Espresso, scroll to bottom of dynamical loading ListView - android

normaly scrolling down within a Testcase I could use this peace of code:
onView( withId( R.id.button)).perform( scrollTo(), click());
However in this test i want to scroll down a Listview, where the childelements are loaded dynamically (I dont know how many there are), when the view is scrolled down. Is there anything like scroll to bottom in espresso like in Robotium?

You should use onData() to interact with ListView elements. If you want to scroll to the bottom, just scroll to the last item. For example:

RecyclerView notifyDataSetChange scroling all the way up, not working as i want it to

I am writing a photo picker for Facebook inside my app, i have a recyclerview with a grid layout and i want to prevent for scrolling up, i was able to do this by using scrollToPosition and this works but not the way i want
Problem
When i click in a photo on the 2 row that row jumps to the top and becomes the number 1 visible row, if i click the 3 row the samething happens.
I don't want the recycler to move if the view is visible it should remain the same, so if i click on a a photo that is on the last visible row i want the scroll to stay the same, i don't want it to make the last row the first.
Tries to solve it
I tried several things to fix this, i tried calling setNestedScrollingEnabled i followed this How to disable RecyclerView scrolling?

I thought that maybe disabling the scroll would lock the recyclerview on the corrent position but it didn't jumps right up.
I also tried getting the Vertical offset and set it after calling notifyDataSetChange but i can't find a way to set the offset programmatically

remove those 2 lines from onItemClick
picker.setAdapter(adapter);
picker.scrollToPosition(position);
every time you setAdapter it resets position, and now you don't need to set a new position again.

Odd behavior with RecyclerView animations using onPreDraw()

I successfully added onPreDraw animations to a RecyclerView using the following code. I call this function immediately after the adapter is set.

However, this causes an issue when adding items to the RecyclerView. The items seem to inherit the start delay specified in the animation and when a new item is added to the top of the RecyclerView, rather than all the items below moving down at once, they move in a staggered way. Here's a video to demonstrate the problem. Here's the normal animation when adding items when not using the onPreDraw animation.
Items are added to the RecyclerView using the following code.

How to modify RecyclerView rows size when scrolling?

If you're working with wearables, you can use the WearableListView.
If so, in your adapter, you have your Item class which represents your row. This class can implement WearableListView.OnCenterProximityListener. There, you can animate your view in the callbacks : a small example without animation :

RecyclerView parallax scroll background for each item

I am trying to get a parallax effect working. Such as in the sound cloud android app or something like this.
I have a RecyclerView where every list item has a FrameLayout and an ImageView in it and I need every background image in the RecyclerView to be parallaxed.

The problem with this is that EVERY item will scroll up, and not just the ones that are visible. My RecyclerView is large with many items, and the items at the bottom will be all scrolled up as well. (for example if I can see item 1-3 and scroll down, even items 4-15 will scroll right as now). Maybe the getScroll() method can be modified somehow to only only scroll the background of the visible items?

Scroll RecyclerView to show selected item on top

I'm looking for a way to scroll a RecyclerView to show the selected item on top.
In a ListView I was able to do that by using scrollTo(x,y) and getting the top of the element that need to be centered.
Something like:

The problem is that the RecyclerView returns an error when using it's scrollTo method saying
RecyclerView does not support scrolling to an absolute position
How can I scroll a RecyclerView to put the selected item at the top of the view?
If you are using the LinearLayoutManager or Staggered GridLayoutManager, they each have a scrollToPositionWithOffset method that takes both the position and also the offset of the start of the item from the start of the RecyclerView, which seems like it would accomplish what you need (setting the offset to 0 should align with the top).
For instance:

use an instance of the layoutmanager in recycle view and then calling recyclerView.smoothScrollToPosition(pos); will smooth scroll to selected position to top of the recycler view

You just need to call recyclerview.scrollToPosition(position). That's fine!
If you want to call it in adapter, just let your adapter has the instance of recyclerview or the activity or fragment which contains recyclerview,than implements the method getRecyclerview() in them.

You may note that calling recyclerView.scrollToPosition(pos) or (recyclerView.layoutManager as LinearLayoutManager).scrollToPositionWithOffset(pos, offset) wouldn't work if called straight after adapter.submitList. It is because the differ looks for changes in a background thread and then asynchronously notifies adapter about changes. On a SO i have seen several wrong answers with unnecessary delays & etc to solve this.
To handle the situation properly the submitList has a callback which is invoked when changes have been applied.
So the proper kotlin implementations in this case are:

Introduction
None of the answers explain how to show last item(s) at the top. So, the answers work only for items that still have enough items above or below them to fill the remaining RecyclerView. For instance, if there are 59 elements and a 56-th element is selected it should be at the top as in the picture below:
So, let's see how to implement this in the next paragraph.
Solution
We could handle those cases by using linearLayoutManager.scrollToPositionWithOffset(pos, 0) and additional logic in the Adapter of RecyclerView - by adding a custom margin below the last item (if the last item is not visible then it means there's enough space fill the RecyclerView). The custom margin could be a difference between the root view height and the item height. So, your Adapter for RecyclerView would look as follows:

If your LayoutManager is LinearLayoutManager you can use scrollToPositionWithOffset(position,0); on it and it will make your item the first visible item in the list. Otherwise, you can use smoothScrollToPosition on the RecyclerView directly.
I ended up using the below code.

I use the code below to smooth-scroll an item (thisView) to the top.
It works also for GridLayoutManager with views of different heights:
