I have Genymotion 2.3.1 and VirtualBox 4.3.20 installed on Windows 8.1. Other Genymotion devices I have configured (4.2, 4.4) are fine but the Lollipop one will not start.
When I attempt to start it directly from VirtualBox, I get the following errors:
can not find system/bin/install-recovery.sh disabling flash recovery
could not open /sys/class/power_supply/genymotion_fake_path/present
I changed SDK (Android tools directory) manually, but this did not help.
I activated Intel virtualization technology in my bios settings and just update my Genymotion and VirtualBox to Genymotion All in one version.
after a long time wait after genymotion's android Logo, finally The problem solved!
Lollipop not starting from VirtualBox but in genymotion everything is now working fine!
on linux
I have just solved the problem by removing libdrm.so.2 from Genymotion installation dir and rebooting my computer.
If that does not work, you can try to disable GPU open drivers and enable proprietary drivers in System Settings > Software & Updates > Additional Drivers.
Hope this help!
This can also be due to outdated VirtualBox version. Download and install the latest version of VirtualBox.

I have a very weird and incomprehensible issue with my android studio. I used to work with Android studio on my windows computer just fine, studio, AVD all were working just fine. A few days ago I had to install kali on a virtual machine on my that windows computer. Since then my android studio started weird behave. When I wanted to run AVD an error comes and say
Enable VT-x in your BIOS security settings, ensure that your Linux
distro has working KVM module.
but this is a windows 10 machine. After installing (again) HAXM error is gone however still I cannot open my AVD or in SDK manager I cannot click on Tools or any other option. I reinstalled Studio at least 10 times, but problems insist.
My computer runs on intel core i-7 with 16 GB memory as well as Intel HD 520 and NVIDIA Geforce 940M with 2 GB memory.
I tried all the options I can find in the internet nothing solved anything.
Thanks in advance.
Make sure, You've enabled VT-x in your BIOS configuration of your PC.
If it's not then follow
Restart system
Keep pressing esc key while starting to enter the recovery mode
Choose BIOS Option
Search for the VT-x or Virtual Technology, It'll be in security or Advance tab based on the system config
enable that.
Then try AVD in android studio. In my case it resolved my problem.
According to my AS SDK manager, Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator (HAXM Installer) version 6.0.1 is installed.
However, if I attempt to 'run' my app, then choose an 'available emulator' (eg, nexus one api 23), I get the error: intel haxm is required to run this avd.
A couple of days ago I was not having this problem (I was able to use an emulator).
Also, according to my System Settings/Android SDK, I have Android 6.0, API Level 23.
I am using Win XP, with AS2.0.
You have to install it.
Go to your sdk manager and then select it to install it (look at the bottom). Then you have to go to the folder in which the android studio is installed then look for extras/intel and then install it.
There can be a couple of problems when this happens. You have to run your BIOS to activate virtualization technology (look how to go to the BIOS), and deactivate your antivirus while its installing. (Also you should deactivate the option about virtualization technology).
When the HAXM its done, open your android studio and try to run your application, it's gonna work this time!
(I had the same problem few days ago).
I ever see Avast! doing wrong with Intel HAXM (did you just installed it ?) on a friend's laptop.
What i would suggest is simply to unistall/reinstall it in "Settings/System Setting/Android SDK".
Personnally at the HAXM "installation" from AndroidStudio it was downloaded only. I managed by going to "C:\Android\sdk\extras\intel\Hardware_Accelerated_Execution_Manager" (or the corresponding path onto your computer) in order to run the installer manually.
The reason is because you have installed Avast. You have to uncheck this option: Enable hardware -assisted virtualization
I am using Dell Inspiron 5521R system to install android development studio. I am getting an error "VT-x is not enabled" while during haxm installation. I checked in bios, there is VT-X option is not showing. Only virtualization option is there and it is enabled already. I also checked Hyper-V option in control panel and this one is also unchecked. but the problem is same as earlier.
I'm assuming you want this for the Android emulator to work properly.
Not really a solution as I tried a many things myself, but an alternative to the Android emulator is Genymotion. It worked for me where I never got Hyper-V to work.
I suggest Genymotion, it is faster, smoother than default Android Studio Emulators
Install Genymotion
Install Genymotion Plugin For Android Studio
Run Genymotion & click Red Button in the Android Studio (Which will appear after you install Genymotion Plugin for Android Studio)
Enjoy Developing
Android Studio told me to install HAXM, so I downloaded it and when I went to install, it said This computer does not support Intel Virtualization Technology. After some search, I found that if you uncheck Hyper-V in control panel, all will be well. The problem I'm facing is, it isn't even checked. Is there any other way to fix this issue or does my computer just really not support VT-X?
This will fix your issue Develop apps using x86 Android* 4.4 (KitKat) emulator on Intel Developer Zone see the section
4. Download and install Intel HAXM
you will find other emulators intalation also
Make sure Virtualization is enabled in BIOS (advanced Firmware for
windows 10)
and install manually from
https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/intel-hardware-accelerated-execution-manager/
after running installation batch file, silent_install.bat of downloaded zip file.
tns run android -->Should open up the simulator!
I was able to download latest version of haxm from github url https://github.com/intel/haxm/releases
click on the respective release number to get the download option.
For AMD processor see this link.
Run Android studio emulator on AMD processor
I updated my machine to OS X Mavericks and I wanted to run a Kindle Fire Emulator but it doesn't run at all.
I ran the Amazon AVD Launcher for OS X and it worked fine. I created an emulator and started it and my machine freezes.
I also tried to install Windows 7 using Parallels Desktop 9 and downloaded the Amazon AVD Launcher for Windows and I ran it. My machine didn't freeze but it also didn't run the emulator.
Is there any way to resolve this issue? Thanks!
Do you know if you have the latest Intel HAXM drivers installed? That step usually gets missed by folks. =) I did a walkthrough on our Amazon Developer Blog you may find helpful here: http://developer.amazon.com/post/TxHLJ1TU9TX9N6/Harness-the-Speed-and-Power-of-the-New-Kindle-Fire-HD-Emulators-with-Amazon-AVD.html
There is also a known issue with Mavericks and the HAXM driver that requires a hotfix. Here is a direct link to the latest HAXM driver and the hotfix for Mavericks and Windows 8.1: http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-hardware-accelerated-execution-manager/
As long as you have the Intel HAXM driver and latest hotfix (and assuming the required hardware) you should be able to run both the Amazon AVD Launcher and Android Emulators using GPU Host and Intel x86 support.
Thanks,
