I have code to get location, which I believe must be working but it doesn't at all:

First of all, your current solution utilizes "getLastKnownLocation" which means, that if you actually retrieve the longitude and latitude, you cannot be certain that it will return the current position of the user. It simply returns the location which was last found which can be miles away.
That is nothing wrong in doing so, but it leaves for uncertainty.
Instead, I have personally implemented a location manager for retrieving the current position of the user by utilizing the code provided in the following post which works great:

By using this specific code, you will also be given the advantage that it tries to utilize the WiFi connection first for determining the position which is slightly better. It that doesn't work, it will utilize the GPS instead. Additionally, if GPS services aren't enabled, a dialogue will be shown telling the user to enable those.

Additional notes
As I have stated in a previous post, the Geolocation API will does unfortunately not work on all devices. You can hereby consider using the Reverse Geocoding API instead, which is additionally much more reliable:

It simply requires that you send a HTTP request which should contain latitude and longitude, whereafter it will provide a response in JSON which is easily parsed.
Sometimes it takes a while for the device to deliver the first locations if you haven't used the GPS before. Also, make sure you're in a location where you can gps updates, or try on the emulator using geo fix via telnet.

I've just tested the above code on my device and everything is working smoothly, not sure what is the problem at your end.
Important notes:
Please make sure you have the permission to access GPS location in your manifest file

The code may not work properly on the emulator , better test on actual device. if you don't have access to one , please checkout the DMMS Emulator Control to generate location data
Edit:
you need to commit out the Location data related to Network Provider.

I have tried following code but not getting current location.
When I manual set location at emulator control then I get such location but not getting current location .I get null location.
How to get current location?
Is there any other way to get current location?

I have added permissions in manifest.xml as below:

You won't get current location in emulator. You can set them through DDMS, and they will be your current location in case of a emulator.
Please, don't try to get last-known-location, most of the time it's stale and useless. Set up locationListener instead and wait for the location updates. This will get you your current location.
You may use this code to start listing for GPS updates and do something with the data you receive. It also prints messages in the log file for easy debugging. Please, note, this function does not return any results, it only starts listening to GPS. Results will be provided some time later in // do something here with the new location data part, when you may save them somewhere.

Now the problem I'm facing is, it is not showing me the current location when the gps is turned on. The loc object , loc = mlocManager.getLastKnownLocation(provider); always returns null. I got the value for provider as gps.
But if I turn of my gps connection, the same loc object will have relevant information and it works partiall correct. That means, it gives me the nearest location. I mean the full city location where I am sitting.
But if I on my gps connection, it does not give me even the city location also, does not enters if loop only inside location listener class. I am not getting what is going wrong here.
Any one can tell me how to solve it?

First of all I'm not familiar with the Android location API, but did you try the GPS outside? Since GPS doesn't work inside buildings, it's pretty hard to retrieve the location of your mobile device using only your GPS. When indoors, typically your "GPS" position is determined using your WiFi acces point connection instead.
I am having a problem in getting GPS coordinates in 2.1.
The code i am using right now is working well in 1.6 but when i test
this same apk in 1.6 device is showing null values
please help me to find a way to work with 2.1 devices also

LocationManager.getLastKnownLocation does not guarantee that it will return a valid location. If a GPS fix hasn't been established yet, it will return null. The only reliable way to get an actual location is to use the LocationListener -interface. I see that you have defined a LocationListener, but aren't using it.
You need to modify your code so that it waits for the first call to onLocationChanged before you try to do anything with the location.
