I want my drawer to open from the left below the tool bar. But, according to Material Design aspects that's not good. But still I want to do that.
Here I have changed my XML file.

I have created New XML file main_activity_appbar and added tool bar first and in same layout file I added my Drawer Layout. and in mainAcitity.java file I changed layout of that file.

i've been struggling to make my navigation drawer appear below the action bar. I know it may not be according to design guidelines.
I have visited several other threads about the subject (example: Navigation drawer below Actionbar), which didn't solve my problem.
After lots and lots of tinkering, i didn't get further. Please help with this problem.

Developing a heritage tracking application !
I need to have a Navigation Drawer on the left and another Navigation Drawer with Checkbox.
The Left side Drawer is generated using the Android Studio and the right side code I have implemented.
Only one of them is getting displayed. How do i get the Navigation View on the right and Fragment Drawer on the left.

If your app_bar_main is an AppBarLayout or Toolbar, then I would assume that:
You don't want it filling up the entire screen.
You don't want it being treated as the main content of the DrawerLayout.
On that note, try this:

I am working on an app where I am using the NavigationDrawerActivity.
When I tap on the hamburger icon, the navigation drawer slides in. But it covers the animation from hamburger to arrow.
Is there anyway I can use my NavigationDrawer below the actionbar instead of over the actionbar.

Notice that minHeight disallows smaller sizes, and the wrap_content height now allows bigger toolbars.

You should move DrawerLayout as top parent and move Toolbar out of DrawerLayout content container.

However, Material Design guidelines state that Navigation Drawer should be above the Toolbar.
You should simply add
android:layout_marginTop="#dimen/abc_action_bar_default_height_material"
to your layout which you are using as drawer.
This will automatically adjust the navigation drawer below the toolbar and also supports different screen sizes.
You can add layout_marginTop like this,

If you create a project as a Navigation Drawer project(Navigation Drawer Activity) it will give you four XML files at the creation in your layout folder

navigatin_main

how these xmls are linked? mostly i see include tag is used
Your Activity is linked with activity_main
activity_main has the app_bar_main and navigation_view(drawer)
app_bar_main has the toolbar and content_main by default
now lets remove activity_main and set its contents directly to app bar main and use it as the main layout for Activity.
To add the drawer under tool bar
add it under the android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout because is contains the toolbar and its should be on top.

p.s you can set app_bar_main.XML to setContentView of your activity

An Easy and Good solution is set fitsSystemWindows=false for
android.support.v4.widget.DrawerLayout
that has id as
android:id="#+id/drawer_layout"
And for navigationView set layout_marginTop as ?attr/actionBarSize that would get the actionbar size and set it as margin
