Add 9-patch image to Android Studio - android

I've created a nine-patch image using the Simple Nine-Patch Generator. This creates a directory with a res-folder, containing folders for each pixel-density-version of the image.
In Eclipse with ADT one could simply drag & drop these folders in the res-folder of your project.
This would seem like a no-brainer, but how do I add these generated nine-patch images to Android Studio?
I'm using Android Studio 1.0.1.

If your problem is that you cant find were the drawables are you could eaisly select pakages from the top left side in the project structure there you can find the res folder and you could eailsy paste the 9 path in the corresponding folders

Adding a folder of images to Android Studio

I am currently working on a learning project for toddlers where I am currently styling the layouts. I am trying to locate the folders where the images of the numbers and letters are kept and I copied them to drawables but when I click on the ImageView I am unable to find these pictures. Is there a way in which I could access these photos and use them in the other style layouts. The folder images contain the number of images and the folder alphabet contains the letter of images. These can be seen when I reveal drawable in the finder but not in the Project tool window under drawables. Screenshot
You cannot make any subFolder inside the drawable folder, Android Studio ignores any nested folders and will show you only images inside the drawable folder.

How to see a preview of custom vector asset (added by SVG format) in Android Studio?

I know i can use my own svg as icons by browsing them from the asset studio but it just show the name not the exact icon of the svg, i can't know just by name what that icon is look like , so can i view them while adding them to project like they are showing in below image?
I have many icon on my computer can i add them to that list , so that i can see them visually when i want to add a new vector asset.
I tend to think that it can be done because then icons which android asset studio is shows must be stored in a directory from where it pulls when when i open asset stdio , if i can add my svg to that directory then android studio may may also pull them too with default clip arts and they may also show up in asset studio, does anyone know what that directory is , or any other way of doing this.
Note android studio does not give such option via UI
When you add a new vector asset (assuming you've added it in the drawable directory), it gets added in the drawable directory.
It is generally saved by the name ic_thatSVGname. So it gets the prefix IC. So please browse in the drawable directory and you will find your vector asset.
Then double click on it so that it opens and you can see the preview on right side of the screen. It it doesn't, just click the PREVIEW button which also reside on the right side of the Android Studio.
So that means just search for that in drawable directory. And while adding new vector assets, right click on the DRAWABLE DIRECTORY only so that it gets into that directory else it might end up outside it.

adding images to drawable folder - showing blank image

while adding images to drawable folder using image asset i come accross this
How to solve this issue?
there is not any problem its the new window to add image asset android studio designed.
choose the image for asset type and give the path. then the android studio will generate different size of your image asset in different mipmap folders.
its a lot easier than before. if you dont want to use mipmap folders just copy and paste your file into youre desired folder in android studio manually.

How to place 9patch generated images in Android Studio?

I used the freely available Simple 9patch generator available online, to generate a logo for my app's splash screen.
But how do I place it in Android Studio drawable folder?
Do I have to make separate drawable folders like ldpi, hdpi etc?
I tried that but when I try to set the image on a layout, it gives me an error saying
Cannot resolve symbol #drawable/something
You need to make sure, you have place the images in the correct folder. Here's an example,
Original post: Add 9-patch image to Android Studio
Get rid of the .9 in #drawable/splash.9. It is just #drawable/splash. .9.png is the file extension, and file extensions are not used in references to resources.

Android Studio doesn't recognize 9patch generated images

I generated 9patch images from Simple 9 patch generator available free on the internet for the splash screen. When I write android:background="#drawable/splash.9", it doesn't recognize the image.
Plus , when I select Android from the drop down menu on left top side , I don't see the images I put in different drawable folders.
No need to add the .9 suffix. It's just there to tell the build environment that this is a 9patch. Link to documentation.
android:background="#drawable/splash"
should be enough
