I have following layout with RecyclerView and AppBarLayout. I am getting perfect view but not getting parallax effect, recyclerView is just scrolling in bottom area of screen.
<android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
<android.support.v7.widget.RecyclerView
android:id="#+id/recyclerView"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
app:layout_behavior="#string/appbar_scrolling_view_behavior"/>
<android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="250dp"
android:theme="#style/ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.Dark.ActionBar">
<android.support.design.widget.CollapsingToolbarLayout
android:id="#+id/collapsing_toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
app:contentScrim="?attr/colorPrimary"
app:layout_scrollFlags="scroll|exitUntilCollapsed">
<ImageView
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:scaleType="centerCrop"
android:src="#drawable/splash"
app:layout_collapseMode="parallax" />
</android.support.design.widget.CollapsingToolbarLayout>
</android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout>
</android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout>
Can anyone please help me why parallax is not working? What is wrong in my xml file?
Make sure you're using com.android.support:recyclerview-v7:22.2.0
if not than update it

Check out the Cheesesquare Sample project on github.
It has examples on how to use AppBarLayout with ViewPager.
Specifically, look at the CheeseDetailActivity (and its layout).
My recyclerview's items are loaded dynamically. The bottom sheet UI is a small music player. I want to show the recyclerview above the music player UI. But currently, the music player UI is hiding the last elements of recyclerview. The music player's ui is hidden/shown dynamically. Can you please show me how the recyclerview's elements can all be shown without being obstructed by the bottomsheet UI(music player)?
Here is my layout

android:layout_height="wrap_content"
app:layout_behavior="#string/bottom_sheet_behavior">

</FrameLayout>
</android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout>
Just set paddingBottom and clipToPadding="false" to the recyclerView
<android.support.v7.widget.RecyclerView
android:id="#+id/my_recycler_view"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:clipToPadding="false"
android:paddingBottom="your_music_player_ui_height" />
Try setting the height of the RecyclerView to "0dip" and if using a ConstraintLayout, constrain the RecyclerView to the top and bottom of the parent view.
You can fix this issue by putting the recycler view inside the frame layout.
<FrameLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content">
<androidx.recyclerview.widget.RecyclerView
android:id="#+id/list"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:scrollbars="vertical" />
</FrameLayout>

JAVA:
CollapsingToolbarLayout collapsingToolbar =
(CollapsingToolbarLayout) findViewById(R.id.collapsing_toolbar);
collapsingToolbar.setTitle("Title");
It shows me this on android studio:
But when I run it, it just shows me this:
I've even tried to use android.support.v4.widget.NestedScrollView instead of ScrollView but it didn't work either.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong ???
Change the height of NestedScrollView to Wrap_content instead of match_parent, it is occupyig entire screen. Hope that works for you.
Hi guys i'am trying to achieve the new google maps effects when collapsing the toolbar.
Anyone with the idea how it's done?
The image seems to collapse under the toolbar!

To reproduce the effect go to:

I've been playing around with the Design Support Library and have come across a little problem that I hope someone can help me out with.
I'm using a CollapsingToolbar which contain an ImageView which collapses in parralax. In the CollapsingToolbar, I alse have a TabLayout which is supposed to scroll my ViewPager. My issue is that the ViewPager doesn't appear. The issue seems to arise only when I set my ViewPager layout_height to match_parent or wrap_content. If I set it to 600dp, then the problem is gone but then the view ends up being a fixed length which isn't very nice.
Any help would be grealty appreciated!
Here's my XML
<android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout

android:id="#+id/main_content"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true">
<android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout
android:id="#+id/appbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="#dimen/detail_backdrop_height"

android:fitsSystemWindows="true"

<android.support.design.widget.CollapsingToolbarLayout
android:id="#+id/collapsing_toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
app:layout_scrollFlags="scroll|exitUntilCollapsed"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
app:contentScrim="?attr/colorPrimary"
>
<ImageView
android:id="#+id/backdrop"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:fitsSystemWindows="true"
app:layout_collapseMode="parallax"
android:src="#drawable/stock_image"/>
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="?attr/actionBarSize"
app:popupTheme="#style/ThemeOverlay.AppCompat.Light"
android:layout_gravity="top"
/>
<android.support.design.widget.TabLayout
android:id="#+id/tabs"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_gravity="bottom"/>
</android.support.design.widget.CollapsingToolbarLayout>
</android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout>
<android.support.v4.widget.NestedScrollView
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical"
>
<android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
android:id="#+id/viewpager"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:background="#android:color/white"
app:layout_behavior="#string/appbar_scrolling_view_behavior"
/>
</LinearLayout>
</android.support.v4.widget.NestedScrollView>
</android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout>
You should remove the NestedScrollView and LinearLayout levels between your CoordinatorLayout and ViewPager:
<android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout>
<android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout>
...
</android.support.design.widget.AppBarLayout>
<android.support.v4.view.ViewPager
android:id="#+id/viewpager"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:background="#android:color/white"
app:layout_behavior="#string/appbar_scrolling_view_behavior" />
</android.support.design.widget.CoordinatorLayout>
The view with app:layout_behavior="#string/appbar_scrolling_view_behavior must be a direct child of CoordinatorLayout to be positioned correctly in relation to the AppBarLayout.
