How to use implicit intent from non activity class and in fragment - android

public class HomeFragment extends Fragment {
ShareLink statLoc;
#Override
public void onViewCreated(View view, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onViewCreated(view, savedInstanceState);
statLoc = new ShareLink();
statLoc.execute();
}
The above code is my fragment and am executing a class named ShareLink().
In that ShareLink class I used implicit intent to send data like below
public class ShareLink extends AsyncTask<String, String, String> {
String urlShare = DeviceIdGen.hmUrl;
String statusLoc = null;
public static String locLink = null;
private static String loc = null;
Context context;
String locUrl;
protected String doInBackground(String... params) {
WebServiceTasks wstShare = new WebServiceTasks();
return wstShare.getMethod(urlShare);
}
protected void onPostExecute(String result) {
super.onPostExecute(result);
try {
JSONObject jResult = new JSONObject(result);
statusLoc = jResult.getString("status");
if (statusLoc.equals("success")) {
loc = jResult.getString("link");
locUrl = "My Current Location :" + locLink + "\n\n"
+ "My Key : " + loc;
Intent emailIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
emailIntent.setType("text/plain");
startActivity((emailIntent).putExtra(
android.content.Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, locUrl));
}
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}}}
But am not able to achieve it. Please help as am a newbie

Just Edit your AsyncTask,
Add a constructor to it
public class ShareLink extends AsyncTask<String, String, String> {
String urlShare = DeviceIdGen.hmUrl;
String statusLoc = null;
public static String locLink = null;
private static String loc = null;
String locUrl;
private Context context = null;
public ShareLink(Context context) {
this.context = context;
}
protected String doInBackground(String... params) {
WebServiceTasks wstShare = new WebServiceTasks();
return wstShare.getMethod(urlShare);
}
protected void onPostExecute(String result) {
super.onPostExecute(result);
try {
JSONObject jResult = new JSONObject(result);
statusLoc = jResult.getString("status");
if (statusLoc.equals("success")) {
loc = jResult.getString("link");
locUrl = "My Current Location :" + locLink + "\n\n"
+ "My Key : " + loc;
Intent emailIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
emailIntent.setType("text/plain");
context.startActivity((emailIntent).putExtra(
android.content.Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, locUrl));
}
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}}}
And invoke your AsyncTask as
statLoc = new ShareLink(getActivity());
statLoc.execute();

you could pass a context or an activity to your ShareLink class and use that instance to start your intent.
for example
private Context context;
public ShareLink (Context context){
this.context = context;
}
and then in your onPostExecute you can use context.startActivity() or whatever you wanna do with the intent.

getApplicationContext error

I'm trying to store my device token from my android app programmatically to AWS SNS platform application.
I'm getting an error in getApplicationContext() method. Anyone with a solution for this error?
This is my code:
public class RegisterIdForAWS extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Void> {
private Exception exception;
#Override
protected Void doInBackground(String... strings) {
try {
String pushNotificationRegId = FirebaseInstanceId.getInstance().getToken();
if (pushNotificationRegId != null) {
CognitoCachingCredentialsProvider provider = new CognitoCachingCredentialsProvider(
getApplicationContext(),
"us-west-2:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx",
Regions.US_WEST_2);
String platformApplicationArn = "arn:aws:sns:us-west-2:11111111111:app/GCM/123";
AmazonSNSClient pushClient = new AmazonSNSClient(provider);
pushClient.setRegion(Region.getRegion(Regions.US_WEST_2));
String customPushData = "";
CreatePlatformEndpointRequest platformEndpointRequest = new CreatePlatformEndpointRequest();
platformEndpointRequest.setCustomUserData(customPushData);
platformEndpointRequest.setToken(pushNotificationRegId);
platformEndpointRequest.setPlatformApplicationArn(platformApplicationArn);
CreatePlatformEndpointResult result = pushClient.createPlatformEndpoint(platformEndpointRequest);
Log.w(TAG, "Amazon Push reg result: " + result);
}
} catch (Exception e) {
this.exception = e;
}
return null;
}
protected void onPostExecute(String text) {
Log.w(TAG, "Amazon Push reg Finished");
}
}
In constructor of your async class, pass Context
private Context mContext;
public RegisterIdForAWS (Context context){
mContext = context;
}
And instantiate class like this:
RegisterIdForAWS task = new RegisterIdForAWS (context);
Hope it helps.

Return button to previous activity with BaseAdapter

I currently have two activities doing HTTP requests.
The first activity contains a CustomList class extends BaseAdapter.
On the second, there is a previous button allowing me to return to the first activity.
Returning to the first activity, I would like to be able to recover the state in which I left it. That is to say to be able to find the information which also come from an HTTP request. I would like to find the data "infos_user" which is in the first activity and all the data in the BaseAdapter.
My architecture is as follows: Activity 0 (HTTP request) -> Activity 1 (with BaseAdapter and HTTP request) -> Activity 2 (HTTP request)
I put all the code because I really don't know how can I do this :/
First activity:
public class GetChildrenList extends AppCompatActivity implements View.OnClickListener {
private ArrayList<Child> childrenImeList = new ArrayList<Child>();
private Button btn_previous;
private ListView itemsListView;
private TextView tv_signin_success;
int id = 0;
String infos_user;
String email;
String password;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.get_children_list);
infos_user = (String) getIntent().getSerializableExtra("infos_user");
Intent intent = new Intent(GetChildrenList.this , GetLearningGoalsList.class);
intent.putExtra("username", infos_user);
btn_previous = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btn_previous);
btn_previous.setOnClickListener(this);
tv_signin_success = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tv_signin_success);
tv_signin_success.setText("Bonjour " + infos_user + "!");
itemsListView = (ListView)findViewById(R.id.list_view_children);
new GetChildrenAsync().execute();
}
class GetChildrenAsync extends AsyncTask<String, Void, ArrayList<Child>> {
private Dialog loadingDialog;
#Override
protected void onPreExecute() {
super.onPreExecute();
loadingDialog = ProgressDialog.show(GetChildrenList.this, "Please wait", "Loading...");
}
#Override
protected ArrayList<Child> doInBackground(String... params) {
int age = 0;
email = (String) getIntent().getSerializableExtra("email");
password = (String) getIntent().getSerializableExtra("password");
String first_name = null;
String last_name = null;
try {

}
Thanks for your help.
if you want to maintain GetChildrenList state as it is then just call finish() rather than new intent on previous button click as follow
replace in GetLearningGoalsList
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
Intent myIntent = new Intent(GetLearningGoalsList.this, GetChildrenList.class);
myIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);
startActivity(myIntent);
return;
}
with
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
finish();
}

AsyncTask not working inside ViewPager

I am having problem with AsyncTask class inside ViewPager's Fragment.
I have added code like below inside ViewPager's 3rd Fragment:
private View.OnClickListener finishClickListener = new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
UserIdAsyncTask userIdAsyncTask = new UserIdAsyncTask( getActivity(), "URL", "Test", "Value" );
userIdAsyncTask.execute();
Her is my UserIdAsyncTask class:
private class UserIdAsyncTask extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, String> {
String url = "";
String oldpass = "";
String newpass = "";
private Context mContext = null;
private ProgressDialog dialog;
public UserIdAsyncTask( Context context, String url, String oldPass, String newPass ) {
this.mContext = context;
this.url = url;
this.oldpass = oldPass;
this.newpass = newPass;
}
#Override
protected void onPreExecute() {
dialog = ProgressDialog.show(this.mContext, "", "Please wait...");
dialog.setCanceledOnTouchOutside(false);
dialog.show();
}
#Override
protected String doInBackground(Void... params) {
String str = "";
try {
return str;
} catch (Exception e) {
Log.e(ThirdFrag.class.toString(), e.getMessage(), e);
}
return str;
}
#Override
protected void onPostExecute(String response) {
dialog.dismiss();
Intent i = new Intent(getActivity(), ABC.class);
startActivity(i);
getActivity().finish();
}
}
In the given code, onPreExecute() called but doInBackground() never called.
Any ideas anyone? I'm really struggling with this one.

list of brands not displaying in a spinner

Hi in the below code I am displaying two spinner one is for displaying brand name and another for displaying model name.
I am getting the response from server like this:

Passing data from the class to the MainActivity

I am starting a Service TrackingService from MainActivity in the onCreate(). From the TrackingService I am passing JSONString to the PostData class. Then I am getting a Response from the server with the direction, route. I want to pass these values to the MainActivity but I am not getting them in the MainActivity. direction and route have values and onPostExecute() is being invoked and this condition if (route != 0) {} in the method is being entered but the ´onNewIntent()´ method in the MainActivity is not being invoked. How can I fix it to get the direction and route in the MainActivity from the PostData class?
MainActivity class:
public class MainActivity extends ActionBarActivity implements
AsyncTaskCallback {
private static Context context;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
Intent i = new Intent(this, TrackingService.class);
startService(i);
}
public static Context getAppContext() {
return context;
}
#Override
protected void onNewIntent(Intent intent) {
super.onNewIntent(intent);
Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras();
if (extras != null && extras.containsKey("dirtRout")) {
String directRoute = extras.getString("dirtRout");
String[] split = directRoute.split(",");
String direc = split[0];
String route1 = split[1];
boolean test = true;
if (test) {
test = false;
System.out.println("test f MainActivity: " + direc + ": "
+ route1);
tvD = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textDirect);
tvD.setText(direc);
tvR = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textRoute);
tvR.setText(route1);
}
}
}
}
Trackingservice class:
public class TrackingService extends Service implements AsyncTaskCallback,
LocationListener {
...
#Override
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
PostData sender = new PostData(TrackingService.this);
sender.post_data(jSONString, this);
}
}
PostData class:
public class PostData {
String jSONString;
private AsyncTaskCallback callback;
public PostData(AsyncTaskCallback callback) {
this.callback = callback;
}
class MyAsyncTask extends AsyncTask<String, Integer, ArrayList<Integer>> {
int route;
String direction;
.....
#Override
protected ArrayList<Integer> doInBackground(String... params) {
......
Gson gson = new Gson();
JSONStore data = gson.fromJson(sb.toString(), JSONStore.class);
route = data.getRoute();
direction = data.getDirection();
}
protected void onPostExecute(ArrayList<Integer> result) {
if (route != 0) {
String directRoute = direction + "," +Integer.toString(route);
Intent intent = new Intent(MainActivity.getAppContext(), MainActivity.class);
intent.putExtra("dirtRout", directRoute);
}
}
}
You are not starting your activity after creating the intent. Get the current activity from the app and call startactivity method.
