Spinner graphical bug API 21 - android

I have one spinner in a fragment that have a very annoying graphical glitch.
This occurs only on my Nexus 5 with API 21.
I have try to set spinner.setLayerType(View.LAYER_TYPE_SOFTWARE, null) but the glitch is still present.
Any ideas?

I managed to work around this bug in two different ways:
Set a style to your spinner:
<Spinner
android:background="#drawable/background"
android:id="#+id/spinner"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
style="#android:style/Widget.Holo.Light.Spinner"/>
maybe the background color in the predefined styles is enough for you. If not try
Create a shape drawable with a corner radius:

<solid android:color="#00ff00" />
</shape>
and set it as a popupBackground to your spinner

AppCompatButton getting flat after change the background color

I just updated my android Studio and every time that I try to change the background color of AppCompatButton the layout gets flat and looses the ripple effect, it wasn't like that.
And normal :
In my old project, works fine too!

A good way to change your buttons background and keep the ripple effect is to create a separate drawable for them.
So you would create a default_button_background.xml with some pre-defined colors

android:color="#color/button_ripple_color">

<shape android:shape="rectangle">

Then you can assign this drawable to your button background like:

how to show divider line in autocompleteTextview? [duplicate]

I've seen this question asked some other times on the site, but no one couldn't get any answer.
Is there any way to customize the appearance of the divider in the dropdown showing when using an AutocompleteTextview in android?
It's pretty easy for a ListView, but using only an ArrayAdapter for the autocompletetextview, is there any way to customize the divider.
(Not the textview, I already know doing that)
Im not sure how you can do it for single AutoCompleteTextView but I know how to set it for the whole application. This should also help you :)

So wat im doing is I have a background color for the Linear layout and another background color for the text View (textView's background color overlaps the linear layout's background color) now using the margin property and setting the bottom margin of textview to 1dp u'll get a clean line between elements....
I had faced same problem and try many ways but not achieve result, at last i got a quick and easy way to set divider and divider lenght with AutocompleteTextview. Basically we can set a border from bottom side with TextView of ArrayAdapter Layout. Like as
step1. Make a layout for arrayadapetr like as

Finally looks as divider .
The answer from Mark is normally the best solution. However different versions of the AppCompat library have different behavior, regarding how android:dropDownListViewStyle affects other menus, like the system overflow/options menu. For example, in AppCompat version 23.0.1, it will not affect this menu in the ActionBar/Toolbar; whereas version 23.2.1 it will affect it, as explained here.
If you want a style that is isolated to only affect the AutoCompleteTextView, it may not be possible. But an alternative way is to create the list divider image manually, as part of the layout of the dropdown list row:

Spinner popup background color issue

The following code produces an issue (see attached images) on Asus Intel Zenfone. Every other device I tested on is showing it fine, meaning the black area around the Spinner popup is transparent.
Any way to get rid of black color? I have Theme.AppCompat.Light.NoActionBar applied to the Activity.

Android button background color

I am trying to set the background color of a button in my app and I am unable to achieve the result that I want...
The color that I am trying to set is holo_green_light(#ff99cc00). In order to do it, I am using setColorFilter(0xff99cc00, PorterDuff.Mode.MULTIPLY);
The color that I get is not the holo_green_light but a mix of lightgrey and holo_green_light.
I have tried using the LightingColorFilter without much success.
Is there a way to do it programatically, so that the button appears like a button and not a flat rectangle with the color that I need.
If you want to keep the general styling (rounded corners etc.) and just change the background color then I use the backgroundTint property

Why not just use setBackgroundColor(getResources().getColor(R.color.holo_light_green))?
Edit: If you want to have something which looks more like an Android button you are going to want to create a gradient and set it as the background. For an example of this, you can check out this question.
