I have a layout that holds 3 fragments.

The first fragment on the left will load automatically when this layout loads. I have a Fragment called dateTime Fragment that loads in the middle fragment based on a listview choice in the 1st fragment. The dateTime fragment has an optionsmenu in which i want to hide one of the options based on whether the far right fragment(reasonList Fragment) is showing.
My question is how can i check if the reasonList fragment on the far right is showing from the onPrepareOptionsMenu of the middle DateTime fragment.
I have tried the following but it returns true as the fragment container in the layout is there.

Try the following

If the above still does not work and you're sure that the recycler view is on display then launch UIAutomator and try to highlight above your recycler view, check if the thing it highlights is your recycler view, chances are your recycler view might have something on top of it which makes it not clickable (or it might not even be on display).
Another thing to check is if there is a transition and no animation is in place, the test might be looking for your recycler view while it is not yet on display. You might want to check on https://developer.android.com/training/testing/espresso/idling-resource
For a quicker check, just make the thread sleep prior to clicking on the recycler view

The gist of my problem:
I have multiple fragments that are added sequentially and not re-ordered. Almost all of them have SwipeRefreshLayouts as their root views. When the user triggers onBackPressed, the last fragment should be removed. If a new fragment is opened, the last fragment is hidden.
In the event that the SwipeRefreshLayout is active (ie refresh state set to true and onRefresh is called) and the user pops off the current fragment, the view remains stuck until an app restart. I've confirmed that onPause() and onDestroy() do get called. I have tested this across each type of my fragments, so I'm nearly sure the problem lies in how I remove fragments.

So I found a related thread after hours of searching. Both solutions worked for me, although I think I prefer the FrameLayout wrapper for now. This seems to be a bug in android itself

Initially this had a corresponding Activity but I had to introduce a DrawerLayout so I had to convert it to a Fragment.
After doing that my pickup_dropoff_LL disappears.
It is shown on the screen for a micro second and then it disappears.
I suspect the issue is somewhere here but I'm not sure.

1. I checked visibility for pickup_dropoff_LL. It's showing as 0, which means View.VISIBLE. But it is not visible.
2. As suggested by some links, I tried placing an empty view of same height & width over my map. Even that didn't work.

Try drawing your layout last. Put the Include after the Fragment

Putting anything below your view would make it not appear when opened although it is visible in property. In your class you can swap the fragment as desired by calling the fragment manager and seleting a fragment at whatever list index is selected. I suggest use an internal listener and just call a method to pick the view and swap it. Like below:

I am able to add a fragment to my fragmentlayout, but when I'm trying to replace the fragment with a new one the screen is blank. I can add a new fragment but then it's not scrollable. I'm also not able not remove a fragment.
Does someone know what I'm doing wrong? I red a lot about it and I feel like I have tried everything..

You can try using the .replace method. If you do not wish to be able to move back to the previous fragment than you can remove addToBackStack().
This may need to be altered slightly to fit your application.

menu/listnavigation.xml is attached to navigation view I contains items of navigation view.
In my code as items are selected from navigation view accordingly fragment is replaced. Here Home, Product, Media are my fragment, you can create any fragment.
Try using fragmentTransaction.replace() instead of fragmentTransaction.add() and comment out code for removing fragments. When you replace the fragment - it gets removed. Also - remember to call: fragmentTransaction.commit() when you are done with replacing fragments.
findViewById(R.id.team_detail_container) is failing to find the view. Is my problem with the xml or in the way I am constructing the FragmentActivity? How do I solve this?

I know that this particular layout xml is being used as changes I make to the xml file are reflected in the app.
I also know that the condition is never met as I never get the log message Log.i("####", "Team Detail Container has been found! Yaay!"); and the behaviour get is that when an item is selected the list view is replaced with the detail fragments instead of the detail fragments being displayed next to the list view because the item selected conditions are not being met

The fragment doesn't get added to your layout tree immediately after committing the transaction. You'll have to wait till onViewCreated on the fragment was called. You could probably access the view within the onStart-Method of your Activity, but it would probably be a better idea to keep that logic within the fragment itself. The Activity shouldn't be concerned with what views are contained in a fragment.
I think the issue is you're looking for the Fragment from the Activity, but since you're not using setContentView, the Activity doesn't actually have a View to look through. Try getting the view from the Fragment instead using the getView() method.
