cannot see edittext in relativelayout (offscreen) - android

I have the following relative layout that has a listview with an EditText underneath. I can't see the edittext as the list takes up the whole screen.
how can i show both the listview and the edittext on the screen at the same time without scrolling?
i've tried numerous layout params
thanks
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
>
<TextView
android:id="#+id/textviewassessments"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:gravity="center"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge"
android:background="#color/blue_alpha_background"
android:textColor="#FFFFFF"
android:text="Assessments" />
<ListView
android:id="#+id/assessmentslist"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_margin="15dp"
android:background="#8fff"
android:cacheColorHint="#0000"
android:padding="5dp"
android:divider="#FFCC00"
android:dividerHeight="4px"
android:layout_below="#id/textviewassessments" >
</ListView>
<EditText
android:id="#+id/editTextassessments"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:ems="1"
android:lines="7"
android:inputType="textMultiLine"
android:hint="Please type any comments..."
android:layout_below="#id/assessmentslist" >
</EditText>
</RelativeLayout>

If you want to use RelativLayout then you should put one elment to the bottom and place the other above. Sample (not tested)
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent">
<EditText
android:id="#+id/editTextassessments"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:ems="1"
android:lines="7"
android:inputType="textMultiLine"
android:hint="Please type any comments..."
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" /> <!-- this will put the element on the bottom of the screen -->
<TextView
android:id="#+id/textviewassessments"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:gravity="center"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge"
android:background="#color/blue_alpha_background"
android:textColor="#FFFFFF"
android:text="Assessments"
android:layout_alignParentTop="true"
/> <!-- this will align the element to the head -->
<ListView
android:id="#+id/assessmentslist"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_margin="15dp"
android:background="#8fff"
android:cacheColorHint="#0000"
android:padding="5dp"
android:divider="#FFCC00"
android:dividerHeight="4px"
android:layout_below="#id/textviewassessments"
android:layout_above="#id/editTextassessments"
/> <!-- this will put the the list between the both elements and stretch its size due match parent -->
</RelativeLayout>

Change your EditText and align it to the bottom. Right now, you are telling it to be below the list so if the list takes up the full height then there is no room for it.
<EditText
android:id="#+id/editTextassessments"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:ems="1"
android:lines="7"
android:inputType="textMultiLine"
android:hint="Please type any comments..."
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" > //here
</EditText>
If you want it to be below the list no matter what (even if the list doesn't fill the whole screen) then you may want to use addFooterView()

Try:
<EditText
android:id="#+id/editTextassessments"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:ems="1"
android:lines="7"
android:inputType="textMultiLine"
android:hint="Please type any comments..."
android:gravity="bottom"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" >
</EditText>

Still my layout not shifting up side.

I am trying to shift my layout up when soft keyboard will open.
I have edittext and button. I can see edittext clearly whether keyboard is open or not but problem is that i am showing drop down for edittext. When drop down open it open on top of edittext because there is no sufficient space between keyboard and dropdown.
So i am trying to shift my entire screen up (only edittext will show). So can show dropdown below of Edittext.
I try following things...
I add following attribute in my activity in AndroidManifest.xml
android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan"
I add following code in my .java file
getWindow().setSoftInputMode(WindowManager.LayoutParams.SOFT_INPUT_ADJUST_PAN)
I read somewhere i need to use relative layout. I also try this but none of them helpful.
Here is my xml code for your reference.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:background="#EFEFEF"
>
<ViewStub
android:id="#+id/vsHeader2"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:inflatedId="#+id/header"
android:layout="#layout/copyofheader" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/firstPara"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginTop="56dip"
android:paddingLeft="12dp"
android:paddingRight="12dp"
android:text=""
android:textSize="16sp" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/secondPara"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#id/firstPara"
android:layout_marginTop="24dip"
android:paddingLeft="12dp"
android:paddingRight="12dp"
android:text=""
android:textColor="#666666"
android:textSize="16sp" />
<AutoCompleteTextView
android:id="#+id/mysecondautocomplete"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="40dip"
android:layout_below="#id/secondPara"
android:layout_marginLeft="12dip"
android:layout_marginRight="12dip"
android:layout_marginTop="12dip"
android:ems="10"
android:dropDownVerticalOffset="44dip"
android:windowSoftInputMode="stateHidden"
android:dropDownHeight="290dip"
android:imeOptions="actionSearch"
android:drawableLeft="#drawable/search_grey"
android:background="#drawable/borderforloginedittext"
android:drawablePadding="6dip"
android:hint="Enter Restaurant Name"
android:inputType="textPersonName"
android:dropDownWidth="match_parent"
android:textColor="#cc3333"
android:textColorHint="#999999"
android:textSize="16sp" />
I don't understand why my layout not shifting up. Please give me any hint or reference.
UPDATE:
I just re-read your question and found the mistake you are making. You are adding android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustPan" in AndroidManifestfor resizing or scaling the window for the keyboard.
You should use android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize" which will resize the window or adjust the window accordingly.
Try this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
>
<ScrollView
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent" >
<RelativeLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:background="#EFEFEF"
>
<ViewStub
android:id="#+id/vsHeader2"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:inflatedId="#+id/header"
android:layout="#layout/copyofheader" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/firstPara"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginTop="56dip"
android:paddingLeft="12dp"
android:paddingRight="12dp"
android:text=""
android:textSize="16sp" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/secondPara"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#id/firstPara"
android:layout_marginTop="24dip"
android:paddingLeft="12dp"
android:paddingRight="12dp"
android:text=""
android:textColor="#666666"
android:textSize="16sp" />
<AutoCompleteTextView
android:id="#+id/mysecondautocomplete"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="40dip"
android:layout_below="#id/secondPara"
android:layout_marginLeft="12dip"
android:layout_marginRight="12dip"
android:layout_marginTop="12dip"
android:ems="10"
android:dropDownVerticalOffset="44dip"
android:windowSoftInputMode="stateHidden"
android:dropDownHeight="290dip"
android:imeOptions="actionSearch"
android:drawableLeft="#drawable/search_grey"
android:background="#drawable/borderforloginedittext"
android:drawablePadding="6dip"
android:hint="Enter Restaurant Name"
android:inputType="textPersonName"
android:dropDownWidth="match_parent"
android:textColor="#cc3333"
android:textColorHint="#999999"
android:textSize="16sp" />
</RelativeLayout>
</ScrollView>
</RelativeLayout>
Put your entire layout inside a Scrollview. So when the soft keyboard gets open, your view will get adjusted accordingly.

android message box layout implementation

I was trying to implement a message box similar with that of Hangout. I want the edittext to expand if more content is typed into it, with the button to the right remain at the bottom right corner.
My current implement is as follows. The button to the right will move up if the edit text expands due to "alignParentTop". But if I set "alignParentBottom" as true, the entire screen will get occupied by this relative layout. Any idea how to fix it
<RelativeLayout android:id="#+id/structured_relative_interaction"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:background="#E0E0E0">
<ImageButton android:id="#+id/structured_imagebutton_takePhoto"
android:layout_width="40dp"
android:layout_height="40dp"
android:layout_alignParentTop="true"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:background="#drawable/save_structured_button"
android:src="#drawable/take_photo"/>
<EditText android:id="#+id/structured_edittext_answer"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:layout_alignParentTop="true"
android:layout_toLeftOf="#id/structured_imagebutton_takePhoto"
android:layout_margin="5dp"
android:gravity="top"
android:maxLines="5"
android:padding="10dp"
android:hint="#string/structured_hint"
android:textColorHint="#B0B0B0"
android:inputType="textCapSentences|textMultiLine">
</EditText>
</RelativeLayout>
I was able to achieve it using the following layout (some ids for images and strings were changed to make it compileable):
<!--suppress AndroidLintUselessParent, AndroidLintContentDescription -->
<RelativeLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
<RelativeLayout
android:id="#+id/structured_relative_interaction"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:gravity="bottom"
android:background="#E0E0E0">
<EditText
android:id="#+id/structured_edittext_answer"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:layout_toLeftOf="#+id/structured_imagebutton_takePhoto"
android:layout_margin="5dp"
android:gravity="bottom"
android:maxLines="5"
android:padding="10dp"
android:hint="hint"
android:textColorHint="#B0B0B0"
android:inputType="textCapSentences|textMultiLine" />
<ImageButton
android:id="#+id/structured_imagebutton_takePhoto"
android:layout_width="40dp"
android:layout_height="40dp"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:layout_alignBottom="#id/structured_edittext_answer"
android:background="#drawable/ic_launcher" />
</RelativeLayout>
</RelativeLayout>
Will produce:
Seems it's common issue with ExitText and RelativeLayout (at least, I've seen some similar questions previously).
<EditText
android:id="#+id/write_post"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="85dip"
android:ems="10"
android:gravity="top"
android:hint="#string/write_post"
android:inputType="textMultiLine"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceSmall" >
</EditText>
set android:inputType to textMultiLine, android automatically expands edittext if the text exceeds from its boundry.

Edittext loses style when align_baseline used

I have a layout where I have RelativeLayout with some Edittext which use the default style and are baseline aligned with some Textfield. The issue is the Edittext are losing the default Holo Light style line (the line under the text). If I take out the baseline then the line is shown though, of course, the Edittext loses the alignment.
I suspect this is bug or at least a very strange behavior, but I will give it a try by asking here in SO :-)
This is how it looks (Edittexts are the blank spaces to the right of Opens and Closes TextViews):
This is my layout:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_width="0dip"
android:layout_weight="50"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<EditText
android:id="#+id/store_name_edit"
android:hint="#string/store_name"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/store_code_edit"
android:hint="#string/store_code"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/store_group_edit"
android:hint="#string/store_group"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/store_type_edit"
android:hint="#string/store_type"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/store_address_edit"
android:hint="#string/store_street"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent" />
<TextView
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:paddingTop="20dip"
android:textSize="20sp"
android:text="#string/store_description" />
<RelativeLayout
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" >
<TextView
android:id="#+id/opening"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textSize="18sp"
android:text="#string/store_opening_hours" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/opens"
android:layout_below="#id/opening"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textSize="18sp"
android:text="#string/store_open" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/opens_edit"
android:layout_toRightOf="#id/opens"
android:layout_alignBaseline="#id/opens"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="100dip"
android:textSize="18sp" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/closes"
android:layout_alignBaseline="#id/opens"
android:layout_toRightOf="#id/opens_edit"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textSize="18sp"
android:text="#string/store_close" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/closes_edit"
android:layout_alignBaseline="#id/opens"
android:layout_toRightOf="#id/closes"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="100dip"
android:textSize="18sp" />
</RelativeLayout>
</LinearLayout>
My guess is the containing RelativeLayout somehow isn't expanding to allow for the lines on the EditTexts to show.
Change the containing RelativeLayout to:
<RelativeLayout
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="100dp">
I realise this may not be the best solution but it's a start. Another option might be to try using alignParentBottom instead of baseline on all the "bottom" row elements.

Android edittext auto grow with text and pushing things down

Yes, this is yet another edittext grow question on SO. And yes I've already gone through all those edittext grow questions. But this ones a bit specific.
UI:
A simple android layout with edittext and button below it. When text is less, the edittext view is still covering whole screen leaving space for button below.
Once user starts entering text, edittext grows vertically to accommodate text. At the same time, the button should also kept pushing downwards to let edittext grow.
User can vertically scroll through screen to view full text.
UI after entering significant text:
Here's the layout with edittext and button below:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<ScrollView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:background="#color/background"
android:clipToPadding="false"
android:fadingEdge="none"
android:fillViewport="true"
android:padding="13dp"
android:scrollbarStyle="outsideOverlay" >
<RelativeLayout
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:layout_weight="1">
<!-- some fixed width image -->
<ImageView
android:id="#+id/someimage"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginTop="4dp"
android:src="#drawable/page_white_text" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/some"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#id/someimage"
android:background="#null"
android:gravity="top"
android:minLines="10"
android:minHeight="50dp"
android:textColor="#222222"
android:textSize="15dp"
android:typeface="serif" >
<requestFocus />
</EditText>
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:baselineAligned="true"
android:layout_marginTop="5dp"
android:padding="10dp"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<Button
android:id="#+id/button1"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="Button" />
</LinearLayout>
</RelativeLayout>
</ScrollView>
This works more or less. But when I enter to much text, instead of pushing button downwards. It goes behind it like:
Any help here is much appreciated. Thanks :)
Here's my recommendation: inside the ScrollView, put a RelativeLayout in which you can place every element in a certain order using android:layout_below. For the auto-growing of your EditText, use this solution.
Let's see an example:
<ScrollView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:layout_gravity="center">
<RelativeLayout
android:id="#+id/general2"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_margin="20sp" >
<TextView
android:id="#+id/textFirstOpinion"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:text="#string/titleFirstOpinion"
android:textStyle="bold"
android:textSize="23sp"
android:textColor="#FFFFFF"
android:layout_marginTop="10dp" />
<EditText
android:id="#+id/fieldFirstOpinion"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#id/textFirstOpinion"
android:minHeight="80sp"
android:isScrollContainer="true"
android:inputType="textMultiLine"
android:textSize="20sp"
android:gravity="top|left" />
<Button
android:id="#+id/button"
android:layout_width="110dp"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#id/fieldFirstOpinion"
android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"
android:layout_marginTop="37sp"
android:textSize="23sp"
android:text="#string/textSendButton"
android:gravity="center_horizontal"
android:padding="10dp" />
</RelativeLayout>
</ScrollView>
try adding android:layout_below="#id/some" in your LinearLayout like
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:baselineAligned="true"
android:layout_marginTop="5dp"
android:padding="10dp"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_below="#id/some" >
<Button
android:id="#+id/button1"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="Button" />
</LinearLayout>
Since you want the button to be at the bottom of the page, add the following line
android:layout_below="#+id/some"
android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
in your LinearLayout code here like
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#+id/some"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:baselineAligned="true"
android:layout_marginTop="5dp"
android:padding="10dp"
android:orientation="vertical" >
Also make sure the layout:height parameter of EditText is set to wrap_content
Try this and tell me if it works or not

Layout with particular position of elements

I have this layout.xml :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:paddingRight="10dp"
android:paddingLeft="10dp">
<RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:padding="5dip"
android:background="#color/white"
android:layout_marginLeft="17dp"
android:layout_marginRight="17dp">
<LinearLayout android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:id="#+id/list_linearLayout">
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical">
<!-- titre food -->

android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textStyle="bold"
android:id="#+id/souscarte_element_titleT"
android:textColor="#color/black"
android:paddingLeft="5dp"/>
<!-- description food -->
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="horizontal">
<TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textColor="#color/black"
android:id="#+id/souscarte_element_descT"
android:paddingLeft="5dp"/>
</LinearLayout>
</LinearLayout>
</LinearLayout>
<!-- promo food -->
<TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textStyle="bold"
android:id="#+id/souscarte_element_promoT"
android:gravity="right"
android:textColor="#color/black"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:layout_toLeftOf="#+id/souscarte_element_prixT"
android:paddingRight="5dp"/>
<!-- price food -->
<TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textStyle="bold"
android:id="#+id/souscarte_element_prixT"
android:gravity="right"
android:textColor="#color/black"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:paddingRight="5dp"/>
</RelativeLayout>
</FrameLayout>
The render of this is here :
The problem is on the red frame (on the picture): when I have a big content (a lot of words) the second price (in bottom) put himself to the bottom and the text comes between the 1st price and the 2nd..
I would like to know how make it just stay in bottom of 1st price, thank you!
Please check this.
hope this will helpful for you.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:paddingLeft="10dp"
android:paddingRight="10dp" >
<RelativeLayout
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginLeft="17dp"
android:layout_marginRight="17dp"
android:background="#FFFFFF"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:padding="5dip" >
<LinearLayout
android:id="#+id/list_linearLayout"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="horizontal" >
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_weight="0.2"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<TextView
android:id="#+id/souscarte_element_titleT"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:paddingLeft="5dp"
android:textColor="#000000"
android:textStyle="bold" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/souscarte_element_descT"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:paddingLeft="5dp"
android:textColor="#000000" />
</LinearLayout>
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_weight="0.8"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<TextView
android:id="#+id/souscarte_element_promoT"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:paddingRight="5dp"
android:textColor="#000000"
android:textStyle="bold" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/souscarte_element_prixT"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:paddingRight="5dp"
android:textColor="#000000"
android:textStyle="bold" />
</LinearLayout>
</LinearLayout>
</RelativeLayout>
</FrameLayout>
You have set layout_align_parent_bottom="true" for the second price, that is why it stays fixed to the bottom. Change this to layout_below="#+id/souscarte_element_promoT".
Note that RelativeLayout allows its children to overlap, so it will draw children on top of other children if you aren't careful abotu how you arrange the children.
You could nest two layouts inside the main layout...
One for the texts, and the other one for the prices
Something like this:
<LinearLayout
android:orientation="horizontal" >
<LinearLayout <!--For the texts-->
android:layout_weight="1"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<TextView >
<TextView >
</LinearLayout>
<LinearLayout <!--For the prices-->
android:orientation="vertical" >
<TextView >
<TextView >
</LinearLayout>
</LinearLayout>
This is a rather hard thing to achieve as TextView doesn't provide this feature.
However, it's still possible.
You can extend TextView and when it's supposed to show the text (not sure in which method), you can measure the last 2 lines of text (maybe using Paint.measureText), in order to know where to place the price textView.
I say 2 because the first one would give you the Y coordinate, and the last one would tell you if it would wrap in case you put the textview, so that you will need to add extra to the Y coordinate.
Another possible solution is to put the price as a text inside the description TextView. In this solution you would also need to check the last line so that you could know if you need to create a new line or use the current one, and you need to know how many spaces to put.
Anyway, as others have mentioned, an easy way would be to simply always put the price below the text.
