Intent is not working in fragment - android

I have the below code :
public class HomeFragment extends Fragment {
private List<RowItem> rowItems;
private static Integer[] images = { R.drawable.red, R.drawable.spidy,
R.drawable.prisoners, R.drawable.red, R.drawable.spidy };
public HomeFragment() {
}
#Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
}
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container,
Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View rootView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_home, container,
false);
ListView lv = (ListView) rootView.findViewById(R.id.myList);
rowItems = new ArrayList<RowItem>();
String[] titles = { "Movie1", "Movie2", "Movie3", "Movie4", "Movie5" };
String[] descriptions = { "First Movie", "Second movie", "Third Movie",
"Fourth Movie", "Fifth Movie" };
// Populate the List
for (int i = 0; i < titles.length; i++) {
RowItem item = new RowItem(images[i], titles[i], descriptions[i]);
rowItems.add(item);
}
// Set the adapter on the ListView
LazyAdapter adapter = new LazyAdapter(getActivity()
.getApplicationContext(), R.layout.list_row, rowItems);
lv.setAdapter(adapter);
lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() {
#Override
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view,
int position, long id) {
Toast.makeText(getActivity(), "test", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
Intent myIntent = new Intent(getActivity(), News.class);
getActivity().startActivity(myIntent);
// startActivity(in);
}
});
lv.setOnItemSelectedListener(new OnItemSelectedListener() {
#Override
public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> arg0, View arg1,
int arg2, long arg3) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
}
#Override
public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> arg0) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
}
});
return rootView;
}
}
I have written Toast ans startIntent on item click, but it is not working. Neither toast is display nor new activity is starting. I have also tried onItemSelection method but it is not working. How can i used this in this Fragment class?

First don't need to be implement OnItemSelectedListener for ListView. Just remove it.
Second make
android:focusable = "false"
android:focusableInTouchMode = "false"
for your UIs in custom inflated views in listview

How to create custom listview from two array strings in fragment?

I was searching on Youtube and other questions on Google but didn't get the best result. I need to connect two ArrayList to TextView on XML, I did try this with two arrayadapter, but the result only affects one on the last of arrayadapter. Maybe anyone here can help me with this case.

Using spinner in android fragment view and button click

I am a newbie programmer in android.I am trying to develop a simple paternity blood test.The logic is like this.I have three spinners and blood group A,B,AB and O will be listed into the spinner.The user have to chose blood type from A,B,AB or O for child,mother and father and then click submit button.The button will do some matching and produce a string result.I have tried several methods whichI found on internet. But still unable to use button click function.
Here is my code.Plz correct my mistake .Thanks.

I have made some changes in your code so try this.
public class Paternitytest extends Fragment {
private String childSpinnerString, momSpinnerString, dadspinnerString;
#Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
final View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.paternitytestlo,
container, false);
final Button setItem = (Button) view.findViewById(R.id.btn_paternity);
final TextView txt1 = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.paternity_ans);
setItem.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener()
{
#Override
public void onClick(View view)
{
//Some if else statement will be applied here by using String c, f and m
Log.d("Blood groups- ", "Child - " + childSpinnerString + " Mom - " + momSpinnerString + " Dad - " + dadspinnerString);
}
});
return view;
}
#Override
public void onViewCreated(View view, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onViewCreated(view, savedInstanceState);
Spinner childspinner = (Spinner) view.findViewById(R.id.childblds);
Spinner dadspinner = (Spinner) view.findViewById(R.id.dadblds);
Spinner momspinner = (Spinner) view.findViewById(R.id.momblds);
// Spinner Drop down elements
String[] categories = {"A", "B", "O", "AB",};
// Creating adapter for spinner
ArrayAdapter adapter = new ArrayAdapter(
getActivity().getApplicationContext(), android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, categories);
// Drop down layout style - list view with radio button
adapter.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item);
// attaching data adapter to spinner
childspinner.setAdapter(adapter);
dadspinner.setAdapter(adapter);
momspinner.setAdapter(adapter);
// Spinner click listener
childspinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new AdapterView.OnItemSelectedListener() {
public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parent, View view,
int position, long id) {
childSpinnerString = parent.getItemAtPosition(position).toString();
}
#Override
public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parent) {
}
});
dadspinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new AdapterView.OnItemSelectedListener() {
public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parent, View view,
int position, long id) {
dadspinnerString = parent.getItemAtPosition(position).toString();
}
#Override
public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parent) {
}
});
momspinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new AdapterView.OnItemSelectedListener() {
public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parent, View view,
int position, long id) {
momSpinnerString = parent.getItemAtPosition(position).toString();
}
#Override
public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parent) {
}
});
}
}
Try onClickListener for your button:
btn_paternity.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View arg0) {
String mom = momblds.getSelectedItem().toString();
}
});

onItemClick and Toast don't work in a listfragment

So i'am just asking your help because i have absolutly no error nothing in the logcat just nothing is happening
You've implemented ListFragment so directly #Override onListItemClick(...)
#Override
public void onListItemClick(ListView l, View v, int position, long id) {
// do something
Toast.makeText(getActivity(), "Lol", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
}
Take a look at this
I am not sure but try to put below line in RelativeLayout.
android:descendantFocusability="blocksDescendants"
Hope it will work.!!!
you have to override onListItemClick() of listFragment you dont call listview.setOnItemClick();

Get listitem from listview(Customized using Radio Button) when clicked on the Particular Item

I have prepared custom Listview in that i want to select one item from view so for that i have used RadioButton view for single choice item,but i customized it.Following is my total code ,because there may be error in the layout so please help me in solving this.

public void setSelected(int selectedPosition){
this.selectedPosition=selectedPosition;
notifyDataSetChanged();
}
Also remove from adapter
rbStartFrom.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
selectedPosition = (Integer) v.getTag();
notifyDataSetInvalidated();
Log.i("IN ADAPTER", "" + selectedPosition);
}
});
And add android:clickable="false" and set selectedPosition to -1 by default
The first I see is, that You have to change the reference to the Views where You want to set the other views below :
<Spinner
android:id="#+id/spinner1"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
<ListView
android:id="#+id/lstDemo"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_below="#+id/spinner1" <!-- correct: #id/spinner1 -->
android:layout_marginBottom="60dp" >
</ListView>
<TextView
android:id="#+id/emptytv"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_below="#+id/spinner1" <!-- correct: #id/spinner1 -->
android:layout_marginBottom="60dp"
android:gravity="center_vertical|center_horizontal"
android:text="No Records Found."
android:textSize="25sp" />
<Button
android:id="#+id/button1"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:layout_marginLeft="31dp"
android:text="Button" />
</RelativeLayout>
But anyway, Your TextView is sitten directly above the listView, is this Your intention? If not, You have to set
android:layout_below="#+id/lstDemo"
Also, if You get any errors, please post the logcat output. If You just have problems with Your layout, please explain clear enough what exactly You want.
EDIT
try to get the selected item String like this:
final String item = (String) parent.getItemAtPosition(position);
loadListView(item);

ListView.onItemClick not working

My ListView in Activity:
ListView listView1 = (ListView) menu.findViewById(R.id.menuList);
String menuItems[] = new String[] { "My Wants", "Profile", "Notifications",
"Feedback", "Logout" };
listView1.setAdapter(new SideMenuAdapter(this, menuItems, listView1));
listView1.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() {
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view,
int position, long id) {
if (position == 1) {
Intent intent = new Intent(FeedListViewActivity.this,
UserProfileActivity.class);
startActivity(intent);
}
if (position == 0) {
showMyWants();
}
}
});
menu is :
menu = inflater.inflate(R.layout.horz_scroll_menu, null);
horz_scroll_menu.xml is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/menu"
android:layout_width="1dp"
android:layout_height="1dp"
android:background="#FFFFFFFF"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<TextView
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:background="#FF000000"
android:text="Menu"
android:textColor="#FFFFFFFF"
android:gravity="center" />
<ListView
android:id="#+id/menuList"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:cacheColorHint="#FFFFFFFF"
android:scrollbars="none" >
</ListView>
</LinearLayout>
My SideMenuAdapter:
public class SideMenuAdapter extends BaseAdapter {
private static final int TYPE_MAX_COUNT = 2;
private static LayoutInflater inflater = null;
private Activity activity;
public ImageLoader imageLoader;
public static String[] values;
ListView myList;
public SideMenuAdapter(Activity a, String[] sa, ListView lv) {
values = sa;
activity = a;
inflater = (LayoutInflater) activity
.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
myList = lv;
}
public int getCount() {
return values.length;
}
public Object getItem(int position) {
return position;
}
public long getItemId(int position) {
return position;
}
public static class ViewHolder {
public TextView mainText;
public TextView sideText;
}
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
ViewHolder holder = new ViewHolder();
View vi = convertView;
LayoutInflater inflater = activity.getLayoutInflater();
vi = inflater.inflate(R.layout.side_menu_list_item, null);
holder.mainText = (TextView) vi.findViewById(R.id.mainText_sideMenu);
holder.sideText = (TextView) vi.findViewById(R.id.sideText_sideMenu);
vi.setTag(holder);
holder.mainText = (TextView) vi.findViewById(R.id.mainText_sideMenu);
holder.sideText = (TextView) vi.findViewById(R.id.sideText_sideMenu);
holder.mainText.setText(values[position]);
if (position == 2) {
holder.sideText.setText("3");
holder.sideText.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.orange);
}
return vi;
}
#Override
public int getViewTypeCount() {
return TYPE_MAX_COUNT;
}
}
My Xml for ListView items:
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/sideMenuListItem"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:gravity="center_horizontal"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:padding="3dp" >
<TextView
android:id="#+id/sideText_sideMenu"
android:layout_width="50dp"
android:layout_height="50dp"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:clickable="true"
android:gravity="center"
android:textSize="20dp"
android:padding="5dp" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/mainText_sideMenu"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="50dp"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"
android:layout_toLeftOf="#id/sideText_sideMenu"
android:clickable="true"
android:gravity="left|center_vertical"
android:textSize="20dp"
android:padding="5dp" />
</RelativeLayout>
when running this application on Emulator, if i click with mouse nothing happens. But when i select any item on the list using navigation buttons on the KeyBoard and click Enter, it works fine.
when running the app on a device. If i go on click any item of the list, like some 10-20 times it works sometimes.
Edit:
Actually everything worked fine when i was using predefined ArrayAdapter<String> and android.R.simple_list_item. But i want a custom adapter
why is it so?
Its because in my ListView item layout i added
android:clickable="true"
for both the TextViews. So when i click on the ListView item it indeed is a click on these TextView whose onClick is not implemented. Removing the clickable attribute from the TextViews solved my problem.
Thanks everyone
Try making the RelativeLayout clickable and focusable.
Layout File
<ListView android:id="#id/android:list"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:background="#000fff"
android:layout_weight="2"
android:drawSelectorOnTop="false">
