My problem is this, I have multiple RelativeLayouts in a LinearLayout inside of a ScrollView that is in the main RelativeLayout. When trying to obtain the id's in the fragment class I have it keeps giving me errors.
I've looked around for an answer for this for about 2 days now and have only come across an idea of using

and it doesn't really help me with my app. I'm trying to develop a calendar week view which I already have the numbers working and the time on the left.

So when I try to access the id's this is what I get:

It gives me the error: sunday_relative_layout cannot be resolved or is not a field, I added a button to see if I could get the id for that and the same result happened. Yet I was able to find the id's for each of the day numbers and day names that is in the top LinearLayout.
Does anyone have a better solution to this? I'm trying to register when the user clicks the view so I can send them to a scheduling page.
EDIT:
So changing null to container allowed me to find my Ids

But it caused another issue with a map fragment on one of the other fragments saying I didn't have the right API key which it does.
If you have nested layouts
eg:

You have android:orientation=vertical so the Views will be laid out starting at the top and going down.
If you want them to all be next to each other, remove that from your xml since the default orientation for a LinearLayout is horizontal. If you do this, you will obviously need to change the android:width to wrap_content for your TextView or else it will take up the entire screen.
After your comment, a RelativeLayout would work best here.

In your textView you are matching the parent
android:layout_width="match_parent"
This will cause the textview to take up the entire width of the parent view.
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
and
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:orientation="vertical" will cause the elements to be stacked.
If you are using "horizontal" it's important not to have a child element with width matching parent.

The next thing - after I add something to array - 1st element changes and all the rest is with unchanged text. However, I walked through the code with debugger - it passes every element and sets text.

I have an android application. In my application, I have a custom listView with 5 columns that are textViews. The user can click the rows, once he does, the row layout will change, changing the last 2 textViews to EditTexts. I then register the new EditTexts onto my custom keyboard taken from this example - kindly note that I did a functional copy-paste of his example with regards to the custom keyboard class and how to make it work in the main layout. However, when I click the EditText in the row, my custom keyboard does not show up at all.
I have a global variable as such:

What I do is that I take the row values from the old layout, get the new layout search_result_inflate, then set the texts of the new layout using the values I got. As you can see, I have 2 editTexts and I registered qtyInputSearchResult to the custom keyboard class. However, the custom keyboard does not show up.
I also tried to use the custom keyboard class on an editText in another activity and it works just fine. Am I missing something here? I'm confused as to why the custom keyboard does not show up properly.

The problem is that you are trying to add a view which was inflated from XML file hence it already has a parent (because it is already situated in view hierarchy). Instead of the following
mScrollTolinear = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.toscroll);
you will have to implement something like this:
mScrollTolinear = getLayoutInflater().inflate(R.layout.your_layout_file, null);
And also keep in mind that ScrollView can only have one child view, otherwise you can get exceptions

So in case if you want to add ScrollView to LinearLayout you will have to call:

I have a TextView which I want to pin at the bottom of a landscape activity that is using LinearLayout with vertically arranged elements.
I have set android:gravity="bottom" on the text view, but it still likes to be just below the last element of the LinearLayout exactly what I do not want it to do.
Any suggestions?
You will have to expand one of your upper views to fill the remaining space by setting android:layout_weight="1" on it. This will push your last view down to the bottom.
Here is a brief sketch of what I mean:

where each of the child view heights is "wrap_content" and everything else is "fill_parent".
Update: I still get upvotes on this question, which is still the accepted answer and which I think I answered poorly. In the spirit of making sure the best info is out there, I have decided to update this answer.
In modern Android I would use ConstraintLayout to do this. It is more performant and straightforward.

If you don't want to use a ConstraintLayout, using a LinearLayout with an expanding view is a straightforward and great way to handle taking up the extra space (see the answer by #Matthew Wills). If you don't want to expand the background of any of the Views above the bottom view, you can add an invisible View to take up the space.
The answer I originally gave works but is inefficient. Inefficiency may not be a big deal for a single top level layout, but it would be a terrible implementation in a ListView or RecyclerView, and there just isn't any reason to do it since there are better ways to do it that are roughly the same level of effort and complexity if not simpler.
Take the TextView out of the LinearLayout, then put the LinearLayout and the TextView inside a RelativeLayout. Add the attribute android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" to the TextView. With all the namespace and other attributes except for the above attribute elided:
