As the title say , i was using only one xml file on my project activity_maps ,
and everything was working fine , but after adding info_window.xml , the symbol R became red and i don't know why , i tried rebuilding project and nothing happened.
This is my activity_maps.xml :
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:context=".MapActivity" >
<fragment xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:id="#+id/map"
android:name="com.google.android.gms.maps.SupportMapFragment"/>
</RelativeLayout>
This is my info_window.xml :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<linearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="horizontal">
<ImageView
android:id="#+id/imageview1"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:src="#drawable/sefleticon"/>
<linearLayout
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical">
<TextView
android:id="#id/tv_place"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textSize="25sp"
android:textStyle="bold" />
<TextView
android:id="#id/tv_men"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
<TextView
android:id="#id/tv_women"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
<TextView
android:id="#id/tv_like"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
</linearLayout>
</linearLayout>
The both of the xml files are in res/layout
Change id="#id" with id="#+id" like this:
<TextView
android:id="#+id/tv_place" <!--add +id-->
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textSize="25sp"
android:textStyle="bold" />
edit:
and like Nikhil Verma said, change LinearLayout with upcase on two places.
In your second Xml to :
Change linearLayout to LinearLayout
And in your TextView's change android:id="#id/your_id" to android:id="#+id/your_id"

I've already seen many tutorials trying to put an image as background of my main activity. Tested many ways, and now I'm with this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<merge
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
<ImageView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:id="#+id/imageView"
android:src="#drawable/library"
android:scaleType = "centerCrop"
android:contentDescription="#string/bckgrndimg" />
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:background="#ffffff"
android:orientation="vertical"
>
<ListView
android:id="#android:id/list"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="370dp"
android:layout_marginLeft="0dp"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:layout_alignParentStart="true">
</ListView>
<Button
style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="#string/nuevo_libro"
android:id="#+id/nuevoLibro"
android:layout_above="#android:id/list"
android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"
android:layout_marginBottom="42dp" />
<TextView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge"
android:text="#string/biblioteca_virtual"
android:id="#+id/textView2"
android:layout_above="#+id/nuevoLibro"
android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"
android:layout_marginBottom="31dp" />
</RelativeLayout>
</merge>
Ok, this should go ok, shouldn't it? My "library" image is a 900x600 PNG image, but it just doesn't show up on the screen.
Am I missing something?
Thank you!
Do you need an Image View?
You could do something like this:
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:background="#drawable/library.."
...
>
...
</RelativeLayout>
Change Background color of RelativeLayout
android:background="#ffffff"
To
android:background="#android:color/transparent"
I have an android application that uses php and mysql and after fetching the from the database, the result are displayed in a listView that is handled by a BaseAdapter.
The problem is that the rows in the list seem like a square.
can anyone tell me where the mistake is in the xml files ???
activity_user_list.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:background="#drawable/background_1">
<ListView
android:id="#android:id/list"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent" />
</LinearLayout>
list_item.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:background="#drawable/background_1"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<TextView
android:id="#+id/uid"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:visibility="gone" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/name"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="text view"
android:textColor="#FFFFFF"

android:textColor="#FFFFFF" />
</RelativeLayout>
Try removing the background image from activity_user_list.
Try remove the background of your relative layout.
My intent is to create a list of widgets on a scroll view, with an ImageView in the centre of the screen behind them. Here is what I have, there will be more buttons when all is said and done:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent">
<ImageView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:contentDescription="#string/description"
android:src="#drawable/myImage"
android:id="#+id/imageView"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_centerInParent="true"
android:scaleType="centerInside" />
<ScrollView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_centerVertical="true"
android:background="#android:color/transparent">
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:gravity="center"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:background="#android:color/transparent">
<Button xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/newButton"
style="#style/homeScreenButton"
android:text="#string/new_profile" />
<Button xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/loadButton"
style="#style/homeScreenButton"
android:text="#string/load_profile" />
<Button xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/calculatorButton"
style="#style/homeScreenButton"
android:text="#string/calculator" />
</LinearLayout>
</ScrollView>
</RelativeLayout>
On eclipse's xml graphical layout interpreter, the screen is shown as expected. The same is true with the 2 different emulators that I tried, Android 2.2 and Android 4.0.3. But when I send to my actual device, Droid 4 w/Android 4.1.2 the image simply does not show up. I even tried making the ScrollView transparent (android:alpha="0") thinking that it was somehow covering the image up, but nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
try eliminating this line from ImageView,
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
it should be present only in the RelativeLayout
so your xml file become
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent">
<ImageView
android:contentDescription="#string/description"
android:src="#drawable/myImage"
android:id="#+id/imageView"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_centerInParent="true"
android:scaleType="centerInside" />
<ScrollView
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_centerVertical="true"
android:background="#android:color/transparent">
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:gravity="center"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:background="#android:color/transparent">
<Button
android:id="#+id/newButton"
style="#style/homeScreenButton"
android:text="#string/new_profile" />
<Button
android:id="#+id/loadButton"
style="#style/homeScreenButton"
android:text="#string/load_profile" />
<Button
android:id="#+id/calculatorButton"
style="#style/homeScreenButton"
android:text="#string/calculator" />
</LinearLayout>
</ScrollView>
</RelativeLayout>
I figured it out, the code was fine. My problem was that the image was in /res/drawable but it needed to be in /res/drawable-hdpi.
After many hours I can't fix button on the bottom of activity. Either is invisible or at the top. I tried also without relative layout, I tried adding another linear layout, but I still don't know how set this button.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:context=".News" >
<LinearLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<ImageView
android:id="#+id/imageView1"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:src="#drawable/news" />
<WebView
android:id="#+id/webView1"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
<Button
android:id="#+id/newsbutton"
style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:text="Chiudi" />
</LinearLayout>
</RelativeLayout>
<RelativeLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<ImageView
android:id="#+id/imageView1"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:src="#drawable/news" />
<WebView
android:id="#+id/webView1"
android:layout_below="#id/imageView1"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
<Button
android:id="#+id/newsbutton"
style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_gravity="bottom"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:text="Chiudi" />
</RelativeLayout>
First, you have a warning in Legacy Android Layout Editor, that either RelativeLayout or LinearLayout is useless. That should be a hint for you. Pay attention to warnings, they're helpful in most of the times.
Indeed, you can get rid of LinearLayout.
So, the solution is:
Remove LinearLayout.
Add android:layout_below="#+id/imageView1" to the WebView.
Add android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" to the Button.
Add android:contentDescription to ImageView.
Use #string instead of hardcoded strings.
Optional steps are not bolded, they will remove warnings.
Whole working code, tested under Android 4.1.2:
<RelativeLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<ImageView
android:id="#+id/imageView1"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:contentDescription="TODO: DESCRIPTION"
android:src="#drawable/ic_launcher" />
<WebView
android:id="#+id/webView1"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:layout_below="#+id/imageView1" />
<Button
android:id="#+id/newsbutton"
style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_gravity="bottom"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:text="Chiudi" />
</RelativeLayout>
copy paste the following in your button component ;)
android:layout_marginBottom="147dp"
android:layout_marginTop="50dp"
android:layout_marginleft="50dp"
android:layout_marginRight="47dp"
play only with the numbers and Im sure ull get the hang of it :)
Just add android:layout_below="#id/webView1" in your button.
If you would use LinearLayout, you could set the Widget that should fill the empty space like this: layout_height="0dp" and layout_weight="1". This should do the job too.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!-- Layout-Normal-Portrait -->
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:background="#color/white"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<RelativeLayout
android:id="#+id/thumb_layout"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent" >
<android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
android:id="#+id/mypager"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="300dp"
android:layout_above="#id/sum_layout"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:layout_alignParentTop="true" >
</android.support.v4.view.ViewPager>
</RelativeLayout>
<RelativeLayout
android:id="#+id/sum_layout"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:layout_below="#id/thumb_layout" >
<TextView
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:padding="6dp"
android:text="#string/lorem__ipsum"
android:textColor="#color/black" />
</RelativeLayout>
</RelativeLayout>
As soon as I run the program, it shows a error in the editor saying "error: Error: No resource found that matches the given name (at 'layout_above' with value '#id/sum_layout')." which is at line 22 in this code.
Can any one tell, what is wrong?
I wonder why you are making it so complex.
Anyways here is corrected snippet
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!-- Layout-Normal-Portrait -->
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <---No need to specify android:orientation
<android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
android:id="#+id/mypager"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:layout_above="#+id/textView" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/textView"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:padding="6dp"
android:text="Hello"
android:textColor="#android:color/black" /> <---Place your text String here
</RelativeLayout>
use #+id/sum_layout
and clean Project and run again!
This is because you declare sum_layout id AFTER its first reference.
The best solution is to declare it in the /res/values/ids.xml like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<resources>
<item type="id" name="sum_layout" />
</resources>
And then reference it in all your layouts without the + keyword
<android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
android:layout_above="#id/sum_layout"
/>
And
<RelativeLayout android:id="#id/sum_layout" />
Try This
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:background="#color/white"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
android:id="#+id/mypager"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="300dp"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:layout_alignParentTop="true" >
</android.support.v4.view.ViewPager>
<TextView
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:padding="6dp"
android:textColor="#color/black" />
When you are using relative layout, you are relating the controls with each other.when you add any control you add next control with respect to the control defined before.Likewise here you have defined view pager layout which is under layout having id #+id/sum_layout. but you have defined layout #+id/sum_layout under view pager.so it doesn't get id #+id/sum_layout,so how it will set view pager under the text view.first of all add the view and then add to its under/above.Here is your mistake:
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content">
<android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
android:id="#+id/mypager"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="300dp">
</android.support.v4.view.ViewPager>
<TextView
android:id="#+id/mytext"
android:text="#string/lorem__ipsum"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#+id/mypager"/>
</RelativeLayout>
Set the layout according to this wherever you have to keep to its below or above.
hope it will help you.
