All was ok with BaseGameUtils and GooglePlay services lib used with my project a day ago when I decided to update Eclipse to its latest version
Luna Service Release 2 (4.4.2)
Build id: 20150219-0600
then I've started to get problems with the projects.
I did clean and rebuild the entire workspace, even restart Eclipse, fix project properties... add support library... but still I cannot solve the
> [... BaseGameUtils] Could not locate google-play-services_lib.jar'.
> This will not be added to the package
Of course, BaseGameUtils and GooglePlayServices are marked as "Is library" and I've checked the jar
file /media/dotteri/proyectos/google-play-services_lib/bin/google-play-services_lib.jar
/media/dotteri/proyectos/google-play-services_lib/bin/google-play-services_lib.jar: Java Jar file data (zip)
so, is there, but somehow Eclipse doesn't find the jar.
This person has the same problem like me: Dx Could not locate '../google-play-services_lib.jar'. This will not be added to the package
Am I missing something? Thank you
[Solved]
More or less solved. I just created a new project and I moved the source code there. I know this isn't the best way to solve it but it works. Thank you. The problem is not Eclipse.
In Eclipse, go to "Build Path>Configure Build Path" and then option "Android" on the left, below in that screen delete the google play services and add again.
Here is the path for google play services:
Related
Using Eclipse IDE
Following the: https://developers.google.com/games/services/android/quickstart
Using the copy of google-play-services_lib (as recommended) and imported as Eclipse project.
Editing the game manifest with:
Adding our APP ID to res/values/strings.xml
Linked google-play-services_lib with our game project and set references in Order and Export tabs in the project settings
In accordance with https://developers.google.com/games/services/android/init using the project BaseGameUtils, from which our activity cannot inherit, because there’s another class already.
So, we moved to the second method without inheriting (see Using GameHelper without BaseGameActivity). We linked google-play-services_lib for BaseGameUtils and set the Library (compilation went down OK).
Linking added to our project to be able to use GameHelper as well as google-play-services_lib.
At this moment SDK from Facebook started causing trouble, so we had to add android-support-v4.jar (used by BaseGameUtils as well) and error during compilation occurs:
Found 2 versions of android-support-v4.jar in the dependency list,
but not all the versions are identical (check is based on SHA-1 only at this time).
All versions of the libraries must be the same at this time.
Versions found are:
Path: /Users/travis/Work/Craneballs/Mafia_android/facebook-android-sdk/facebook/libs/android-support-v4.jar
Path: /Users/travis/Work/Craneballs/Mafia_android/BaseGameUtils/libs/android-support-v4.jar
the project can be launched, but crashes on GoogleHelper = new GameHelper(this, GameHelper.CLIENT_ALL)
with the error message: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com.google.example.games.basegameutils.GameHelper
I’ve spent many painful hours on this and am at my wits end. Any ideas?
I was having the same problem.
Here's the solution that fixed it for me:
I had the same issue, I did the following to fix the problem.
Go to "Properties" of the project.
Select "Java Build Path"
Select "Order and Export" Tab
You should see the selected project's "src" and "gen" paths and dependencies here.
The order how they listed were first "src" and then "gen" path
I switch them, so that "gen" folder is build before the "src"
gen - automated code in project (from dependencies and references)
src - source code in project
There was no need to restart the Eclipse. It just started working.
Honestly I have never tried "Android Tools > Fix Project Properties", sometimes it might be doing the same thing. I do not know, I just did above after seen the error message, thinking something is wrong with the build paths.

NoClassDefFoundError for code in an Java library on Android
Android app crashes after SDK-tools update version (NoClassDefFound, tool version 22)
I have a rather big Android App project that is referencing several library projects. Everything was fine until i upgraded the eclipse ADT plugin to the newest version (v22). I also upgraded the SDK of course. I do not see any compile errors in eclipse, but when i run the project on the phone i get a NoClassDefFoundError.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.acra.ACRA
....
The arca library is included in one of the referenced library project (in the libs folder) and i can see it in the "Android Private Libraries" in the package explorer, also as i said, no compile errors. The project runs fine on everyone else's computer that did not upgrade ADT.
I have already tried a whole bunch of stuff including but not limited to:
re-install the android SDK
download a fresh ADT bundle
delete all my code an get it again from git
copy the library in question to the app project
comment out the code that uses this library - i just get the same error for the next library
all without any success, so i'm getting really desperate here.
I would be really happy if anyone could give me a hint on how to solve that problem.
Quoting Streets of Boston from his adt-dev post:
When upgrading, the 'Order and Export' of the new 'Android Private
Libraries' is not always checked. And the android-support-v4.jar is now in
this 'Android Private Libraries' section.
To fix this, go to 'Order and Export' and check 'Android Private
Libraries'. Then refresh/clean/rebuild.
After you done this 'fix' for a library project, you may need to just close
and re-open any depending project, because they may not see this 'fix'
immediately.
Give this a shot and with luck it will solve your problem.
Simply checking Android Private Libraries was not enough, I also had to install Android SDK Build-tools in Android SDK Manager.
I had also the same problem and my adt was 22.0.1. And none of the solution above worked. Further when adding a external library project to a working project.I always check the gen folder of working project and if R of external library project is there (along with package name),then only external library project is exported. And on my gen folder no packagename of external library was shown.
So I checked on project.properties file and there wasn't any external library link present android.library.reference.1= present. So I manually added the external library reference there ,even though I had added from project->properties->Java Build Path->Projects->Add. So manually editing the project.properties did all the work for me.
I have encountered a similar problem, spent about 3 hours, but none of the proposed here decisions did not help... Finally I found a source of the problem: my project files & project.properties were read-only. Eclipse is simply silently ignoring any changes in library dependencies when I doing it in the GUI!
I had the same problem. It was because of the eclipse project.
To solve it I created a new project in eclipse, copy my existing project classes and resources into it and then launched eclipse again and added my custom includes.
I had the similar issue and my answer is slightly different from CommonsWare's. Here is my screenshot:
After checking the libs back in my build started to work again.
I had also the same problem,
i) add gson lib as referecend librairies
ii) check it in java Build Path
