How to use Library from GitHub in android App - android

I downloaded this library to use in my app, however, I can't get Android Studio to do the gradle build now. Anytime I try, I get "error:configuration with name 'default' not found". I've tried several other StackOverflow answers, but I still can't compile.
My dependencies (from build.gradle Module: app)
dependencies {
compile fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:22.1.1'
compile 'com.android.support:support-v4:22.1.1'
compile project(":aFileDialog")
}
My settings.gradle:
include ':app'
include ':aFileDialog'
I have the library file in the root under "aFileDialog"
How can I get this to build with the library?

You have add path to your aFileDialog library in your settings.gradle
Make sure that folder you point to includes build.gradle file
include ':app'
include ':aFileDialog'
project(':aFileDialog').projectDir = new File(settingsDir, 'aFileDialog')
or (judging from the library folder structure on GitHub)
project(':aFileDialog').projectDir = new File(settingsDir, 'aFileDialog/library')

I found a tutorial that worked: http://www.theappguruz.com/tutorial/library-project-module-as-dependency-in-android-studio/
In addition to the instructions given, I had to add the following line to my Manifest:
tools:replace = "icon, label"

Android .aar dependencies aren’t resolving in app project that depends on .aar

i have created an android library AAR in android studio 2.1.3 in which i use the following dependencies:
compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-vision:9.4.0+'
compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-wearable:9.4.0+'
compile 'pl.droidsonroids.gif:android-gif-drawable:1.2.3'
now i am using this aar in an application but those dependencies were failing unless i add them to the dependencies of the new app.
i search here and i found that i need to add the following line:
compile (project(':LIBNAME-release')) {transitive = true}
but this didn't work. is there something i missed? or is it related to the obfuscation i did to the aar file? or is it a must to add these dependencies to the app?
Try to compile you project first:
dependencies {
compile project(':Name-Of-Your-Project')
}
This is Ashton Engberg's suggestion from that post

Error: more than one library with package name 'com.github.xinthink.rnmk'

Building an app for Android with React-Native fails with this error
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
* What went wrong:
Execution failed for task ':app:processDebugResources'.
> Error: more than one library with package name 'com.github.xinthink.rnmk'
This seems to be caused by react-native-material-kit (RNMK). but searching all the project files in Sublime Text, I couldn't find any duplication of 'com.github.xinthink.rnmk'.
For reference, the iOS version of the app runs fine.
Edit
This is my settings.gradle file:
rootProject.name = 'myAppName'
include ':app'
include ':react-native-vector-icons'
project(':react-native-vector-icons').projectDir = new File(rootProject.projectDir, '../node_modules/react-native-vector-icons/android')
include ':react-native-material-kit'
project(':react-native-material-kit').projectDir = new File(rootProject.projectDir, '../node_modules/react-native-material-kit/android')
include ':RNMaterialKit'
project(':RNMaterialKit').projectDir = file('../node_modules/react-native-material-kit/android')
And these are the dependencies from build.gradle:
dependencies {
compile project(':react-native-vector-icons')
compile project(':react-native-material-kit')
compile fileTree(dir: "libs", include: ["*.jar"])
compile "com.android.support:appcompat-v7:23.0.1"
compile "com.facebook.react:react-native:+" // From node_modules
compile project(':RNMaterialKit')
}
When I comment out 'compile project(':RNMaterialKit')' from the dependencies (the last line), The App builds and starts fine. However, doing so probably breaks react-native-material-kit, that uses that package.
Sorry i can't put a comment yet. I think the problem is that you use more than one this library, in your settings.gradle and in your build.gradle.
So go to your build.gradle and delete compile "com.facebook.react:react-native:+". Hope it
works.
I had the same problem,
from what I identified, the problem was I installed this package manually and then, it was added a second time with rnpm when using command :
rnpm link
I just ended up deleting one of the two entries, both in settings.gradle and app/build.gradle and that did the trick.

Android Studio - MavenCentral dependency sync ok, but symbol cannot be resolved

So, I managed to create an Android library component and publish it on Maven Central. But when I'm trying to use it as a dependency in a new project, Android Studio can't seem to find the classes.
build.gradle for the app module:
repositories {
mavenCentral()
}
dependencies {
compile fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:21.0.3'
compile 'no.hyper:libdateintervalpicker:1.0.0' //this is the one I want to use
}
This part seems to work, at least I get no sync errors. However, when trying to access to package and classes from my MainActivity, Android Studio can't find them and gives me "cannot resolve symbol" message.
I have tried downloading the classes.jar from the archive directly from Maven Central, and they are indeed in the package.
Other dependencies seem to appear in the /build/intermediates/exploded-aar folder after syncing, but that does not happen to my library.
I use Android Studio 1.0.2 on OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks)
Any suggestions?
Looking in your pom, it states <packaging>aar.asc</packaging>. It should be aar instead.
Oh, and the answer to actually being able to use the library, was to add #aar to the dependency so that it now reads
dependencies {
compile fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:21.0.3'
compile 'no.hyper:libdateintervalpicker:1.0.0#aar' //note the magic #aar
}
Edit:
Removing the block
configurations {
archives {
extendsFrom configurations.default
}
}
makes Gradle generate the pom with the correct packaging entry, and thus makes it possible to reference the dependency without the #aar suffix

Can't add External Library in Android Studio?

I Added a External Library to my project by following
this method. and tried this method too this method too.
Gradle build got Finished and i got this line added to my build.gradle
compile 'com.github.castorflex.smoothprogressbar:library-circular:1.0.1'
Now i am trying to import this library in my class. But i can't do this. I took a look at the files and they are located in the build directory under the exploded-aar. so i added #aar to the compile line. Still there are no changes.
How can i import this library to my class or where i am going wrong?
Thanks in Advance
Well, you don't need to download anything or point your dependency to a file.
This dependency, as most of the dependencies you use, can automatically fetched from JCenter, biggest repository for Java and Android components.
All you need to do is:
Add JCenter as your dependencies repository.
Declare that you need the library-circular dependency. This can be found and copy/pasted from the file icon in particular package/version in JCenter.
Resync your Android Studio project with your Gradle build file. This is the 'sync' button in Gradle pane in Android Studio.
Here's what your build.gradle should include:
repositories {
jcenter()
}
dependencies {
compile(group: 'com.github.castorflex.smoothprogressbar', name: 'library-circular', version: '1.0.1', ext: 'aar')
}
in build. gradle put following code
dependencies {
compile fileTree (dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
}
Did you add the dependencies?
You can do so in the following way -
dependencies {
compile files('insert ParentFolder/external_library_name with the extension here')
}
Add it to build.gradle based in the app folder
1.Put the jar file into the libs folder.
2.Right click it and hit 'Add as library'.
3.Ensure that compile files('libs/abcdef.jar') is in your build.gradle file and Finally add the dependencies.
Eg.
dependencies {
compile fileTree(dir: '../jar', include: '*.jar')
compile project(':pull-to-refresh')
compile files('libraries/abcdef.jar')
}
Hope this helps :)

error: package com.facebook.android does not exist in android studio project

I am new to android studio.I am developing an app which uses Facebook SDK.I have downloaded Facebbok SDK and imported it as a module to my android project.I am using latest version of android studio.So I simply imported it and did not make any change in other files for this.First I am trying to use facebook login functionality.But when I build the app I am getting following error.
error: package com.facebook.android does not exist
I could see one solution as an answer to someone's question. But i could not understand it.Please somebody help me.
check you build.gradle
it should got this dependency
if you got library project:
dependencies {
compile project(':facebook');
}
if you got jar files in libs folder:
dependencies {
compile fileTree(include: ['*.jar'], dir: 'libs')
}
or just add maven central dependency to:
dependencies {
compile 'com.github.asne.facebook:facebook:3.17.2'
}
You need to add dependencies on your gradle file :-
compile 'com.facebook.android:facebook-android-sdk:4.1.0'
above is path you need to add dependencies {} like below :-
dependencies {
compile fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:22.0.0'
compile 'com.facebook.android:facebook-android-sdk:4.1.0'
}
Is the facebook library is jar file or library project?
If is jar file, you just need to add jar file in libs folder and dependencies {
compile fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: '*.jar')
} in build.gradle.
If is library project, you should modify your setting.gradle and build.gradle files.
Adding this line of code to the dependencies in the build.gradle file helped me get rid of the same error.
dependencies {
...
compile 'com.facebook.android:facebook-android-sdk:4.0.0'
}
