Android Studio faces an issue on mac - android

While using Android Studio on mac, I came into this popup message.
Low disk space on a Android Studio system directory partition.
I really can't figure out what this message is actually talking about. Please give me some guidance and that will be very much appreciated.

JAVA jdk and all sdk related file it May consume most of its disk space
Re-install Android Studio on a larger partition and it may solve your problem.

Can we install two different android studio versions in same windows machine? [duplicate]

I only have one machine (Mac OS 10.9.5). I currently have the canary version of Android Studio and I ran into some bug. So I want to install the stable version of Android Studio as well. Has anyone done that? Is there any issue with more than one version installed on the same machine?
Yes, but you have to alter the settings of one of the installations to point it to a different settings and cache folders.
After an install, but before the first run, change the location of those folders according to this document.
You may want to list this as an OSX question. Since I'm not currently on my Mac I can't confirm, but it wouldn't hurt to download it and see. You'd be ask to confirm any installation before it happens. A lot of Max .dmg files can run the application in a self contained container without ever installing it. If it launches a GUI that has you drag the Software over to the App folder you can sometimes just launch the app as is. If it has to install it you could always move the existing Android Studio to another location and name and then install the new one (This would require looking up on OSX how to do that)
In general, you can.
But beware that there are cache folders under ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/AndroidStudioBeta (or ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/AndroidStudioPreview for the real old versions) and ~/Library/Caches/AndroidStudioBeta that will be shared between all "installations". So if your bug is related to something inside that folder (e.g a plugin) then you'll have a problem ;-)
You shouldn't use both versions at the same time, though.

Android Studio hangs at fetching documentation

Recently I experienced that Android Studio is hanging a lot. Right in the middle of typing in any editor it will hang and block me from doing anything else for a couple of seconds. Restarting or killing adb wouldn't help.
After a while I realized that this happens if the documentation is being loaded and displayed. This happens mostly for Android documentation, which is quite verbose and also seems to contain images and formatting.
I already tried switching off the Auto-update from source option, but that doesn't change anything.
Any ideas what could cause Android Studio to block while it's loading or displaying (or doing whatever with) the documentation?
I'm using Android Studio 2.1.1, the latest build with the security fix.
you can check this solution: https://stackoverflow.com/a/26149069/2133585
Here's what fixed it for me:
Make sure you have the Documentation package downloaded in SDK Manager.
Exit Studio if it's running.
Delete the file named "jdk.table.xml" located in ~/.AndroidStudioX.Y/config/options/ (remember to take a backup
first!).
Relaunch Android Studio. should work correctly now and it should regenerate the file automatically.
Note:
This worked for me on Ubuntu 14.04 & Android Studio 0.8.11 (EDIT: Several users are reporting this solution also works for
newer versions of Android Studio).
If it still doesn't work, try deleting and re-downloading the Documentation package from inside Android SDK Manager then try the
above steps.
If you're running Windows, the file is located at "%UserProfile%.AndroidStudio\config\options", and if you're running
OS X, it's located at "~/Library/Preferences/AndroidStudio/options"
(credits to #Gero and #Alex Lipov).
Fix still works for AS 2.2.3 and MacOS 10.12.2 Sierra

Android Studio freezes after updating to 2.0

I have just updated my Android Studio from 1.4 to 2.0, on startup it freezes on splash-screen. is it possible to fix it or i have to download it again?
Its very strange. I have also updated to 2.0 in my MAC, Ubuntu and Windows 10. I didn't feel any issues till now in any of these.
Please note that 2.0 is still a preview. You may have to wait till Google releases the stable version.
Which operating system are you using?
For Windows, check the log of
C:\Users\<Username>\.AndroidStudioPreview2.0\system\log\idea.log
and paste here the last relevant entries on the bottom with a recent timestamp, containing an error message or indication of a possible freeze.
Also, check that you don't have any Android Studio, IntelliJ, or java-processes running before you start Android Studio.
This is an answer for my question, after trying many methods now it works fine.
This is how i resolved my problem by:
Updating Android SDK Tools and the latest SDK Platform
Removing the Android Studio cache folder situated in
C:\Users\<username>\.AndroidStudioPreview2.0
Running android studio again
At First Update Your Android SDK Tools (Support Repository )
Actually Android Studio creates a local directory . AndroidStudio to
cache its own data. In most environments, this is acceptable. However,
the size of the directory can easily exceed 300Mb and, if you have a
space constraint on your home drive (or a roaming profile in windows),
this may be better off in some other place.
The location of this directory is placed in an idea.properties file in the bin/ directory of your AS is installed.

How to Solve Low Disk Space for Android Studio?

I am getting this error randomly and not sure as to why my disk space is getting low for Android Studio..
Low disk space on a Android Studio system directory partition
Update
This Application is installed on a mac running 10.10.1 w/ 251GB internal storage and an OS restore Drive taking 10GB.
I think the problem is, once the application was installed it was placed on the smaller partition.
I will attempt to remove this application and all files associated to it, and reinstall. Hopefully this will solve the issue.
You can install studio and SDK separately into different partitions: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#Other
Or you can move your existing SDK folder anywhere and then just point studio to it in preferences.
Also consider that AVD files are actually stored in your system user folder (user/.android/avd on Windows, not sure where exactly on mac), not in SDK folder.
I had the same problem, I installed android studio a 128gb partition and togther with JAVA jdk and all sdk related file it consume most of its disk space. I re-install it on a larger partition and it solve my problem.
I was getting this error and restarting Android Studio and adding more memory did not help. At this point I noticed it was happening across all my emulators in android studio. It turns out that some of the files in the emulators could not be read because they have became corrupt. The simplest solution is usually the best answer so restarting my computer fixed it. Hope this saves someone time!
Android Studio with SDK Tools,JDK and AVD takes almost 30gb but I believe that it needs a little bit more to work properly.Everything bigger than 40gb it's Ok.It depends on the number of SDK's that you download. If you have 40gb of free disk space you will never have this message.Sometimes crashes or pop messages if you use it a lot of days without reboot your computer make a reboot and everything will be fine.
I just compressed the drive and there was 25GB of space available now. The problem vanished. Then when i shutted down my PC and restarted it the next day I got an error BOOTMGR compressed. SO i followed this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tnyhz-CRQU and fixed it and now I still have 25GB space available. It worked for me
Please open below mention path and delete you all avd's here.
C:\Users{Username}.android\avd
Sometimes, deleting emulator in android studio is not enough to reduce all the spaces grab by these emulator's. So deleting these emulator's from above mention path.
You can click on your SDK manager then navigate to Appearance settings > systems settings > Android SDK. From here just click on optimize disk space on the top right corner of your window. I was able to clear about 15gb then it worked smoothly.
I had a same problem and I solved by deleting some unwanted files from my disk.
Reason - The disk space is low which u have android SDK and android studio file.
solution - Delect some files from your disk which has your android sdk and studio.
If you have facing the issue in low disk space in android studio, just delete the unwanted emulator in your AVD manager.I wasted the whole to try other things.it help full to any one.it working for me.
It worked only after restarting my MacBook 🤷‍♂️
