I have made an android application where in I first login and then show a main activity which has a navigation drawer. The navigation drawer has Home and Profile. The home shows a countdown timer while the profile retrieves the information from database and shows it.
The first time main.class comes it goes to Home and shows the countdown. Then I move to profile. The profile page shows correctly.
Now here it becomes difficult to understand for me. then i go to home (it shows correctly) then profile and then home (there is an error now)
I am not able to figure out why is there an error. Kindly help. I am new to android programming.
MenuFragment.java is the one that shows the countdown.
The error is in line

I believe you've got a race condition here.
The fragment has probably been detached from its parent Activity. You'll need to cancel the timer when you are done with it. Probably in onDestroyView.
Make a private member variable to hold onto your timer. Use that when you initialize it in your onCreateView method. Then, make use of it in your overridden onDestroyView method like so:

In addition, you might want to guard against your fragment not being attached to an Activity in your onTick method by checking for getActivity() == null and returning early in that case.

I'm using NavigationDrawer as the main activity, but when I go to another fragment I want to modify the menu, putting an arrow to back to the home and hide the search icon of the navbar, so I'm having two problems here, I can hide the search icon when I change the fragment, but when I'm back to the navigationMain it should be visible again, which is not happening, and if I am in another fragment the navigation bar must be removed and an arrow back must appear so I can get back to home, this is what I've tried so far:

i used this method :
i inflate the menu for the actionbar with all the items already in.
then in the Activity onCreateOptionsMenu() i check wich fragment is displayed and i set the visibility of the items accordingly.
then in the onSectionAttached method i call invalidateOptionsMenu(); that will reload the onCreateOptionsMenu so i can have different menu items on each fragment selected
for checking i use boolean flags and if the flag is true it means that the fragment is n view, like:
viewing the first fragment:

viewing the second fragment:

yes you can do that in onOptionsItemSelected event.
onOptionsItemSelected has a paremeter of type MenuItem . you can see the paremeter here onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item).
Just pick item.getTitle and do what you want according to the selected item
Replace OtherActivity.class and anotherActivity.class with your actual activity class names and you are done.

You're using the wrong Intent constructor. Change it to something like:

Note, if the current and target class are in the same package, you don't need the package name, so:
