I follow this https://developer.android.com/training/implementing-navigation/nav-drawer.html and can show drawer layout. But my drawer layout has just one view (layout)
I would like drawer layout can show 2 (or many) views (layouts) at many the different contexts. All views (layouts)is left side.
Example: At Activity A: drawer layout show view (layout) A.
At Activity B: drawer layout show view (layout) B.

My app consists of multiple activities, they all have a common layout in the sense that they are drawer layout, have a tool bar, but they have different main content. Specifically, their complete layouts are as follows

Since the shared components are defined at "parent level", I'm not sure how to structure these layouts so that the generic layout is only defined once. Is it possible to achieve that? Thanks.
Two options:
1. ViewStub
Define the main layout with a ViewStub where you will have different sub-layouts.
A ViewStub is an invisible, zero-sized View that can be used to lazily
inflate layout resources at runtime. When a ViewStub is made visible,
or when inflate() is invoked, the layout resource is inflated. The
ViewStub then replaces itself in its parent with the inflated View or
Views.
In each Activity you set the same layout and then inflate the specific sub-layout onto the ViewStub.
2. Fragments
If you want to avoid having massive quantities of code on a single Activity you might want to think about using Fragments.

Yes it is possible by using Fragment. For this structure first you need to define a FrameLayout in your activity_main.xml . This framelayout will be replaced by the contents of the fragments over the time.

Then you can create your layouts as you want and classes as those extends Fragment . Set these new layouts as contentView of Fragment classes. Now these fragments can replace that FrameLayout of activity_main. Suppose we have a Framgent class name First_Fragment.Java then we can show that fragment by replacing activity_main framelayout by below code
FragmentManager fragmentManager = getSupportFragmentManager();
FragmentTransaction fragmentTransaction = fragmentManager.beginTransaction();

My drawerLayout is intercepting all touch events. I need help figuring out how to click on elements below it. Here is how my drawerLayout is set up

I have added android:clickable="false" and android:focusable="false" in the xml on the drawer. Programmatically I logged the clicks, and it is the actual drawer with id "drawer_layout" intercepting all clicks. Making it unclickable does not work, it is still clickable. I also tried setting the visibility to INVISIBLE and GONE and these are not viable solutions either.
How can I make that drawerLayout allow clicks through it to elements beneath it? Thanks in advance!
By setting clickable and focusable to false, I think you are disabling click to the views in the layout too. Remove these options from the drawer layout.
Try setting android:clickable="true" and android:focusable="true" for the container inside the drawer layout.
I figured this out. I ended up adding my main layout to the drawer which is the reverse of what I was doing before because before I was adding the drawer to my main layout. So the change I made was

If anyone else runs into this problem it is view hierarchy conflict. You cannot have your drawer on top of elements that you want to interact it. If you have buttons or other widgets that you need to interact it you should include it to your drawer layout instead. I hope this helps someone else out there.
I am currently working on an android project and I am trying to make use of fragments. I've got it mostly working, however, I can't get the layout right.
In the layout there should be a slide in navigation drawer from the left and a slide in navigation drawer from the right.
At the top of the activity there should be a fragment and underneath that another fragment. The top fragment being smaller than the below fragment.
Even though I have set the height for the fragment it is taking up the whole screen and both fragments are overlapping below. Below is an image which should hopefully highlight what I am trying to achieve.

Your drawer layout should be the outermost parent. You should then have a layout with matchparent height and width that you can use to contain your inner UI fragments. The 2nd and 3rd layouts should be your slide in drawers with the relevant left and right layout_gravity set.
In summary, an outer drawer that contains 3 inner layouts.

But AFAIK, there can be only one view in the main contentview of drawerLayout. So how can achieve this?
Anything you put inside the FrameLayout will be in the main content view.
You can put whatever you want (including multiple Fragments) inside this FrameLayout:

So I can add and replace fragment on navigation drawer item click. Everything okay till now.
But in one case, on clicking an item on navigation drawer I need to show two fragments instead of one ( just like a listFragment and details fragment ). How can I do it? Should I add two fragments into the framelayout then? But how? or should I change the contentView with different drawerLayout ? If yes, how can I do this?
You may just use nested fragments. Create another fragment that will dynamically create both your fragments and add them to its layout.
