Stuttering When Opening New Fragment from Navigation Drawer - android

My app uses a navigation drawer and loads a new fragment into my activity when a row is selected from the drawer. It works ok but there is substantial lag and stuttering on the drawer closing animation. What can I do to eliminate the lag?

Your fragment is likely doing a lot of work in onCreate().
But, in general, you should use delayed runnable with a ~250ms holdoff before launching the fragment, to allow the drawer time to close.
// launch the target Activity after a short delay, to allow the close animation to play
mHandler.postDelayed(new Runnable() {
#Override
public void run() {
goToNavDrawerItem(itemId);
}
}, NAVDRAWER_LAUNCH_DELAY);
mDrawerLayout.closeDrawer(Gravity.START);
You can find the example in more detail in the Google IO app code on Github:
Google IO 2014 code

You could just perform the action in the onDrawerClosed() callback of the ActionBarDrawerToggle that you've attached as the DrawerListener for your NavigationDrawer.
Then you won't have to hardcode a delay in your app. After all there's no guarantee that the animation time for the drawer close animation will remain constant.

Please check out my own solution described here:
https://stackoverflow.com/a/29133407/928956
In my own solution i take advantage from
mDrawerLayout.setDrawerListener()
method.

How to set action bar title center in navigation drawer?

I am using navigation drawer from this tutorial http://www.androidhive.info/2013/11/android-sliding-menu-using-navigation-drawer/
everything is working fine,but the issue is my title is aligned left side,but i want title of action bar at center,and if i make it custom then i need to make it for all my fragments,so that is what i dont want to implement by using xml,is there any idea about to center title in action bar

Android app crash in 512mb ram mobile

Hi I created one android application and I uploaded that in a play store, in that app I used navigation drawer to navigate from one activity to another.
My app is working fine in maximum no of mobiles which has 1 GB RAM and the latest OS like KitKat or Lollipop, but in 512 MB RAM mobile and in the Ice_Cream_Sandwich version the app is closing after the start up, saying "Unfortunately the app has stopped". This problem is arising in only few mobiles (I am saying this based upon the user comments in play store).
And my minimum and maximum SDK version is
<uses-sdk
android:minSdkVersion="14"
android:targetSdkVersion="19" />
And I didn't add the appcompat v7 as the library, If I add this all my Java class files are showing error.
Now what I need is, I need to know why the crash is happening and how to fix this.
I already made a search in SO but I couldn't able to find the proper solution which I need.
And the crash report I got in play store is
java.lang.NullPointerException

I believe that the solution for your problem is this:
Just add this line to the application in your manifest file:
android:largeHeap="true"
So your Manifest file should application should look like this:
<application
android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name"
android:largeHeap="true"
android:theme="#android:style/Theme.Light.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen" >
<activity
android:name=".MainActivity"
android:label="#string/app_name"
android:theme="#android:style/Theme.Light.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
</application>

You may use: (to open drawer on left)
DrawerLayout.openDrawer(Gravity.LEFT);
Add next sniplet atter initialisation of drawer
for opening drawer:
if (mDrawerLayout.isDrawerOpen(Gravity.LEFT))
mDrawerLayout.openDrawer(Gravity.LEFT) //for left drawer
for closing drawer:
if (!mDrawerLayout.isDrawerOpen(Gravity.LEFT))
mDrawerLayout.closeDrawer(Gravity.LEFT) //for left drawer
