I just got the LG G4 phone, turned on developer options mode, tried running an app from Android Studio but it can't recognise my phone. I even tried switching from MTP to PTP but still it's not recognised. I tried a lot of resources out there, still nothing. Please can anyone help?
So i restarted my device, and switched USB options from MTP to PTP. and for some reason it worked. I dont know why. Thanks for answers above, much appreciated
Had the same problem and tried everything mentioned above with no success. What ended up working for me was downloading the LG Android USB device Drivers which can be found here: http://www.mylgphones.com/lg-android-usb-device-drivers
The latest drivers didn't work for me so I downloaded the second latest and voila! It worked! Hope this helps.
None of the answers here worked for me until I turned on USB debugging mode in Developer Options.
For completeness, the steps are:
Go to Settings > About phone > Software info
Tap "Build number" 7 times until it says that you're a developer
Go back to Settings, and tap on the new "Developer options" item (second last in the menu)
Enable "USB debugging"
Plug in your phone
Change from MTP to PTP mode
Allow the computer to access your phone (there should be two messages - one of them should be for the RSA key fingerprint)
And that should do it. Run adb devices and you should see the phone.
switched USB options from MTP to PTP. when you try to switch it will ask to install drivers then clicked on Install ....now you can debug your app on device
Check your phone, it will ask to install driver on PC. Afterwards android studio will see your phone
Here's what I had to do:
Install the LG Mobile Drivers: http://lg.com/us/lgeai/drivers (latest at the time of writing: here)
Disable USB debugging if currently enabled (this was key for me)
Enable USB debugging
Plug into computer
Allow USB debugging when prompted (will show RSA fingerprint, check "always allow").
Trust the computer when prompted (allow access)
Switch to PTP
Install USB driver when prompted
Wait for the driver to finish installing on your PC
adb devices should show your phone now. If you don't get some of the prompts above, try unplugging and re-plugging your device. Also try different USB ports on your machine.
I had same problem. I was checking Developer Options after plugging USB cable, the USB Debugging option was unchecked and grayed out while cable plugged. I unplugged USB cable, checked USB Debugging option and plugged USB cable again, it worked.
I had the same problem with an LGL58VL test handset. Other (non-LG) handsets worked without problem. Installing the Google USB driver didn't help (Windows said "installed driver (LGE Android Net MTP Device) is already up to date".
Here's what worked for me
WINDOWS: Download and install LG driver on Windows:
http://lg.com/us/lgeai/drivers
HANDSET: Enable developer mode:
Settings > Software Info > Tab "Build number" 7 times
HANDSET:
Settings > Developer options >
Enable USB debugging => YES
Select USB Configuration => MTP
WINDOWS:
Plug in handset. "Action" => Nothing
HANDSET: Accept RSA key
WINDOWS: Android Studio > Tools > Connection Assistant >
Verify handset device is listed and available for debugging
ALSO: sometimes, after I enabled other test devices, the "Enable USB Debugging" option for the handset became grayed out.
WORKAROUND (Handset):
Settings > Developer Options >
Turn Developer Options OFF (slider at the top)
Turn Developer Options back ON
I was now able to hold down "USB Debugging" and slide it back to "ON"
You have to activate developer mode for your device.
Try tap "adb devices" in shell window( or command window)
1) if still nothing displayed, it must be not related to studio, please check whether drivers is properly installed or register in system(Different system has different methods).
2) if displayed like "0b63d5xxxxxxxxxx device", it should be studio's problem, check view option or reinstall android studio.

I want to use Samsung Note Pro for debugging on Windows with Xamarin.Forms,I installed Samsung USB Drivers
from this address and turned on developer mode
but still not work. When I call adb devices my device didn't appear in the list.
(As #Sreeraj's answer stated, installing Kia solves a lot of driver issues under Windows)
Once Developer Mode is enabled:
There is also a separate “Developers Options” section. The difference now is before you get to enable the USB debugging option, you must first enable or turn on “Developer Mode”
Update:
but when I call it gets the device as "unauthorized"
1) To allow app installs from non-Market apps, tap the menu button on your home screen, then choose Settings >> Applications >> Unknown sources.
2) Can't connect Nexus 4 to adb: unauthorized
I too had this problem once. Despite installing drivers from Samsung website, adb could not recognise my device. Then installing Samsung Kies software in my PC helped me. It may work.
After you enable Developer Mode you need to turn on USB Debugging before you connect the device with your PC.
You can also debug without connecting your device via wireless: How can I connect to Android with ADB over TCP?
When I try to "run" app via Android Studios, my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 doesnt pop up in the list. However, it does show up in my PC file explorer.
Things I've done;
-tried to install both Xiaomi's own usb drivers and Google's usb drivers, with the same result; "No newer drivers are available"
-enabled usb debugging, makes no different
-switching between PTP and MTP mode
Could anyone help me?
=> For Enabling to developer Mode In Redmi Note 3 :
1: Go to Setting.
2: Click to "About phone" option.
3: Press 7 times to "MIUI version" option.
now you will see a Toast message "now you are developer".
=> Now you should install to Mi PC Suite from this .
1: Install the pc suite with connected your redmi.
2: Now go on Permission in setting and click "install via USB".
=>For Enabling USB Debugging :
1: Open Settings > Additional settings > Developer options.
2: Firstly enable to developer options then go below and find USB Debugging and enable it.
3: When your pc suite open then again repeat disable and enable to USB Debugging
For Redmi 4a also follow :
Open Settings > Additional settings > Developer options > Select USB Configuration > MTP.
I am not sure if you are always looking for a solution. However, I had the same problem, and to fix it, just try the following steps (it works for me):
Go to Settings > Additional settings > Developer options
Disable the "Turn on MUI optimization"
Reboot your phone
It should work after rebooting your device.
Good luck
Xiaomi interface has a lot of "locks".
To use your Xiaomi device to test your apps you need to:
enable developer mode:
Settings > About Phone > MIUI version.
Tap the MIUI version message until you receive a message telling you that you are a developer.
enable usb debugging (inside the developer menu).
enable fast-booting (I don't know if this one is necessary).
install the Mi PC Suite.
Use a USB port from behind of your computer.
allow third party's apps on your device.
Go To Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options
Now Enable these options
USB Debugging
Install Via USB
Select USB Configuration to MIDI
Go to Settings
Go to Additional settings
Go to Developer options
Disable the "Turn on MUI optimization"
Reboot your phone
It will work
I Found this answer on Quora
(Worked like a Charm in my case , tried other methods previously but they didn't work for me)
COMPILATION OF ALL POSSIBLE STEPS.TRUST ME IT WORKS!
I would like to improve this answer. Once you have enabled being a developer
1.Settings->About Phone->MIUI version .Click on it for seven times.
2.Go to Additional settings->Developer Options. Now you will have to enable two options in this.
a.USB debugging
IN developer options,Scroll to the end to find TURN OFF MIUI OPTIMIZATION.And you may need to reboot your phone.(no issues, nothing will happen).
And if it says you have temporary issues, disable Wi-Fi and enable your mobile network.Even then if it does not allow,
3.Settings->under APP SETTINGS section->Permissions.
Click on the top right corner and slide over the option INSTALL VIA USB.
Now don't forget to go back to Settings->Developer Options->Install via USB(enable).
When all these steps are done together, it works perfectly else,
In your android studio,
Go to FILE->SETTINGS->BUILD,EXECUTION,DEVELOPMENT.Under this, uncheck enable instant run.
I've been trying to look for the possible answers for almost a year now on my MI note 4.And it finally worked today.Happy to share.Enjoy.
For Xiaomi Redmi 6, in Developer options do the following:
Enable USB debugging
Enable Install via USB
Disable Turn on MIUI optimization
On Select USB configuration select MIDI (this is what solved the problem for me)
Also, take a look at this question: ADB is not recognizing my Redmi Note device
I bumped into the same issue
Run below on terminal to find your VENDOR ID;
lsusb
This will display information about USB buses in the system and the devices connected to them. Then, find your phones vendor id (it will be probably without any company names) and type,
sudo gedit ~/.android/adb_usb.ini
and your adb_usb.ini file should look like:
# ANDROID 3RD PARTY USB VENDOR ID LIST -- DO NOT EDIT.
# USE 'android update adb' TO GENERATE.
# 1 USB VENDOR ID PER LINE.
# ie 0x2207
0x<!!!Your Vendor ID here!!!>
Disconnected and reconnected device and also needed to run below commands on terminal;
sudo adb kill-server && adb start-server
And the device was detected.
I solved a problem with connection of Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro (I hope problem is common for Note 3 too) to Android Studio.
I did next steps:
First of all enable Developer Mode. I won't dublicate how to do it, as it was described here many times.
To solve problem with ADB Interface driver, I've installed Mi PC Suite - MiSetup3.2.1.3111_2717 (link to download)
As output from adb devices command still shown me empty list of connected devices, I tried to use original USB cabel which came with my phone instead of some Xiaomi's USB cabel bougth earlier, and it helps! Phone successfully connected to Android Studio and I installed my test apps!
Hope it will help you guys too.
MI Devices developer mode enable option is quite different. Please refer the below screenshots for the detailed understanding.
In the MI Devices developer mode options stays inside the Additional Setting
Just
goto Additional Settings > Developer Option > there at the bottom just turn off MIUI optimization.
Then
Enable:
USB debugging
Install via USB
USB debugging (Security settings)
Worked for me.
cheers
In some rare cases, the problem is windows "Administrative Templates"
My Xiaomi redmi 2 can't connect with Android Studio although I've done Everything That people say above.
But in my Case I found a solution :
put gpedit.msc in windows command
go to "Administrative Templates" -> "System" -> "Removable Storage Access"
Disable:
-Removable Disk: Deny execute access
-Removable Disk: Deny read access
-Removable Disk: Deny write access
-All Removable Storage classes: Deny all access
Plug on your device
Run app
Don't worry dude .....
first turn on USB debugging...
then Turn on Install via USB...
just turn off your MIUI optimization ....
then it'll ask to restart...
restart your mobile and then it should work....
I hope this will help...
and it worked on my MI 3s prime
application installation failed message failed to establish session ....
Settings > About phone > keep tapping ‘ MIUI version ‘ until it says you’re a developer.
Settings > Additional settings > developer options> toggle ‘USB debugging'
Settings > Additional settings > Developer options> toggle ‘Install via USB'
TRY THIS ONE.THIS WILL WORK.
Update your MIUI version to 7.3.5.0 and you should install drivers in your pc.
Driver link
It seems that the ADB interface wasn't updated properly.
Try this: ADB is not recognizing my Android Device
or https://stackoverflow.com/a/31489453/7030003
This worked for me!
"Install via USB" wont work if your Xiaomi phone is running MIUI 8 or above. Looks like when you try to Enable this option, your phone trys to connect to some chinese server and fails.
I got a work around and it worked for me. Idea is to connect to Chinese-Shanghai server through VPN. Try the following:
Install PlexVPN from Playstore and login into it. You will a 24 hr free VPN service.
Select China-Shanghai server and connect.
From developer option in your Xiaomi phone, Enable "Install via USB".
You can then disconnect the VPN and logout from PlexVPN.
Enjoy!!
First, you have to make sure that you have DEVELOPER MODE on. To turn on,
Go to About phone
Tap the MIUI version until it shows the message that "You are now a developer."
When successful, you can now access developer options in Additional settings in the main Settings.
Go to developer options and enable USB debugging mode.
Secondly, to make sure it allows your phone to used via ADB. Download the necessary USB driver.
This can be done via Android Studio by going to SDK Manager --> Tools --> Google USB Drivers --> Install this.
To avoid the "INSTALLATION_CANCELLED_BY_USER" error, do this:
Go to the "Security" application and tap "Options" at top right corner.
Scroll down to "Feature Settings" group, and look for "Permissions"
At there switch off "Install via USB" option, which manages installation of the apps via USB and doesn't allow it.
On Latest Redmi Device,
Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options > Developer
options: Check the Install via USB option.
Once installed, you will be able to use your Xiaomi device for App Testing.
If nothing works then do these steps:
Turn on USB Debugging in Developer options.
Turn On USB Tethering too.
For USB Debugging go to:
Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging
For USB Tethering go to:
Settings > More > USB Tethering
Now it should work. Mine works.
Thankyou.
My Redmi Note 4 had a same issue but after installing HiSuite everything worked fine.
For Redmi 5 Plus : Make sure to also download and install the Mi Pc Suite.
100% your MI phone will be detected by android studio by using following steps
1) first you have to turn on developer mode
2) turn on usb debugging
3) Install MI ADB driver from below link you must to login first before downloading
https://c.mi.com/thread-1625831-1-1.html
4) Your phone will be shown in Android studio...Enjoy
For all the Mac Users
Just follow the instructions in one of the other answers, for example the answer from Bhunnu Baba.
Since Mi PC Suite isn't available for Mac, use an alternative software. I tried SyncMate and it worked like a charm. An important thing is that you also have to install the SyncMate App on your Xiaomi.
PS: I use a Xiaomi Redmi 9t
In my case, I'm using a Redmi 9, and it was not being monitored by USB in my Mac.
Solution: Settings > Developer Options > Standard USB Configuration > Select File Transfer
In a recent Xiaomi update, there are now twice USB-Debugging options available. In both version, USB-Debugging needs to be activated in order to connect successfully with Android Studio.
My LG G3 is not appearing in the device list for android studio. I'm on ASUS n550jk with Windows 10.
Things I have done:
USB Debugging Mode
Media sync(MTP)
Camera (PTP)
Google USB Drivers from Android SDK Manager
LG USB Drivers
Switching USB ports
Restarting PC
Nothing has worked. I got it to work a few months ago on Windows 8.1, but I can't remember what I did.
As on Android 6.0 device & Windows 10 this worked for me. Steps 1 & 2 before attaching phone to computer.
1) Activate developers settings (Settings -> General -> About phone -> Software info -> Press 7 times "Build number" button). After that it says "Now you are an developer".
2) Go back to General settings and press "Developer options". After that find option "USB debugging" and tick that box.
USB debugging
3) Attach phone to the computer via USB. Phone will ask "Allow this computer to access your phone data" "Allow". After that you should have "Tap for more USB options" -notification. Choose "Send images (PTP)"
Create "Hello World" -project as an test and try to to select deployment target again.
Make sure you enable developer options on your phone and check 'Enable USB Debugging'
On your Phone... Go to your settings: Go to "about phone" Tap on "Build Number" 7 times. This enables developer options Go to Developer options (in the settings app) Check - Enable USB Debugging
Did you make sure to install the adb drivers for your phone? Also make sure you have enabled debug mode on your device. If neither of those are the issue, maybe check here for further troubleshooting help.
When you connect your phone to your computer with Android studio running, you should see a dialog box asking for permission for your computer to debug your phone. Tap Yes and accept those permissions.
You should be set from there! Hit 'Run' in Android Studio and you should be good to go.
Hit me up on here if you have any further questions!
Switch USB PC connection from MTP to PTP
LG G3 requires you to 1) Activate developer's mode 2) Enable USB debugging BEFORE connecting your phone to the laptop 3) Accept the computer's RSA fingerprint when installing an apk from AndroidStudio and most importantly 4) Installing the phone on your computer.
Use this link and select your model. Without installing this software you will still be able to charge your phone and access its memory from your laptop but for it to appear as a device in Android Studio, install this.
I had a similar problem shortly after upgrading to MarshMallow. I had developer options on, but the "USB Debugging" option was disabled.
I had a problem with connection LG G4 phone with Android Studio, and try lots of combination like enabling developer mode, USB debugging, switching USB PC Connection from MTP to PTP and vise versa, restarting phone...But no csucces until I downloaded and installed Windows USB driver from this location http://www.lg.com/in/support/software-firmware and choose LG G4 Stylus. My phone is LG G4 Leather dual sim, but works with selection above.
you should go to settings->Common->Software info and click Build number 7 times in LG G3
Had the same problem with my LG G7, this page helped me solve it.
Essentially, what was missing, besides enabling USB Debugging, was enabling USB Tethering. For that:
Look for "tethering" in your settings search bar.
Enable it after clicking on the first option.
Now your LG G7 should appear as LM G710 (mobile) under your devices Android Studio dropdown menu. Select it as your current main device.
Run your main.dart with the play button (or flutter run on the terminal). It will also appear as an available device in VS Code if you prefer it as your IDE.
I want to use my Xperia S for debugging, so I followed the OEM USB Drivers instructions step by step but still not work, I didn't find "Android Composite ADB Interface" to update driver as it explained. and when I call adb devices my device didn't appear in the list.
I found out that you must put your phone in Mass Storage mode, as default is MTP mode. As simple as that ##! And I spent hours trying all sorts of things reading posts.
Settings / Xperia / USB Connectivity / USB Connection Mode and select MASS Storage, not MTP. I did uncheck Install PC Companion. It work right away. No need to Update drivers, no need to change the android_winusb.inf. You may need to kill adb.exe before trying again adb devices.
That was it for me :)
A couple of things to check:
Is USB debugging turned on (Settings->Developer options->USB debugging)?
Is it recognised as an ADB device? Check on Device Manager, mine is down as a Sony sa0103 ADB Interface Driver. If not, right click on it and re install drivers.
Were you ever able to connect to your Xperia S with adb? If not, you should try installing Sony PC Companion:
http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/
It should automatically detect your device and install the appropriate drivers.
Installing the PC companion fixed it for me too, it changed my drivers (on windows 7 x64). I tried lots of things before, including switch to mass storage (that might have helped also).
I have and Inew v3 phone and flashed a Sony Xperia E2115 Rom.
I'm using Android Studio to learning Android.
I use my phone to running the apps I do. But one day my phone wasn't detected on any pc I tried. With Windows 7, Ubuntu, ...
Looking for an answer, I finally found an answer:
Settings > Apps > All > MTP extension service > Clear data/cache > Force Stop > Restart the phone
The solution was to update the drivers using PC Companion. Before that I tested the following things:
1)I have the system running on Windows 8 and the problem has nothing to do with Mass Storage or MTP mode.
In the Control Panel> Device Manager> Other devices, I found that the
android driver was not found.
I tried the manual installation of drivers which did not work. I
checked the command line tool git bash to check if the android
device was connected using the command adb devices. It did not show any device.
2) After the update of the device software, PC companion showed the device is up to date. I did not completely update the device where PC Companion asked for the upgrade and phone contacts have to be backed up.
3) Now when I checked the Device manager again, it shows the drivers are correctly installed.
4) adb devices in git bash show the device number and name
adb debugging works then
I have A Sony Xperia Tipo. The drivers somehow did not work for me.
Have a look at
http://preetprasannan.wordpress.com/2013/07/13/install-adb-drivers-for-android-if-oem-drivers-not-working-not-present/
Of course you need to enable the USB Debugging in the Developer options in the Settings menu.
Open USB debugging, and May be your usb driver is not correct ,You can use wandoujia to install the driver on your windows, here is the download page: http://www.wandoujia.com/ It can help you find the driver. Have a try
I had the same problem and no matter what i did and how much I've searched the web for a solution, nothing helped! (all this of course on windows 8)
but the thing is..
i tried this procedure on windows 7, connected the device(both Sony Xperia S and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) then in the device manger i updated the driver then the andriod ADB interface appeared.
hope this helps!
I had terrible problems with my Xperia U and dis-ability of my PC (even the PC companion software) to see it. I tried many solutions posted on the web, nothing worked.
Finally I just switched the microUSB cable to another one I had and suddenly it works. I even uninstalled PC companion and other Sony bloatware and it is still working!
So not sure what that original microUSB cable is for (I bought my Xperia U as a second hand stuff, so not sure if in original package there are more micro USB cables), but for me it worked just for charging of the phone, no file transfer.
Go to Settings -> Xperia Connectivity -> Usb Connectivity -> Usb connection mode -> Check MTP mode.
Click Revoke USB debugging authorization in Developer option.
And try sudo adb devices.
I tried loads of things with no joy. Then I did a software update through the PC and it re-installed the drivers. Now it's working again, so try this if all else fails.
For Meizu MX5:
Connect to PC > Pull down notifications menu > Click Touch for other USB options > Choose Built-in CD-ROM > The device opens on windows > Go to F:\USB Reference Manual\EN\ADB_Reference_Manual.txt and follow the instructions.
For windows this is what the file says:
Create or modify the file C:\User\<Your username>\.android\adb_usb.ini. Add a line (with the content "0x2a45") to this file.
It worked for me.
Setting the USB mode isn't good enough. USB debugging must be enabled to allow adb to connect to the phone. This probably states the obvious but for me it took a while reading through these comments and wondering why adb doesn't connect. make sure your developer mode is active on the phone and "Developer Options" -> "USB debugging" is enabled.
Sony Xperia Z3:
Enable Settings > Developer options > USB debugging -> True
Enable Settings > Device Connection > USB Connectivity -> True
Attach Phone, Dialog "USB for transfer appears"
opt: [Select "Mass Storage Mode (MSC)"]
opt: [Click through "Xperia Companion Setup"]
opt: [Software Update]
Reboot Device and PC
Download and unpack http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-z3-driver/
Select "Mass Storage Mode (MTP)"
Windows > Device Manager > Right Click on Unrecognized Device D6603 > Install new Driver: Selecto location for the unpacked xperia-z3-driver
As nothing worked for me...
Enable Settings > Developer options > USB debugging -> True
Enable Settings > Device Connection > USB Connectivity -> True
Attach Phone, Dialog "USB for transfer appears"
opt: [Select "Mass Storage Mode (MSC)"]
opt: [Click through "Xperia Companion Setup"]
opt: [Software Update] Reboot Device and PC
Maybe also then installed wrong driver.
Here is how to install the correct driver. Well, have to admit, I am new to the Sony World, and I think others might be more into it how many duplicate device types there exist.
Windows:
Now at least I found it on device manager listed under "Other devices" - for my Xperia Tablet Z it was SGP311 of course. Just unplug and plug back in, if you are not sure, which device it is. Go back to the sony drivers page:
https://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/
Or google for *Sony driver #MyDeviceId#"
Download and unzip the driver.
Now right click on the device in device manager and select "update drivers". Select drivers from local storage (automatic update was not working for me!)
Now give the folder, you just extracted/unzipped.
Now it worked for me and the device is no longer listed under "other devices". Make sure to authorize your computer for debugging on the sony device.
Just unlock the Sony Xperia and you will have to accept the prompt to pair with the computer.
In my case I just had to change USB ports. For some reason this would only work on a USB 3.0 port.
In cmd when I try to do the command:
adb shell
it shows device not found error. Can someone help me please. It'll be appreciated.
Don't forget to go to your device and enable Settings->Developer Options->USB debugging.
Try any of the following solutions. I get errors with adb every now and then.
And one of the following always works.
Solution 1
Open command prompt as administrator and enter
adb kill-server
adb start-server
Solution 2
Install drivers for your phone if you're not testing on emulator.
Solution 3
Open android sdk manager and install "Google USB Driver" from extras folder. (attached screenshot)
Android SDK Google USB Driver missing
Solution 4
Go to settings > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging.
(If you don't see Developer Options, Go to Settings > About Phone > Keep tapping "Build number" until it says "You're a developer!"
Enable USB Debugging
It depends on windows system but usually:
you go to system properties
look at hardware devices
Right click on the yellow (has to be yellow if it's driver problem) icon representing your mobile device
select property
Then go on the driver tab
select update driver
choose the bottom selection find on local computer
then choose manually
From the windows opened look for driver disk the bottom right button
Choose the driver from the folder <sdk>\extras\google\usb_driver\i386 (or amd64 for and).
Remember to uncheck the show only compatible hardware.
Then choose the driver
When windows warn your about possible incompatibility go on.
For my mobile it works, but depend on your mobile if it work or not.
Hope this help, bye.
If you installed Eclipse have Android SDK, go to DDMS. If the list device display "?????????"
you do adb kill-server and then adb start-server.
Please make sure you install USB driver and enable debug mode.
Another issue here is that you likely need to turn off "connect as media device" to be able to connect with adb.
For me, I have to Revoke USB debugging authorizations in Developer Options. Here is the steps:
Turn off USB Debugging,
Revoke USB debugging authorizations,
Plug the cable back in,
Turn on USB Debugging
I solved:
Just turn off USB debugging and re-enable debugging it immediately
On my G2 I had to select PTP instead of MTP mode to get the connection to work.
I had this problem suddenly crop up in Windows 7 with my Nexus One - somehow the USB drivers had been uninstalled. I ran android-sdk/SDK Manager.exe, checked Extras/Google USB Driver and installed it. Then I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in, and ran "adb devices" to confirm the phone was attached.
This doesn't work for all phones, just the ones listed here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Developer options
USB Debug
if you can not see developer option, go to about. build version and click build version until developer options in unlock.
Try changing USB port.
Try restarting adb server.
I have a Droid 3 (Verizon). I went to Motorola here and found the driver for the device 'Motorola ADB Interface' which was showing in device manager. It's kind of a big download for just the driver, but during installation it found it and installed correctly.
I switched to a different USB port and it suddenly got recognized...
How about:
Settings -> System -> Developer options -> Debugging -> turn on toggle for Wireless ADB debugging
or:
Revoke USB debugging authorizations
and try from the scratch.
Just wanted to provide a simple answer here. I am just messing with an old Android device for the first time doing these root and unlock procedures. I received an error like this one when an adb push "..." "/sdcard/" command failed, and the key was that my device was in the bootloader screen. Booting to recovery then allowed me copy over the file(s), and I presume the normal OS would as well.
This worked for me, my AVG anti virus was deleting my adb.exe file. If you have AVG try:
1) opening the program
2) go to options
3) go to the virus vault and click on it
4) find your adb program, click on it, and press RESTORE at the bottom
This will move the file back to its original place.
However, unless you turn off the AVG it will delete the file again.
After this android studio located the file. Good luck.
I found my solution from this similar thread by enabling USB tethering on my LG G6 (requires data saver to be turned off)
Go to: Settings -> Tethering & networks -> switch on USB tethering
For completeness, I've just had a case here I had to change my USB cable. Guess the one I had was for charging only, accursed thing.
On my Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact on Oreo I had to switch USB mode to MIDI to get it working. Only after this my Windows recognised Android ADB, however it couldn't autoinstall driver. I opened Device Manager and installed the Google USB Driver for the ADB.
To solve this problem,
Add adb folder to your windows path (system veriable)
This solves the problem
In my case I needed to swap the ends of the cable connecting my device to the computer...
