This is my onStart() method of MainActivity
#Override

super.onStart();
gps = new GPSTracker();
gps.getLocation(this);
}
And then I call getLocation() again on a button click in MainActity
gps.getLocation(this);
The accepted answer on this question suggests getting location updates and using multiple providers - My current location always returns null. How can I fix this?. I'm doing both.
getLocation() always returns a null location, even if I try to get the location after several minutes. What can do to make it return a valid location and not null?
To get Location in emulator you have to configure through emulator control

I have already updated the manifest file as well so I'm not sure why it's not working properly. I make calls to it in a writeToFile method in my main activity.

You should be using onLocationChanged() to update the Lat Longs. With that empty, I'm not sure how often you are actually updating your UI

GPSTracker gps = new GPSTracker(this);
if(gps.canGetLocation()){

longitude = gps.getLongitude();

You are not getting wrong latitude and longitude.You are using getLastKnownLocation() so its returning your last location
In android app want to get the location by button click here is my code

and my call function that get the Latitude,Longitude from above code.
double lat = gps.getLatitude();
double log = gps.getLongitude();
but its only give the same location even the place is changed.
any one help me...thanks in advance..
I looked in your code and it seems correct in all way. Can you please try it by making minimum distance to 0 as you have given min. distance 10 meter and may be you didn't moved at that much rate and your service may be taking min. distance as primary point instead of min. time.
#Dynamo: requestupdatelocation call the onLocationChanged callback method. It is not totally depending on the location assignment. location value will change as per the user location updates.
Here question is that "onLocationChanged" callback method is not getting call on given parameter.
Try this
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
this.location = location;
}
and also try reducing the MIN_DISTANCE_CHANGE_FOR_UPDATES to a least value.
Your code seems correct. The only reason I could think of is that device is not able to get the locations. It takes a few minutes for the device to get a lock on your location so try giving it some time.
You can use adb shell dumpsys location to check which apps have a location listener registered and if your app is among them. It will also tell you when was the last time android got a location update. Also try running any other location app to see if this problem is with your app or the environment.
I have pretty interesting case with the application im currently working on. I need to take current location of the phone and am testing the application to two testing devices. On Samsung fame it takes current location and updates every time I activate the event, but on Samsung Galaxy s4 there is no updates. It always gives me the same coordinates. Im pretty sure something is wrong with the code, but cant figure out what. Both of the phones are with WIFI turnded on and mobile data turned off.
This is the code on the application:
