How to make click event for custom action bar in android? - android

I need to enable click event for custom action bar menu.In my app action bar(am used AppCompat Library) i created custom menus.So i need to click this menu for call another activity.
If i used normal menu resource in action bar like below i know to how enable the click event.

Adding action bar and options menu to activity

I am using this sample for my app. This sample doesn't have an action bar.
This is the layout of activity in which I want to add an action bar with options menu:

How can I add an ActionBar with menus to this activity?

Android Yelp like Search bar in ActionBar

I am trying to create android application that takes multiple parameters when searching. Currently, I have a searchable interface and am able search from my action bar. However, I want to create a yelp like search bar where I have 2 text fields to enter in data as shown in the image:
How can I add an additional text field when searching?

Action Bar has some residual from Progress bar when Progress bar is off

I made a circular progress bar at my activity. It works well. But when the progress bar is off, it leaves some residual from the progress bar as shown in the image. I think I need to refresh the progress bar so that I can get back the clean Action Bar again. The first figure is for when the progress bar is running and the second figure is when the progress bar is off (circular arrows are residuals) . My code is as follow. How can I have clean Action Bar again?

ActionBarSherlock actionLayout not triggering click event

Popup menu on click of a button in action Bar

I am trying to implement an action bar in which one of the buttons on click shows a popup menu.
Here's the menu. XML (menu items in the action bar)

You can put a menu within a menu to present sub-menus when the item is clicked. Then, in Java, you can use the same methods as usual.

The id of 'top' in the xml is still recognized even though it is a sub menu. This worked for me and it looks just like the popup menu.

implements PopupMenu.OnMenuItemClickListener to #Override onMenuItemClick method.

As the popup menu is a MENU, you have to handle this by implementing the "onOptionsItemSelected". You'll be able to say what to do for each menu option. It will replace the "onClick" option you defined and will be called automatically.

Try to change 'this' to getActivity().

may be you should change it to android:onClick="showPopup"?
