I am unable to scroll my scrollview. It has a textView, an imageview and few linear layouts inside of it. When I replace the imageview and linear layouts with textview it is working. Here is my code:

Put an empty view with fixed height

as your last item in the linear layout which is a child of scroll view..
This is just a trick, I don't know the logic. Maybe, in the presence of bottom navigation bar, the scrollview behaves like that. So if we add another view with height that matches the bottom navigation bar's height(40-50) it performs well.
The child view of a ScrollView should be set to wrap_content. If you set it to match_parent, it will fill the area of the ScrollView and never scroll, because it won't be larger than the ScrollView.
Try changing the child LinearLayout layout_height to either wrap_content or a specific size (in dp) instead of match_parent.
Your ScrollView child needs to have its height as wrap_content :

Maybe i'm too late for this, but the only method that helped me fix the scrollview not scrolling after hours of searching and trial and error method is, setting scrollview's height to 0dp.

The top constraint layout having "match_parent" will fit the screen.
The Scroll View inside having "0dp" adjusts the height to the content inside and creates a scrollable view when the content goes beyond the top/ parent constraint layout.
The inner most constraint layout (child of scroll view) will contain the views and actual contents.
You should set the height of LinearLayout (child of Scrollview) to wrap_content.
When the child is taller than the ScrollView, then android:fillViewport="true" attribute has no effect.
If you set the height of the Linear layout inside the scrollview to match_parent, there is nothing to scroll if the height is the same as the scrollview.
You have to set it to wrap-content. This way the height of the LinearLayout will be greater than the scrollview, and you will then be able to scroll.

I want to have a "fixed_space" at the top of screen and a "scrollview" at the bottom of the screen which should be below fixed_space. The rest of the screen is a container "rest_space".
Unfortunately my scrollview has a shorter height(by 100dp which fixed_space has) ,if content is too big/scrollable.
I tried to achieve same with ConstraintLayout and RelativeLayout, but I have got same result.
Any ideas why scrollview has 100dp shorter height, as it should be?

Ok, I think this should solve your probem:
First, I started by using RelativeLayout. I did it in order to get the fixed_space aligned to the top and the scrollview aligned to the bottom.
Then I changed the View for a LinearLayout and put a TextView within it so I could use wrap_content and this is the tricky part:
When you use ScrollView with wrap_content and a View with the weight stuff, Android can't make the calculations it needs to get the screen drawed because there is no reference. When I put the TextView with wrap_content itself that gives the reference because Android know the size of the text.
You don't have to use the TextView but you will need anything that gives Android that reference.
In this case, the scrollview is going to be stretched, not the LinearLayout. If you want the second to get strached, then I'm afraid you are going to need to set a fixed height to your scrollview.

currently I have a LinearLayout with a bunch of other Views as children. Almost all of them use the height of wrap_content and the main LinearLayout uses wrap_content as well. However, the last child in the main LinearLayout is a RelativeLayout which uses match_parent. It contains a MapView and a few buttons.
I want to add some more children before the last child. By doing this, the space the map can take up gets smaller and smaller the more children I add. This can go so far, that the map is not visible anymore at all because other children, even with wrap_content, are taking up the whole space.
My idea or whish is to put the main LinearLayout inside a ScrollView. Then I could have unlimited children.
My question is: How can I make my RelativeLayout take up the rest of the screen or be at least 200dp in height so that I can be sure that it is visible even if there is not enough space on screen to display it at first?

You should make action button align at the bottom and that scroll view should be above that button. In this way scroll view will always be in screen and also button will be visible.

I have an ImageView, a TextView and another 'ImageView', grouped in a vertical LinearLayout.
The TextView should contain long text, so I wrapped it in a ScrollView. The first ImageView should be 100dp height, and the third 100dp height. The middle TextView should fill the entire available space, and if the text is too long the a scroll bar should appear.
The entire layout is part of a parent layout, so this layout has only part of the screen available. To demonstrate it i set the LinearLayout height to be 265dp.
The problem is that the the whole text appears, the scroll bar doesn't appear, and the third bottom ImageView height is squashed.

the weight that you assigned to the TextView does not have any meaning: It's inside a ScrollView (which extends FrameLayout, not LinearLayout) and even if it did have a meaning it's not what you are looking for - It's just say that it should take most of the space inside the ScrollView
You gave the ScrollView height of wrap_content - in your case it means that it will take the full height of the TextView - thus if the TextView height is bigger than the height of the screen - It will take all the height of the screen - thus your last TextView will not have enough space.
You can solve it using 3 (or more) methods
Assign fixed height to the ScrollView
Assign weight to the ScrollView (and maybe also to the rest of the Views)
Use the New PercentRelativeLayout. just assign height percent for the ScrollView to capture.

Put your ScrollView inside a RelativeLayout and center it in the RelativeLayout. In order for this to work, your ScrollView should have

I think a more elegant solution would be to use the ScrollView's android:fillViewport property. A ScrollView is a little different in how it treats it's content view (can only have one), even if you set match_parent (fill_parent) to the ScrollView it won't give that much spacing to it's content view, instead the default behavior is for the ScrollView to wrap the content regardless of what you specify for that view. What android:fillViewport does is tell the ScrollViewto stretch its content to fill the viewport (http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/ScrollView.html#attr_android:fillViewport). So in this case, your LinearLayout would be stretched to match the viewport and if the height goes behind the viewport then it will be scrollable which is exactly what you want!
The accepted answer won't work properly when the content extends beyond the ScrollView because it will still center the content view first causing it to cut off a portion of the view, and the ScrollView centered in another layout works but just doesn't feel right, besides I think it will also result in a lint error (useless parent or something along those lines).
Try something like this:

Just remember that the reason it is being centered here now is because of the android:gravity on the LinearLayout since the ScrollView will stretch the LinearLayout so keep that in mind depending on what you add to the layout.

Make sure to use Single Child in ScrollView just like in above example which is Relativelayout.
For #Patrick_Boss - what stopped the content from cutting of in my application was to change the gravity and layout_gravity to center_horizontal for the LinearLayout.
It worked for me...but not sure if it will work for you.

One thing to consider is what NOT to set. Make certain your child controls, especially EditText controls, do not have the RequestFocus property set.
This may be one of the last interpreted properties on the layout and it will override gravity settings on its parents (layout or ScrollView).
