I recently begun working with android.
I have created registration form with some basic fields. its working fine, but here task is to upload pic along with this form fields to the server. Pic can be choose from existing or can capture with cam. Please any one suggest me best way of doing this task.
You might be able to do this using a html form in a webview, I don't know if its the best approach, but it could work for you.
The html form will include a set of inputs, and an image upload button.
The form can then be posted to your database/other application

I am currently working on an android application that will allow people to read the constitution, issue is I have only managed to get my hands on a soft copy pdf document. Ideally, I wanted an API that would allow me to fetch the document by Topic, issue or paragraph, I thought of multiple ways of getting the job done
1. Is by putting the document on the server, when user opens the app it downloads the pdf and allows them to read it(Problem with this is I won't be able to mess with the content like bold some text etc).
2. Is copying the content of the pdf into the databse and just fetching the text with a query(issue with this is I wont be able to do pagination given I put the content in one field)
Here is the link to the Constitution I needed a way in which I can load the data from the database in a way that I will be able to paginate, load a single paragraph or topic at a time. Can anyone whose been in a similar situation help me figure out the best way possible.
You don't to convert it to text, you can integrate MuPdf in your application check this answer I've found integrating pdf reader
I've created a simple android browser. I have used EditText for URL and Webview for loading webpages. Although the browser works fine when I put the complete URL path, I need a functionality by which I can get predictions/auto-completion of partially put URLs. Please let me know if following options are valid -
Using AutoCompleteTextView instead of EditText with a database of all the available websites on the internet(More than 1 billion websites!! Where can I get such dynamically updating database??)
Saving URLs which are frequently being used by the user and use them as a prediction in an AutoCompleteTextView.(How can I add these URLs in a dynamic AutoCompleteTextView/Database??)
Currently I am using google search as a workaround. Please provide your views on how this can be achieved.
Good day.I want to create an share field like facebook. In the facebook if you insert an link it will automatically get the lets say 'short preview' of your link with an title and image.I dont think that facebook got in touch with whole wordls website databses so it gather them from databases but rather parsing the url somehow.Anyway lets imagine i have an edittext with user letting input some ulr.How can i achieve this kind of technique?By googling i did not find anything closer to what i want.
Facebook downloads the url and displays the title in the header and a few lines of text. A prominent image on the page if it finds one. You'd have to do something similar- download the url, parse the html, and grab enough info to make your preview.
Most of the websites have og(Open Graph) tags in them. Check out the Facebook Open Graphs Website to understand more about these tags. You can fetch data corresponding to these tags and that is what most social media sites and WhatsApp do to provide a preview.
We have our own Artwork and photography images uploaded in different websites like Tumblr,500px,Deviantart,Flickr etc.So for every image there will be already some URL which is publicly available for everybody to view or download.
Example of such a URL is : http://40.media.tumblr.com/b12772f7533b6283ca008ba8d7ec2192/tumblr_nsezua4hur1r4xqayo1_500.jpg
Like there will be a lot of URL, and we are able to show this in our app and app let user to download this URL. Since the server is not our own, But the images are our own, are we allowed to use these urls in our app to show as a gallery app and let the user download it to their own.
Is it allowed? This is related to programming, because we have seen same websites providing their own APIs to fetch data. But we dont want too many details, Our requirement is simple, So we are trying to keep it simple and economical.
You should be fine, but check that the URLs don't change, or you'll be left with a lovely little error.
I a'm writing a timetable app for my school. Therefore I would have to send a notification if the timetable has been changed. So this would be a change in the html code. I can't use the if modified since option because this webpage is automatically updated, so I have to notice a change in the html code.
I hope someone can help me out of here.
There's two ways to do this well, and neither involves looking at the HTML.
1)Write a webservice to query for the raw information. This can include a timestamp of the last update which you can just compare
2)Do the entire feature via push messaging rather than pull.
The only reasons to even consider checking the HTML for this is if you're doing this without the school's help and screen scraping the information. In which case you may as well just do a string.equals between the last html you got and the current one, there's no better way in that case.
