When I open Android Studio I get the following errors:
On Clicking File > New > Project the following screen comes up:
This, as opposed to this:
Anyone know why this is the case:
I tried reinstalling Android Studio, no luck.
Then I tried reinstalling Android Studio, SDK and HAXM, pretty much everything I could uninstall, I tried opening new project from welcome screen... still no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Click "Enable Android support" in the first picture.
Go to File>Invalidate caches/restart>Invalidate and restart.
If your problem is not resolved, try clicking on "Enable Android support".
If your problem is not resolved, try going to Android SDK Manager and install:
Extras/Google Repository
Extras/Android Support Repository
Restart Android Studio when install finish.
If your problem persists and you are not going to use these plugins, click on "Disable not loaded plugins".
I hope this will help you.

I'm very new to Android development and have never used Android Studio before. I set it up, got my app working on my phone and left it alone for a few weeks. Upon returning, I could not find the Android Studio executable on my computer, so I reinstalled it and restarted on the same project.
Not sure if this has to do with the AVD Manager button being grayed out. Things I have tried:
Making sure my SDK path is correct
Running Android Studio as administrator
Launching the AVD Manager executable from windows. I can create a virtual device but doesn't affect disabled AVD Manager button when restarting Android Studio.
Installing Intel X86 Atom System Image and Google APIs in SDK Manager, under API 24.Everything under API 25 is installed.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
This generally happens when Android Studio is not able identify the android sdk installation in the machine. This could happen if Android Studio is launched in non-Administrator mode.
Just close and relaunch Android Studio in administrator mode. You will see a saying "android framework is identified" Click on the configure link on that notification. The AndroidStudio will start configuring the android sdk. After some time the buttons would be visible and enabled.
If you tried running the Android Studio in administrator mode and it still do not work for you try the following way.
Delete the .idea folder in the project
Re open the project from going to File->Open Recent->
Then you will be asked to convert the project
Click convert
For anyone seeing this problem following the React Native tutorial make sure to click the "Configure" button in the Event Log next to the log text that reads "Frameworks detected: Android framework is detected in the project"
This action seems to be what configures the project to be an Android project.
I'v solved this issue by updating gradle.
It is simple
The only thing that worked for me was that I clicked in Androidstudio in the top right on SDK Managar.
And there under android sdk it was so that there was no path entered. and it was also so that NO Check box was checked below.
So I had to first click in the top right on Edit thereby was written to me the path pure.
After that I had to select a chack box below it no matter whiche and sometimes it must then just install something. When it has finished installing click OK. It may be that you then have to close and open android studio again.
I was having this issue on a new machine running MacOS High Sierra.
After installing Android Studio and the most recent SDK/
SDK Tools, I was unable to create any AVD from Android Studio (button greyed out, no option under Tools) or run the AVD Manager any other way.
I tried the same things the OP had done, then noticed I was getting the following error: Gradle sync failed: Failed to find Build Tools revision 26.0.2
From the Event Log I followed a link to download the Build tools and now it works!
If you are working on Flutter, Follow the steps:
Open Settings in Android Studio (CTRLALTS)
Search Flutter
Check may path of Flutter SDK is not available.
Set the path and press OK.
Done! Thank you
I tried the answers here, but the only solution for me was to restart my machine and it fixed itself. It happened after upgrading AS (from 4.0.2 to 4.2.2)
in android studio or intellij program:
goto tools > android > SDK manager
click on Edit (android SDK location)
click next and next
close dialog
its ok.
It shows that I've already installed the Android SDK but I can't find it.:<
Tried in terminal to see what's in the folder but find nothing, this location is empty. Why the app tell me that I've installed it? How can I solve this problem? Thank you!!
I would say that you reinstall Android Studio after checking the SDK Manager at first. The SDK Path may also be corrupted, so check that.
For me it was two issues, proxy settings although tested okay was not connecting to display the list of available SDKs. Also launching Android Studio using "Run as administrator" was also required.
I had exactly the same issue and I came across this post but then before implementing the suggested solutions, I decided to first restart my AndroidStudio, on restart it gave me the option to download SDK and after that, it worked perfectly well.
I have fixed it by downloading the Android SDK from IntelliJ rather than Android Studio.
Then restart Android Studio, It detects the installed version.
Background to problem and how it all started:
I suddenly and without warning had errors related to plugins. Specifically, firebase services and firebase testing plugins not enabled. Result, could not open my project.
After lengthy research and struggle I was finally able to enable these plugins (along with others)through a miracle and opened my project BUT a new problem has now emerged.
Now the run app button for the emulator is greyed out. If i try to go to the top and click on: RUN APP ==> the "run green" button is also greyed out here (along with "debug" and "Run with coverage".
When I open a recent project in Android Studio in a new window the emulator run button is visible and I can open the Emulator without any problems. It's only suddenly this one project. It's been working just fine until now.
I updated Android Studio just prior to this as it requested it. I am using Android Studio 2.2.1.
Any suggestions highly appreciated, thanks in advance
For anyone else that has this problem the solution is found on Youtube at below link. Thanks to the uploader of this video. Saved my day!

Its weird but it worked.
Just deselect and select again those two plugins .
Click Ok.
It will prompt for restart. Click Restart.
It works!
I have a problem with my Android studio 2. That's whenever I want to clean or rebuild my android project, I always get this message
Error:Execution failed for task ':app:clean'.
Unable to delete directory: C:\Users\MyPC\Desktop\SharePlace\app\build\intermediates
and can not fix it. what I only can do is go to File explorer and delete it.
then come back android studio and rebuild again. Sometime, that way also does not work.
I need some help to fix that Android studio. Please.
Thank inadvance!
Solution 1 :
you are using Android Studio 2.0 Beta, this issue might appear (more likely if you are working on NTFS filesystem) and it seems like the "Instant Run" is the culprit. Search for "Instant Run" in settings and uncheck the box.
I have filed an issue on the bug tracker.
Solution 2 :
You need to go to the source file directly. Close the studio and go to the path the issue is located at and delete the folder there.
I got a lot of faults like this.
Try to refresh all gradle projects: in Android Studio click on the "Gradle" tab on the right side of the window. When the gradle menu is shown, click on two blue mixed arrows icon. Then wait a moment until gradle completes refreshing and try cleaning or rebuilding again.
For me it was fixed by running Android Studio as administrator.
Manually deleted folder( build\generated and build\intermediates) after closing android studio works for me.
Found the solution. For windows, goto Task Manager and find your Android Studio. Expand it and end task for OpenJDK Platform Binary as depicted below
screenshot.
Then re-run your app in Android Studio again. It should work, and you don't have to restart your Android Studio all the time. More productivity~
I just install of Fedora 17. I'm using Eclipse 4.2.1. I have follow a 'My First App' tutorial. A simple "Hello World" and I can't even get it to run. I have 'Install New Software' a dozen times. It just doesn't show up. No video or tutorial I've seen shows me how to make sure everything is up and functioning correctly and how to fix it if its not. It just says "install this, click, click, click, then go to Windows > AVD Manager." Its not there. This is very frustrating. How can I make an app if I can't even get it to run.
Go to
Eclipse->window -> customize Perspective -> Command Groups Availability -> tick the Android SDK and AVD manager.
now you can go and see
Eclipse->window -> AVD Manager
First of all check that your path to android SDK is correct in
Window-> preferences ->Android ->SDK Location.
if it is correct then do follow steps to set them to toolbar.
you can view it from here.just do this
Eclipse->window -> customize Perspective -> Toolbar Visibility -> tick the Android SDK and AVD manager.
you are done.
and if it also doesn't help you anymore then you have to reinstall the SDK.
hope it will help.
I ran into this problem too. After updating to Juno, Android was no where to be found in the preferences nor in File -> New -> Project... nor the Android SDK Manager under Window.
The solution to this was actually that I had an incompatible version of java running, though no error anywhere told me this. After hours of research, I:
upgraded my JDK to version 7,
restarted Eclipse,
and everything was working again.
Perhaps it is a little bit late for this answer, but i have had this problem with Mac and after searching and testing a lot of solutions what i had to do is remove my workspace folder.
After that everything has worked as expected.
I hope this will help someone.
