Not receiving CountDownTimer callbacks in Service - android

I have a Bound service which collects locations for 3 minutes every 15 minutes. I start a CountDownTimer once the Service is connected in onServiceConnected of ServiceConnection.
I receive all the Timer callbacks (onFinish) (onTick) perfectly as far the Activity which bindService is visible.
When Device is locked I do not receive any updates from the timer.

It works as expected when the Activity is visible. The timer doesn't provide any onTick() or onTimeFinished() callbacks when the device is locked.
What could be the problem here ?

The CountDownTimer will not work when the phone goes to sleep mode. This is by design and it's to save battery life.
Alternately you can use android.app.AlarmManager instead to achieve your goal. Following is the sample code how to do that. Set the alaram like below

Service is not working android marshmallow devices when app is kill start at android?

Here I attached my code,I created a service which runs both cases while my app is in background and killed state. It is not running on android marshmallow devices, but it works on other devices. When I check other devices, Log will be executed when the app is kill state, only version 6 , not executed.

Android: How to detect a background service when app restarted?

I have an app that creates a never ending background service. The service is started when the app is launched. When the app is killed (e.g. by the user), the service sends a broadcast request that will restart it after it is killed.
The question is: when I restart the app, how can I know if the service is already running?
Naively I had thought that by restarting the service when the app is re-launched it would have stopped the existing service but this does not happen. The following code shows that if I do this, there are two services running at the same time (the printout in the timer moves from every second to every half a second).

CountDownTimer inside Service stopped after application killed - Android

I'm new to services and BroadcastReceiver so maybe this question is newbie, but I didn't found the solution for my question after a long search on the web.
I need to run a CountDownTimer inside service, so the time keep moving even the application was finished.
In my code I based on THIS EXAMPLE.
My code works fine, but after the application is finished the CountDownTimer stopped(The service doesn't destroyed, just the timer).
I tried to implement it in different ways, but nothing works for me.

Close the service when remove the app via swipe in android

I want to close the service when user removes the app from current running app list. Here, what I'm doing, when user starts the app, service gets started and remain in progress. But when user removes the app via swipe, new service is being created. I want to close the service. Below is my code.

According with google's employee Dianne Hackborn explains in a comment on one of her Google+ posts, you have to implemente the onTaskremoved on your service.
[W]hat specifically happens when you swipe away a recent task is it:
(1) kills any background or empty processes of the application (see
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/fundamentals/processes-and-threads.html#Lifecycle
for what this means), and (2) uses the new
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/Service.html#onTaskRemoved(android.content.Intent)
API to tell any services of the application about the task being
removed so it can do whatever it thinks is appropriate.
So I think you can do it this way: In that callback you have to stop the service, and tell the alarm manager to stop starting it again. For that, first of all, you need to pass to the service the pending intent that you use with the AlarmManger, so the service can use the intent to cancel the schedule.

android run service in background from time to time when the application is running

I am building an android app and when it is running I need to make a call to the my web server at each minute if the user is connected to a certain network.
I plan to use a service to make that call but how do I call it at each minute?.
I think i need to use alaarm manager but where do I initalize it? in my start activity? I only need to execute the service when my app is running.

If you want to call server only if app is running then no need to use alarm manager. there are other options like

In onPost method in AsynTask class wait for one minute and call AsynTask.
You can call AsynTask by using below code :
