sure it works.
