I'm planning to develop a googlecast application using android. But i'm wondering if we can use custom receiver that has a video and a layout that displays text from the android application, i have looked everywhere but i couldn't find anything related to my question. is this achievable:
is this achievable using android without using custom receiver.
is this achievable by only using custom receiver that displays
lets say ( half of the screen video and the other half custom layout
that receives data from android device) .
if there is any tutorial or any guide on how to implement this if possible please do point me to the right track.
P.S: i have searched for such thing but zero results i found.
thanks for your help.
You need to write a custom receiver; a custom receiver has some cast related stuff but it is simply an html page so you can layout the way you want. You can look at our documentations and samples.

I want a custom keyboard in android. I have referred many more examples and seen source codes on github but, couldn't found any relevant reference for swipe functionality. Now i want funcationality like if user want to write Hello World then it should only swipe on that words only like in some devices it gives by default. So, can anyone have any idea or suggestions regarding this, because i am facing first time this type of requirement. Thanks in advance. This below image is for what i actually want.
[SOLVED = I can't add to it, it's based on the active ROM]
Sorry for the vague questioning, I wasn't sure quite how to create it.
I'm wanting to add toggle buttons, or at least other elements into this part of android;
I can't find any documents on how to add to this element of Android, and I'm wondering if we actually can? Does anyone know what this element is even called and can link me to the appropriate android doc?
Thanks!
This is an application that ships with Android, hence you cannot change its behavior. It has a predefined set of elements that can be present on it. If you want to create a custom version of it, you will need to create a custom ROM.
This looks similar to the quick settings screen on my Samsung and it created by the phone manufacturer. You could create a custom ROM, but I don't think this is what you really want.
The closest I think you can get is the notification bar, which can use a custom layout:
Change Notification Layout
Also Take a look at the WatchOn app, which has a relatively complex control embedded into the notification screen:
I want to develop search bar like bellow image just like showing in Google search bar. How to achieve this. Please some can provide sample code or related links to achieve it.
I assume the actual question here is not how to create a widget (if it is, check the official Android documentation on widgets), but how you can enable a widget to receive text input, which, as far as i am aware, is not possible using standard widget elements.
You will probably have to try the way discussed over here - creating a transparent activity when your widget is tapped.
I want to do GooglePlus on Android. I know iOS have some open source which can be used to show the data based on their content-size and by maintaining the row linear, but I cannot search Android. I want to do it, but I do not know where to start. Can you give me some advice and links?
What I mean to say while you're just getting started with the development and say you add a slider theres a predefined skin for that and you can place it somewhere on the screen, but in some apps there are things like a knob in a place of slider which you can rotate to do the same stuff what the slider does . How do they do that, does it require openGL or something I am not asking for a complete tutorial or something just curious on what stuff goes into building such thing
Mostly, if something is not provided out of the box, you will have to build your own control.
For example, you mention a Knob. That isn't available in the Android SDK. Such a control could prove to be useful.
Here is a tutorial to build such a custom Control: http://go-lambda.blogspot.in/2012/02/rotary-knob-widget-on-android.html
This is an image of the final result from the tutorial linked above:
Here is an example of a custom slider / seek bar: http://permadi.com/blog/2011/11/android-sdk-custom-slider-bar-seekbar/
This should give you a rough idea on how to go about creating your own custom views.
And finally, what I personally find the best possible resource for keeping track of almost all good Custom Views is here: http://www.androidviews.net/
The androidviews.net website has shut down. Android Arsenal is a new website that lists several third party Android libraries.
